Frequently Asked Questions - Gioia 470 Lincar

How to light the Gioia 470 stove?
Place a firelighter cube or paper, add 0.5 kg of wood chips and three small pieces of wood. Fully open the primary and secondary air. Light, close the door. After 15-25 minutes, adjust the air inlets according to the regulation table. Use only dry wood, never flammable liquids.
What fuel to use?
The recommended fuel is dry log wood (moisture content below 14%), length 30 cm, preferably beech. Lignite briquettes are also allowed. It is forbidden to use liquid fuels, coal, straw, corn, hazelnuts, pine cones, pellets or treated wood.
What safety distances must be observed?
For combustible materials: front (A) ≥ 1000 mm, sides (B) ≥ 350 mm, rear (C) ≥ 250 mm, above (D) ≥ 1500 mm. For non-combustible objects: front ≥ 500 mm, sides ≥ 200 mm, rear ≥ 200 mm, above ≥ 1500 mm. The floor must be protected with a non-combustible material extending 500 mm at the front, 300 mm on the sides and 100 mm at the rear.
How to clean the stove glass?
Clean the glass only when the stove is cold. Use a sponge soaked with a specific stove glass cleaner, then wipe with a dry cloth. Avoid abrasive products. If the glass gets dirty quickly, check the draft, fuel quality and air settings.
What to do in case of broken or cracked glass?
Do not use the stove anymore and have the glass replaced by an approved technician. Only original parts are allowed. Using with damaged glass may cause smoke leakage and fire risks.
How to adjust primary and secondary air?
For wood: primary air open to 1/3, secondary air open to 2/3. For lignite: primary air open to 2/3, secondary air open to 1/3. These settings are indicative; adjust according to combustion. Secondary air is mainly used to regulate the fire in normal operation.
Why does the glass blacken quickly?
Possible causes: draft too low (< 10 Pa), incorrect air settings, excess fuel, wood too moist (> 20% moisture) or unsuitable fuel. Solutions: check that the flue is clear, increase draft (chimney height), reduce wood quantity, use dry wood, and adjust air inlets.
How to maintain the flue?
Have the flue swept at least once a year by a professional. Regularly check that it is not blocked. In case of flue fire, close all air inlets and call the fire brigade. Do not use water, but a powder or CO2 extinguisher.
Where to install the Gioia 470 stove?
Install it in a well-ventilated room, on a non-combustible floor (or with protection). Respect the safety distances. Do not install it in a bedroom, bathroom, shower, or near other heating appliances without an independent air supply. The room must have an external air intake of at least 200 cm² free section.
What to do in case of smoke in the room?
First check that all doors (firebox, ash pan) are closed. Make sure the seals are in good condition. Insufficient draft may be due to a blocked flue or too low depression (10-20 Pa required). Clean the appliance and flue, or call a technician for a diagnosis.
