How to turn the device on and off?

To turn on, press and hold the Power button (on/off). To turn off, press briefly (5 minutes) or hold down to turn off completely.

How to charge the battery?

Plug the provided USB cable into the device's USB port and into a wall charger or computer. The indicator light turns on during charging.

How to transfer files to the device?

Connect the device to a computer via the USB port. The device appears as a removable drive. Copy your files (books, music, images) into the corresponding folders (Documents, Music, Photos).

What book formats are supported?

The device supports TXT, EPUB, PDF, FB2, HTML, HTM formats. Other formats are not recognized.

How to insert a memory card?

Insert a TF card (microSD) into the slot on the side of the device, with the contacts facing inward. If the card is not recognized, remove it and reinsert it.

How to reset the device if it freezes?

Use a paperclip or a thin object to press the RESET button on the back or side. The device will restart.

How to adjust the font size in a book?

While reading, press Menu, then select Page settings. You can adjust letter size, zoom scale, line spacing, font family, and margins.

How to add a bookmark to a page?

While reading, press Menu and choose Add bookmarks. A marker will appear at the top of the page. To view your bookmarks, go to Check bookmarks and annotations.

How to listen to music while reading?

Open the music player from the desktop or menu. Start playback, then press Back to switch to the background. Music will continue while you read.

What to do if the device does not turn on at all?

First check the battery charge: plug the device into the charger for at least 30 minutes. If still nothing, perform a reset using the reset button. If the problem persists, contact customer service.

As I read the evidence at the inquest, which led up to a verdict of wilful murder against some person or persons unknown, I realised more clearly than I had ever done the loss which the community had sustained by the death of Sherlock Holmes. There were points about this strange business which would, I was sure, have specially appealed to him, and the efforts of the police would have been supplemented, or more probably anticipated, by the trained observation and the alert mind of the first criminal agent in Europe. All day as I drove upon my round I turned over the case in my mind, and found no explanation which appeared to me to be adequate. At the risk of telling a twice-told tale I will recapitulate the facts as they were known to the public at the conclusion of the inquest.

The Honourable Ronald Adair was the second son of the Earl of Maynooth, at that time Governor of one of the Australian Colonies. Adair's mother had returned from Australia to undergo the operation for cataract, and she, her son Ronald, and her daughter Hilda were living together at 427, Park Lane. The youth moved in the best society, had, so far as was known, no enemies, and no particular vices. He had been engaged to Miss Edith
