. Do not use this apparatus near water — This apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing, and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.
6. Clean only with dry cloth.
7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions. The apparatus should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings. The apparatus must not be placed in a built-in installation, such as a closed bookcase or cabinet that may impede the flow of air through the ventilation openings. Ventilation should not be impeded by covering the openings with items such as newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, etc.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other
apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
9. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus.
10. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized
plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for the replacement of the obsolete outlet.
11. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched — particularly at plugs,
convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
Do not install in an ar ea which impedes the access to the power plug. Disconnecting the power plug is the only way to completely r emove power to the pr oduct and must be readily accessible at all times.
Power source — Use only power supplies of the type specified in the operating instr uctions or as marked on the appliance. If a separate power supply is included with this apparatus, do not substitute with any other power supply

14. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.

Position the Altec Lansing M604 on a level surface or mount it on the wall

. Place your Zune into the Altec Lansing M604 Zune dock and press down until it is fully seated on the dock connector.

Warning: Do not insert the speaker system’s power plug into a wall outlet until
all connections are made. Also, turn off the audio source (e.g., your Zune or alternate audio source) before connecting the output to the speaker system’s input. Note: Alternate audio sources — such as CD players, MP3 players, portable DVD players, and laptops — can also be connected to the Altec Lansing M604. For more information, see the “Connecting to alternate audio source” section.
1. With your Zune docked inside the Altec Lansing M604, turn on your Zune.
2. Turn on the Altec Lansing M604 by pushing the power button located on
the top of the unit. An LED will light when the power is on.

he Altec Lansing M604 includes a pass-through video feature that allows you to display videos and photos from your Zune onto a television set. To connect the Altec Lansing M604 to a television set or VCR, follow the steps below:
. Make sure the power to your television set or VCR is turned off.
. Locate a Composite (RCA) cable (sold separately).
3. Connect one end of the Composite (RCA) cable to the Composite (RCA) port
n the back of the Altec Lansing M604 and the other end to the yellow
omposite (RCA) input on your television set or VCR.
The Altec Lansing M604 includes a auxiliary input jack that allows you to connect
o alternate audio sources, such as CD players, MP3 players, portable DVD players, and laptops. To connect the Altec Lansing M604 to an alternate audio source, follow the steps below.
. Connect one end of the 3.5 mm stereo cable into the auxiliary input jack (AUX) located on the back of the Altec Lansing M604, and the other end to
he headphone or line out jack on your alternate audio device.
3. Set the volume on the audio source at mid-level.
4. Set the volume on the Altec Lansing M604 at minimum level and adjust

The “+” and “–” buttons on the top of the Altec Lansing M604 are the master volume contro ls. Press and hold the “+” button to incre ase the volume and the “–” button to decrease the volume. An LED indicator is located on the front of
To control treble or bass levels, press the “TREBLE” or “BASS” buttons on the top of the unit and press and hold the “+” button to increase the corresponding level, or the “–” button to decrease it. To control treble or bass levels using the wireless remote, press the “TREBLE” or “BASS” or buttons on the wireless remote, and press and hold the “+” button to increase the corresponding level, or the “–” button to decrease it. An LED indicator located on the front of the unit will indicate the corresponding level. Note: After a few seconds, the “+” and “–” controls will automatically reset to “Volume.”
To reset volume, bass and treble functions to original factory settings, press and hold the power button on the top of the unit for five seconds.
The Altec Lansing M604 includes a pass-through feature that allows you to connect your Zune to your computer. To connect the Altec Lansing M604 to a PC or laptop, follow the steps below:
- Locate a mini USB-to-USB cable and connect the mini USB connector to the back of the Altec Lansing M604, and the USB connector to the USB port on the PC computer, Mac computer, or USB hub.

Static electricity, momentary interruption of power, or abnormal operating conditions may be responsible. Insert the barrel connector from the power supply into the DC connector on

- Connect an alternate audio source — such as a CD player, MP3 player, or portable DVD player — to your Altec Lansing M604 by plugging one end of a 3.5mm stereo cable to the line out of your portable device (if it has one) or to the device’s headphone jack. Connect the other end to the input marked “AUX” on the back of the Altec Lansing M604.
- Set the volume on the audio source at mid-level.
- Set the volume on the Altec Lansing M604 at minimum level and adjust upward to a comfortable listening level. Check the operating system volume level and decrease it if necessary. The “+” and “–” buttons on the top of the Altec Lansing M604 are the master volume controls. Press and hold the “–” button to decrease the volume. Move the unit to see if the interference goes away. Move the GSM cell phone away from the unit. Disconnect the AC power cord from the wall outlet, wait 20–30 seconds, and
