BEFOREUSE

Read these instructions fully before use and keep them for future reference. Check whether the mains voltage in your home corresponds to that of the appliance (220-240 Volt). Only use an earthed socket for this appliance.

The PRINCESS SMART COFFEEMAKER can make up to 6 cups of coffee. It has a useful thermos can, a handy filter with anti-drip device, a removable water reservoir and an automatic switch with pilot light. The appliance can be attached to the wall or placed on a worktop as desired. This is an exceptionally compact machine due to the folding filter holder and the hinged support for the coffee pot. When attached to the wall, the Coffeemaker takes up no space at all.

STANDING FREELY

Place the appliance onto the foot and screw the foot on tightly by turning the knob to the right.

MOUNTED ON THE WALL

Slide the wall attachment (back of appliance) out of the coffee machine. Use the attachment as a template to mark where the holes are to be drilled. Screw the wall attachment to the wall and slide the coffee machine onto the attachment.

Bring the flex through one of the openings (left, right or under) to the closest power point.

Please note:

• Make sure there is enough room above the wall attachment to slide the coffee machine over it, paying attention to kitchen cupboards and other obstacles.
• Allow at least 20cm between the top of the appliance and any wall cupboards to avoid problems with steam and condensation.
• Allow enough space (at least 30~cm ) between the top and bottom of the appliance and any power points, in connection with steam, condensation and leakage.

USING THE COFFEE MACHINE

Before use, fill the PRINCESS SMART COFFEEMAKER with water and no coffee and switch on to clean the inside of the appliance. Afterwards, rinse the can and the filter holder.

Fill the reservoir with water and return it to its proper position. Open the filter lid and put a filter bag (size 102) and ground coffee in the filter holder. Put the coffee pot on the support, with the handle at the front, and switch on the PRINCESS SMART

COFFEEMAKER. Use approx. 3 full measures of coffee for a full pot. This will make coffee of average strength.

Switch on the appliance by pressing the automatic switch. This switch is only meant for turning the appliance on. The appliance will turn off automatically when the coffee is ready. If the machine needs to be switched off prematurely, it will have to be unplugged.

PLEASE NOTE:

After making coffee, you must wait for at least 5 minutes before making a new pot so that the appliance has time to cool down.

As soon as the coffee is ready, the sliding cover on the thermos can should be closed to keep the coffee at the right temperature.

CLEANING

UNPLUG THE APPLIANCE BEFORE CLEANING

Rinse the thermos can, water reservoir and filter holder. These parts are not dishwasher-safe. The outside of the PRINCESS SMART COFFEEMAKER can be wiped with a damp cloth. Never immerse the thermos can in water as this may seep into the insulation cavity.

DESCALING

The PRINCESS SMART COFFEEMAKER will have a longer lease of life if it is regularly descaled.

This should be done once a month, or even twice a month in regions with very hard water. Hard water is considered to be water with a hardness of more than 20_DH, which is a measuring scale for water hardness. Your water company will be able to tell you how hard your water is. The appliance should also be descaled immediately if:

• It makes bubbling noises,
• Making coffee takes longer than normal,
• Water remains in the reservoir after making coffee.

Almost all descending agents available in the shops can be used to clean the machine. The applications for which a descending agent is suitable are usually stated on the packaging. Exceptions are hydrochloric acid and sulphuric acid, which should never be used for descending.

This procedure should be followed:

• Let the appliance cool down sufficiently.
• Fill the reservoir with cold water.
• Add a descending agent to the water in the ratio indicated on the packaging.
• Put a paper filter in the filter holder. Do not forget to place the pot under the filter.
• Switch on the appliance.
• After approximately 2 cups of water have passed through the appliance, turn it off and leave it for half an hour to allow the descending agent to work.
• Turn the appliance on again. When all the water with descending agent has passed through, run clean water through the appliance three times to remove all traces of the descending agent.

U.K. WIRING INSTRUCTIONS

The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: BLUE=NEUTRAL, BROWN=LIVE, GREEN-YELLOW=EARTH

As the colours of the wire in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the colour markings identifying the terminals on your plug, proceed as follows:

The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black.

The wire which is coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.

THE GREEN-YELLOW WIRE should be connected to the earth terminal of a three pin plug marked with the letter E or 1 or coloured green and yellow.

With this appliance, if a 13 amp plug is used a 13 amp fuse should be fitted.
