Frequently Asked Questions - TLPA8010 KIT TP-LINK

How to pair two TP-Link TL-PA8010 Powerline adapters?
Press the Pair button on the first adapter for 1 second, then within 2 minutes, do the same on the second adapter. The Powerline LEDs light up to confirm pairing.
How to reset my Powerline adapter to factory settings?
Press and hold the Pair button for about 10 seconds until the Power LED briefly turns off. Release, the adapter restarts.
Why do I have no internet access via my Powerline network?
Check that all adapters are on the same electrical circuit, the Powerline LEDs are on, the Ethernet cables are properly connected, and your computer receives a valid IP address from the router.
Can I plug a Powerline adapter into a power strip?
No, it is not recommended to plug a Powerline adapter into a power strip. Plug it directly into a wall outlet to avoid interference and loss of speed.
What to do if the Powerline LED does not light up after pairing?
Try temporarily moving the adapters closer (on nearby outlets) and repeat the pairing procedure. Make sure they are on the same electrical circuit. Move away interfering electrical devices (hair dryer, air conditioner).
How to add a third adapter to my existing Powerline network?
Press the Pair button on an already connected adapter for 1 second, then within 2 minutes, press the Pair button on the new adapter for 1 second. It will be integrated into the secure network.
What is the maximum distance between two Powerline adapters?
The distance depends on the quality of the electrical installation. In practice, the Powerline network works up to 300 meters on the same circuit, but performance decreases with distance and interference.
Can I use Powerline adapters with a non-TP-Link router?
Yes, Powerline adapters are compatible with any router that has an Ethernet port. They work independently of the router's brand.
How to update the firmware of my Powerline adapter?
Download the tpPLC utility from the TP-Link website. Connect the adapter to your computer via Ethernet, launch the utility, and follow the instructions to update the firmware.
Do Powerline adapters consume a lot of electricity?
No, typical consumption is less than 3 watts per adapter in standby, which is very low.
