First Use of the Machine

  • Clean the ironing base with a slightly damp cloth. Remove any foil from the sole of the iron.
  • In order to remove all residues before initial use, please pass the iron a few times over an old clean cloth.
  • Open the seal (7) of the water tank and fill it through the opening with not more than 0.7 litres of pure distilled water. Then re-tighten the seal.
  • Do not fill battery water, water from the clothes dryer and water containing additives (such as starch, perfume, softener or other chemicals) into the water reservoir. This could damage the iron due to residues forming in the steam chamber. These residues may cause impurities to the fabric when dropping out of the holes in the soleplate.

Connected Wattage

The station has a total maximum wattage of 2600 W. With this connected load a separate supply line protected by a 16 A household circuit breaker is recommended.

Warning - Danger of Overload!

Do not use any extension leads or multiple sockets as this device is too powerful.

Using the Machine

Ironing without steam

  1. Sort out the garments according to their ironing temperatures.
  2. Always turn the temperature control to the lowest temperature setting before connecting the device to or disconnecting it from the mains.

  3. Start with the lower temperatures. It is set with the thermostat (1):

• Synthetics, silk low temperature
• Wool medium temperature
••• Cotton, linen high temperature

  1. Place the iron on its stand.

  2. Electrical connection:

  3. Make sure that the iron voltage (see name plate) and the line voltage match.

  4. Only connect the machine to a properly installed safety socket, 230 V/50 Hz.

  5. Turn operating switch I 📄 on the station to position I and move the steam regulator (9) to MIN. Operating switch I 📄 lights up. Please ensure that operating switch II 🌐 is turned to position 0.

  6. The control lamp in the switch of the iron indicates that it is heating up. As soon as the control lamp goes off the operating temperature has been reached. Now you can start ironing.

  7. Always remove the mains plug after using the machine.

Steam Ironing

For this a high temperature is needed.

  1. Turn the temperature control (1) to position „•••“ (cotton, linen).
  2. Move both operating switches (10/11) to position I. When the control lamp (5) lights up there is enough steam for steam operation.

BOMANN CB 758 - Steam Ironing - 1

Warning: The steam is hot! There is a danger of scalding!

  1. You can set the desired quantity of steam with the steam regulator (9).
  2. With the steam jet button you can produce a short strong jet of steam. Continuous steam is produced by locking the catch (3) in place.

How can I replenish the water during operation?

If the pressure falls during operation you can fill more water into the tank at the same time.

  1. First turn operating switch II to 0. Operating switch I remains switched to I.

Note: If there is still some residual pressure in the water tank, a safety lock prevents the water tank catch (7) from being opened.

BOMANN CB 758 - How can I replenish the water during operation? - 1

The residual pressure fi rst has to be relieved before the device can be safely opened.

  1. With the steam jet button you can now release the residual steam pressure. When no further steam comes out of the iron sole plate, turn operating switch I 📄 to 0. Then please remove the mains plug and carefully open the water tank lock (7).

BOMANN CB 758 - The residual pressure fi rst has to be relieved before the device can be safely opened. - 1

Warning: The steam is hot! There is a danger of scalding!

Note: If it is not yet possible to open the lock of the water tank the device needs a further 2 to 3 minutes to cool down. Then release the residual pressure again.

  1. With the help of a funnel fi ll freshwater from a measuring beaker into the water tank. Do not overfill! Take care of water splashes that might come out of the boiler. In order to prevent the water from splashing it should be fi lled into the funnel slowly after the safety lock has been opened.
  2. Fasten the safety lock again.
  3. Insert the power plug back into the socket.

BOMANN CB 758 - Warning: The steam is hot! There is a danger of scalding! - 1

Note: Never open the water tank lock while the device is being operated.

When ironing at low temperatures, please ensure that you reduce the quantity of steam or iron without steam altogether.

Vertical Steam

This can be used to produce a jet of steam in a vertical direction.

Self-Cleaning

Any lime residues which form in the sole plate are automatically removed due to the heat and steam pressure.

Cleaning

• Always remove the mains lead before cleaning!
- Wait until the machine has cooled down completely.
- Clean the casing with a slightly damp cloth.
- Clean the sole plate and the rest with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use any abrasive cleaning agents!
- Any residual water can remain in the water tank, but should be poured out if it has been in the tank for a prolonged period.
