STEAM IRON OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Dear customer, IMETEC would like to thank you for purchasing this product. We are certain that

you will appreciate the quality and reliability of this appliance, which has been designed and

manufactured with customer satisfaction in mind. These operating instructions were created in

accordance with European standard EN 62079.

Instructions and information for a safe use

Please read these instructions completely and in particular the safety instructions before using your

appliance and follow these instructions carefully. Keep these instructions and the associated image

section in a convenient location for reference over the entire service life of the product and be sure

to include it if you pass the appliance on to another user.

• After unpacking, make sure that the appliance is intact with no signs of damage caused by

transport. Should you have any doubts, do not use the appliance and take it to an authorised

IMETEC Service Centre.

• The packaging is not a toy! If present, keep the plastic bag out of the reach of children (risk of

suffocation). Before connecting the appliance to the mains, check that the rating plate specifications

correspond to the electrical mains supply. The plate is on the bottom of the appliance.

• Do not use adapters, multiple sockets and/or extension cords. If the appliance’s plug and the

socket are incompatible, have the socket replaced with a suitable type by qualified staff.

• This appliance must only be used for the purpose for which it has been designed, that is, as a

steam iron. Any other use of the appliance is to be considered improper and therefore dangerous.

The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any damage due to improper or incorrect use.

• If the appliance is faulty or a malfunction occurs, switch it off. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.

Contact an authorised IMETEC dealer for repairs, and ask that original spare parts are used.

Failure to comply with the above could affect the safety of the appliance.

• If you decide to stop using this appliance, after removing the plug from the mains, it should be

rendered inoperative by cutting the power cord. Any potentially hazardous part of the appliance

should be made safe, especially in consideration of children who may play with old domestic

• The iron should always be used and placed on a stable surface. If the iron is placed on its stand,

ensure that the supporting surface is stable. The iron should not be used if it has been dropped,

if there are visible signs of damage, or if it is leaking water.

earthed electrical system as required by current legislation. This is a basic safety requirement and

in case of doubt, your electrical system should be carefully checked by an authorised IMETEC

service centre. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for any damage caused by a failure to

earth the electrical system.

• Before cleaning or maintenance, or if the iron is not in use, always disconnect the plug from the

Do not push the steam button when the iron is positioned on the heel rest.

Do not use chemical additives, fragrances or lime scale removing agents.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION This iron is intended for use with tap water. However, if the water in your region is very “hard” or comes from

areas close to the sea, you should use demineralized water for irons, available from the shops. In case of

doubt, only use demineralized water for irons.

Do not use chemical additives, fragranced liquids or lime scale removing agents. These substances may

damage the appliance.

The boiler may contain water already, as each appliance is tested before being sold.

Before using the iron for the first time, you should place a cloth between the iron and the fabric to be ironed.

Before ironing, you should spray a jet of steam into the air, to dispel any residual condensation.8

BEFORE USE Divide the laundry to be ironed according to the international symbols on the care labels, or alternatively,

according to the type of fabric.

Start by ironing garments that require a low temperature, to cut down on waiting time (the iron takes less time

to heat up than it does to cool down), and avoid the risk of singeing the fabric.

synthetics, acrylic, nylon and polyester: low temperatures;

wool, silk: medium temperatures;

cotton, linen: high temperatures;

fabric requires no ironing.

FILLING THE RESERVOIR Lift the lid on the water reservoir (1) and fill the reservoir with water. Do not allow the water to overflow. Then

• insert the plug (7) in a suitable socket;

• press the switches to turn on iron/boiler main swich (2)

• adjust the temperature of the iron (10) according to the international symbols on the care labels of the

clothes, and wait for the temperature light to switch off (9);

• turn the steam nozzle (6) to obtain the desired quantity of steam;

• when the steam is ready, the light (5) will remain switched on. You can now start ironing. While ironing,

the steam light (5) and iron temperature light (9) will turn on or switch off, indicating that the appliance is

maintaining optimal pressure and temperature;

• to iron with steam, press the steam button (11);

• to iron without steam, do not press the steam button (11).

• if the water in the reservoir falls below the minimum level, the water light will come on (4) and the iron will

stop producing steam;

• lift the lid on the water reservoir (1) and fill the reservoir with water. Do not allow the water to overflow. Then

CLEANING THE BOILER The boiler should be cleaned regularly, at least once every 3 months.

When the boiler needs cleaning, the steam light (5) will flash for 20 seconds when the iron is turned on. The

light will then remain switched on and you can begin ironing.

The steam light (5) will flash whenever the iron is turned on, until the boiler is cleaned.

Only clean the boiler when the iron is completely cold.

Sequence of operations:

• disconnect the plug (7) from the mains;

• hold the boiler above a sink;

• shake the base to allow flakes of lime scale to fall out (Fig. B);

• remove the cap cover (12) at the base of the boiler, turning it anti-clockwise (Fig.C);

• unscrew the cleaning cap (13) in an anti-clockwise direction, using a coin (Fig. D);

• allow the water and flakes of lime scale to flow out of the hole;

• shake the boiler again, to remove any remaining water or lime scale;

• tighten the cleaning cap (13) in a clockwise direction, using a coin;

• replace the cap cover (12) turning it in a clockwise direction.

• do not screw the cleaning cap (13) too tightly, as you may damage the screw thread;

• do not clean the boiler with detergent, anti-lime scale products, vinegar or any other type of

• cleaning should only be done when the boiler is cold, at least 4 hours after it has been turned off.

After cleaning, always fill the reservoir with water before using the boiler again. This must be

done in order to prevent overheating.

• press the buttons to turn off the iron/boiler main swich (2);

• disconnect the plug (7) from the mains;

• wait until the iron is completely cool before laying it flat. It is not necessary to empty the water reservoir.

• If you are not expecting to use the appliance for several weeks, empty the boiler completely: wait

for the appliance to cool down completely, then turn it upside down so that all the water in the

reservoir can flow out..

MAINTENANCE Cleaning the iron:

Before cleaning your iron, turn it off and remove the plug from the socket!

If necessary, clean the iron with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents or other harsh, abrasive detergents, as they

may damage the surface.

Before re-using the appliance, check that all the cleaned parts are completely dry!10

DISPOSAL The packaging is made from recyclable materials. It should be disposed of in accordance with
