Technical specifications:

  • Article number : 100.035
  • Power: 450W
  • Voltage: 230V (115V version available)
  • Production: 2 to 3 minutes per raclette

Safety prescription

  • Check the mains voltage rating before switching on the oven and make sure that the rating corresponds to that indicated on the oven's type label.
  • Check the power cable before plugging it into the mains outlet. Never use a defective cable.
  • The oven must only be handled by responsible adults perfectly aware of how to use it. Do not let children use the appliance.
  • Place the oven on a flat, stable surface away from any other object.
  • Leave a minimum distance of 30 cm between the oven and the wall.
  • Do not place the oven on a hot surface.
  • Do not leave the oven unattended connected to the mains outlet.
  • Never move the oven while it is connected to the mains outlet or if still hot.
  • Never cover the oven with easily flammable materials.
  • THE OVEN'S SURFACES BECOME HOT WHEN IN USE. NEVER TOUCH THE HEATING UNIT OR THE GRILL PLATE. GRASP THE CHEESE HOLDER BY THE SIDE HANDLES.
  • Let the oven cool off for at least 20 minutes after usage.
  • Store the oven in a warm dry place.

Installing the cheese in its holder

First, make sure that the distance between the heating unit (E) and the cheese holder (A) is large enough to let the cheese pass under the heating unit. If necessary, adjust the distance with the knob (D). Turn it counterclockwise to increase the distance, or clockwise to decrease the distance.

Turn the control knob counterclockwise to raise the heating unit.

Turn the control knob clockwise to lower the heating unit.

  • Pivot the arm with the cheese holder.
  • Place the cheese on its holder by inserting it on the two picks.

  • Make sure that the cheese block's bottom is sufficiently flat. If the cheese block's bottom is slightly rounded, cut off a piece of cheese so that the cheese rests flat.

  • Move the cheese under the resistance. Adjust the distance between the cheese and the heating unit. An optimum distance is 1 to 2 cm. Note: a raclette cheese made from raw milk should melt slowly. For this, it is recommended to increase the distance between the cheese and the heating unit.

Starting the oven and preparing the raclette

  • Connect the power cable to the oven's plug (F) and then to the main's outlet. Switch the oven on with the power switch. When the oven is used for the first time, the heating unit may release a little smoke for about 30 seconds. This is normal and not dangerous.
  • When the cheese is melted (or grilled), grasp the cheese holder with the side handle and swing it. Scrape off the melted cheese with a TTM raclette knife with its smooth side.
  • After 4 or 5 raclettes, cut off the cheese's remaining crusts with the TTM raclette knife's toothed side and serve them with the raclette. These crusts are called "religious pieces" because they are so divinely good.
  • The raclette must be eaten warm. It is the custom that the served person immediately savours his/her raclette without waiting for the other guests to be served. The traditional raclette is served with unpeeled potatoes, pickles or other vinegar conserved vegetables. As an accompaniment, a dry white wine or tea will increase the pleasure.

Note: if the raclette is interrupted by a break, it is recommended to shut off the oven to not consume power and prevent the cheese from absorbing too much heat. If the oven is not switched off, make sure that the cheese holder is centred under the heating unit to act as a heat reflector.

Cleaning

Before using the oven for the first time, clean the removable grill plate (C) and the cheese holder under running water.

After each raclette party, let the oven cool off completely. Never soak an oven element in water or wash it in the dishwasher. It is sufficient to clean it under running water or with a damp cloth. Then wipe it off. Never use abrasive products. The raclette oven's bottom plate may be cleaned with a damp cloth.
