SNAW 1000 C1 Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance. You have clearly decided in favour of a quality product. These operating instruc- tions are a part of this product. They contain important information in regard to safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all of these operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and only for the specified areas of application. In addition, pass these documents on, together with the product, to any future owner. Risks can be presented by the appliance if used for unintended purposes and/ or other types of use. ► Use the appliance exclusively for its intended purposes. ► Observe the procedures described in these operating instructions. Claims of any kind for damage resulting from unintended use will not be accepted. The operator alone bears liability. Items supplied / Transport inspection WARNING Risk of suffocation! ► Packaging material should not be used as a play thing. There is a risk of suffocation! The appliance is delivered with the following components as standard: ▯ Nutrition Scale ▯ 1 x Button battery, 3V, CR2032 ▯ Operating instructions NOTICE ► Check the contents to make sure everything is there and for visible damage. ► If the contents are not complete or are damaged due to defective pack- aging or transportation, contact the Service Hotline. Disposal of the packaging The packaging protects the appliance from transport damage. The packaging materials are selected from the point of view of their environmental friendliness and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable. The return of packaging to the material circulation saves raw materials and reduces waste volumes . Dis pose of packaging material that is no longer needed according to the regionally established regulations. NOTICE ► If possible preserve the appliance's original packaging during the war- ranty period so that in the case of a warranty claim you can package the appliance properly for return.116

Indicator in 1 g - / 0.05 oz - steps Warnings In the existing operation instructions the following warnings are used: WARNING A warning of this danger level signifies a possible dangerous situation. If the dangerous situation is not avoided it can lead to injuries. ► The directives in this warning are there to avoid personal injuries. IMPORTANT A warning of this danger level signifies possible property damage. If the situation is not avoided it can lead to property damage. ► The directives in this warning are there to avoid property damage. NOTICE ► A notice signifies additional information that assists in the handling of the appliance. Safety In this chapter you receive important safety information regarding handling of the appliance. This appliance complies with the statutory safety regulations. Incorrect usage can, however, lead to personal injury and property damage.118
SNAW 1000 C1 WARNING NEVER take medications (e.g. the dispensing of insulin) solely on the basis of nutritional values given by this nutrition analy- sis scale! Reinforce your knowledge of the values given by, for example, referring to literature on the subject. In this way, possible aberrances of the food nutritional values can be avoided with the reference values saved in the appliance. ► Otherwise, it may lead to incorrect dosages of medications! If in any doubt, seek medical advice! Basic Safety Instructions For safe handling of the appliance observe the following safety infor- mation: WARNING - RISK OF INJURY! ■ Before use check the appliance for visible external damage. Do not take into use an appliance that is damaged or has fallen down. ■ This device may be used by children aged 8 over and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided that they are under supervision or have been told how to use the device safely and are aware of the poten- tial risks. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks must not be carried out by children unless they are supervised. ■ Repairs should only be carried out by authorized specialist companies or by the customer service department. Incorrect repairs can result in significant dangers for the user. In addition warranty claims become void.
WARNING - PROPERTY DAMAGE
■ Defective components may only be replaced with original replacement parts. Only by using original replacement parts can you guarantee that the safety requirements are complied with.119
SNAW 1000 C1 ■ Protect the appliance from moisture and liquid penetration. ■ Do not place anything on the scale if it is not in use. ■ Protect the scales from impacts, moisture, dust, chemicals, extremes of temperature and being too close to sources of heat (ovens, radiators). ■ Do not press on the buttons with excessive force or sharp objects. ■ Do not expose the appliance to high temperatures or strong electro- magnetic fields (eg mobile phones). NOTICE ► A repair to the appliance during the warranty period may only be carried out by a cutomer service department authorized by the manufacturer otherwise no additional warranty claims can be con- sidered for subsequent damages. Interaction with batteries WARNING Danger from improper use! For safe handling of batteries observe the following safety instructions: ► Do not throw the batteries into a fire. ► Do not short circuit the batteries. ► Do not attempt to recharge the batteries. ► Regularly check the condition of the batteries. Leaking battery acid can cause permanent damage to the appliance. When handling a damaged or leaking battery special care should be taken. Danger from acid burns! Wear protective gloves. ► Store batteries in a place inaccessible to children. If one is swal- lowed seek immediate medical attention. ► If you do not intend to use the appliance for a long time, remove the batteries.120
SNAW 1000 C1 Initial use ■ Remove all packaging materials from the appliance. Remove the protective foil from the display . The transport restraint that prevents the weighing plate from being pushed down must be removed from under the weigh- ing plate . ■ Open the battery compartment on the underside of the scales and remove the small plastic strips which are clamped between the batteries and the contacts. Close the battery compartment afterwards, such that the battery compartment cover audibly engages. ■ The scale can display weights in g (grams) / kg (kilograms) or oz (ounces)/ lb (pounds). You can set the unit on the rear of the appliance. Press the unit switch on the rear of the device to change units. In these operating instructions, g (grams) is always the unit shown as an example. Setup Place the scales on a level and heat-resistent surface. A firm standing is the prerequisite for correct measurement. NOTICE ► This appliance is equipped with non-slip rubber feet. As furniture surfaces may be made of a variety of materials and are treated with many different types of cleaning agents, it cannot be completely ruled out that some substances contain ingredients which may corrode the rubber rests and soften them. If possible place an anti-slip material under the feet of the appliance. Operation Weighing items
1) Press the button ON/OFF/TARE
to switch the scales on. The start display appears briefly, then “0 g” appears automatically. IMPORTANT Overloading or improper loading lead to irreparable damage to the appliance. ► NEVER place more than 5000 g (11 lb) on the weighing plate . ► Do not place objects or foodstuffs on the display or on the buttons.121
2) If you wish to weigh without the bowl/container, lay the item to be weighed
on the weighing plate . The weight will be indicated. If you wish to weigh the item in a bowl / in a container, first place the empty bowl / the empty container onto the weighing plate . Press the button ON/OFF/TARE . The display shows “0 g” and “T” appears on the display . Place the items to be weighed in the bowl/container. The weight of the items is shown. Weighing additional items (tare) To weigh in further amounts (e.g. flour and water for dough), you can set the scales back at “0 g”. ■ If you wish to return the scales back to “0 g” after the first measurement so as to measure the next ingredient, press the button ON/OFF/TARE
The display once again indicates “0 g” and “T” appears in the display . Display nutrient and energy values
1) Place the items to be weighed on the scales.
2) Find the appropriate code for the food to be weighed from the food list.
3) Enter in the 3-figure code with the number buttons , e.g. 024. The display
then indicates the code and the weight
The code will be deleted. Enter the code in once again.
4) To recall the nutritive and energy values, press the desired function button .
The required detail appears in the display . If no further buttons are pressed, after approx. 8 seconds the display changes back to the weighing mode and the weight is indicated. If you wish toswitch straight into the weighing mode, press the button
The appliance indicates the weight. NOTICE ► Should you press a function button (except
), although a code has not yet been entered, "Code" blinks in the display 3 times. In this case, enter in the desired code. NOTICE ► Due to natural fluctuations in the energy and nutritional values, only approximate are possible.122
wait for about 60 seconds after the last usage. The scales switches itself off automatically. Saving a measurement You can save all indicated values of a foodstuff. The scales automatically adds together the values each saved measurement. Thus, for example, you can save your entire food values eaten in one day and recall them at the end of the day. The saved values are retained, even when you switch the scales off or change the batteries. You have previously made a measurement and entered the code.

without having previously entered in a code, "Code" blinks 3 times in the display . Then enter in the required code.
2) When you want to carry out and save the next measurement, press the save
once again. In the display the next save position (e.g. M02) appears.
3) To make further measurements, repeat the previously described steps.
NOTICE ► You can save up to 99 measurements (M99). When the memory is full, it no longer permits measurements to be saved. In this case, delete the saved data: press the button
continuously until the indication M99 (or the number of the last occupied memory space) extinguishes. ► If the nutritive value upper limit is reached with a memory input, "M" blinks in the display and no further measurements can be added.123
SNAW 1000 C1 Display added measurement values You can retrieve the added measurement values at any time, for example, daily.
In the display appears the sum sign, the number of occupied save locations and the added-up measurement values.
2) Using the function buttons (except ON/OFF/TARE
) switch between the nutrient and energy value. NOTICE
indicates “E- - - - “. After about 8 seconds, if no other buttons are pressed, the scales switches back to the weighing mode
although no measured values have been saved, the indicator "NULL" appears in the display . Delete saved measurement values When you wish to delete the saved measurement values, press the button
continuously until the number of the last occupied memory space extinguishes. Saving own codes On up to 200 memory slots you can save your own foods and their nutritional values, and give them a code number (codes 800 - 999). The values you input will each refer to 100 grams of food. You can find the nutritional values of foods on their individual packaging or in specialist literature. For this proceed as follows:
1) Press the button ON/OFF/TARE
to switch the scales on. The start display appears briefly, then “0 g“ is indicated automatically.

The display indicates “done” and the food is now saved under the selected code number with all of its nutritional values .125

6) Enter the food in the appropriate field in the food tables of these operating
instructions. NOTICE ► You can also overwrite one of your previously saved codes, in that you simply reassign the code number and save the new nutritional values under this code. Replacing the battery
1) Open the battery compartment , remove the old battery and dispose of it
in an environmentally correct way.
2) Insert a new button cell battery of type CR2032 3 V in accordance with the
polarity specified in the battery compartment.
3) Close the battery compartment . The battery compartment cover must
engage audibly. Cleaning and Care IMPORTANT Ensure that no fluids can enter the scale! This could irreparably damage the appliance. Do not use abrasive or solvent cleaners. These could damage the surfaces. ■ Wipe the scale with a soft cloth moistened with mild soap suds. ■ Clean the display only with a lightly moistened cloth and then wipe it dry with a lint-free towel. ■ To clean the weighing plate carefully remove it, in that you pull it straight up. Clean the weighing plate in a mild soapy solution . Dry the weighing plate well before putting it back on the scale and firmly pressing it down.126
SNAW 1000 C1 Troubleshooting In this chapter you will receive important information for malfunction localization and remedies. Observe the instructions in order to avoid danger and damage. WARNING Observe the following safety information to avoid danger and property damage: ► Repairs to electronic appliances may only be carried out by specialists who have been trained by the manufacturer. Considerable danger to the consumer and damage to the appliance can occur as a result of incorrect repairs. The following table will help with localizing and remedying minor malfunctions: Display Possible cause Solution In the display "L0" is indicated and the battery symbol appears The battery is very weak. Replace the battery. No indicators in the display . The battery is dis- charged. The plastic strip in the battery compartment has not been removed. Replace the battery. Remove the plastic strip from the battery compartment . In the display "0 - Ld" appears The permitted maximum weight of 5 kg/ 11 lb is being exceeded. Remove some weight from the scales. In the display "NULL" appears when one tries to retrieve the saved values. No values have been saved. The memory is empty. First save some measured values. NOTICE ► If you cannot resolve the problem with the above steps, please contact Customer Support.127
SNAW 1000 C1 Disposal Disposal of the appliance Do not dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the European directive 2012/19/EU. Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your com- munity waste facility. Observe the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, pleasecontact your waste disposal centre. Disposing of the batteries / cells Used batteries / cells may not be disposed of in household waste. Every consumer is legally obliged to dispose of batteries at a collection site in his community / city district or at a retail store. The purpose of this obligation is to ensure that batteries / cells are disposed of in a non-polluting manner. Only dispose of batteries / cells when they are fully discharged. Warranty and Service The warranty for this appliance is for 3 years from the date of purchase. The appli- ance has been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our Customer Service Department. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for your goods be assured. NOTICE ► The warranty is valid only for material or manufacturing faults, not for damage sustained during transport, parts subject to wear and tear or damage to fragile parts, e.g. the weighing plate. This product is for domestic use only and is not intended for commercial use. The warranty is void in the case of abusive and improper handling, use of force and internal tampering not carried out by our authorised service branch. Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by this warranty. The warranty period is not extended by repairs made under the warranty. This applies also to replaced and repaired parts. Damages and defects extant at the time of purchase must be reported immedi- ately after unpacking, resp. no later than two days after the date of purchase. Repairs made after the lapse of the warranty period are subject to charge.128
