USER MANUAL KA 2888 CLATRONIC

  • Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into ope- ration and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possi- ble, the box with the internal packing.
  • The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged pur- pose. This appliance is not fit for commercial use. Do not use it outdoors (except if it is designed to be used outdoors). Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediate- ly. Do not put it in water.
  • When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull on the plug, not the cable) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
  • Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you should leave the work- place, always switch the machine off or remove the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead).
  • To protect children from the dangers posed by electrical appliances, make sure that the cable is hanging low and that children do not have access to the appli- ance.
  • Check the appliance and the cable for damage on a regular basis. Do not use the appliance if it is damaged.
  • Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. To avoid the exposure to danger, always have a faulty cable be replaced only by the manufacturer, by our customer service or by a qualified person and with a cable of the same type.
  • Use only original spare parts.

  • Only fill the water tank with cold water!
  • Never open the lid of the water tank while the water is being boiled. Danger of scalding.
  • The hot plate and the coffee pot become very hot. DANGER OF SCALDING!
  • Remove all the packaging and transport protections from the device. Wipe all the parts with a moist cloth to remove all the dust that may have deposited on and in the device during transport. Then mount the device again by proceeding in the opposite order.
  • Carry out 2 or 3 cycles with cold water only to clean the device before brewing the first cup of coffee. Electrical Connection
  • Before inserting the mains lead into the socket, check whether the voltage you intend to use complies with that of the machine.
  • Only connect the machine to a properly installed safety socket, 230 V/50 Hz. For details see the machine label.
  • Make sure that the machine is switched off. The ON and AUTO lights must be off. First Use of the Machine Set the time
  • Press the TIMER button once. “CLOCK” appears in the display. Set the hours: press the “HOUR” button. Set the minutes: press the “MIN” button.
  • In order to leave the adjustment mode press the TIMER button twice or wait for 10 seconds.

1. Pull the lid of the water tank forwards. Fill the machine to the level corresponding

to the number of cups required with cold water.

2. Please close the lid of the water tank.

3. Place the pot evenly on the base. Please ensure that the lid is on the pot.

4. Swing the filter the left. Insert a paper filter (size 1x4) in the filter funnel and fill

with ground coffee (approx. 1 teaspoon for two cups). Lock in the filter until it snaps into place.

5. Your appliance is provided with a drip stop. By removing the pot, before the

water runs through the filter completely, it avoids that the coffee drips on the base. If there is still water in the tank or filter, make sure that the pot is placed back under the filter to avoid overflowing.

The red ON light (for immediate percolation) illu- minates and the device is switched on. b) The unit switches itself off automatically about two hours after the brewing. c) The unit is switched off when both LEDs are off. If you wish to switch the unit off manually or to deactivate the timer, press the START button repeatedly until both LEDs go out. Automatic operation: Please follow the instruction under points 1-5 "Initial Operation". a) Press the TIMER button once. “AUTO” appears in the display. b) Set the hours: press the “HOUR” button. c) Set the minutes: press the “MIN” button.   • Descaling is necessary when the time needed to prepare coffee becomes con- siderably longer.
  • Only commercially available descaling products based on citric acid should be used. Cleaning
  • Before cleaning the machine you should always remove the mains lead and wait until the machine has cooled down. The machine should only be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth.
  • Do not use any strong detergents or solvents for cleaning. The coffee pot and the filter pad should be cleaned by rinsing in cold water.

In such cases please contact our hotline. Broken glass or breakage of plastic parts are always subject to a charge. Defects to consumables or parts subject to wearing (e.g. motor pistons, kneading blades, drive shafts, spare remote control, spare toothbrushes, saw blades, etc.) as well as cleaning, maintenance or the replacement of said parts are not covered by the guarantee and hence are to be paid! The guarantee lapses in case of unauthorized tampering. After the expiry of the guarantee After the expiry of the guarantee repairs can be carried by the competent dealer or repair service against the payment of the ensuing costs.
