Safety Information about the power supply
- Before connecting the device to your power supply, please ensure that the supply voltage stated on the rating plate is compatible with your mains supply.
- Do not use the appliance if it is damaged, if its power cord or plug is damaged, if it is not in perfect working order, or if it has been dropped or fallen into water.
- If you notice any damage, dispose of the appliance or have it repaired by an authorised service centre. Do not attempt to repair the device yourself in the event of a malfunction since this will invalidate the warranty.
- Only insert the plug into a power socket when the appliance is switched off.
- Do not touch the mains plug if you are standing in water and only ever touch the plug when your hands are dry.
- If the device falls into water, do not try to pick it up. Instead pull the plug out immediately.
- Keep the appliance and its power cord away from hot surfaces, naked flames and other heat sources.
- Lay the power cord so that there is no danger of tripping over it.
- Switch off all functions after use and pull the plug out of the power socket.
Always pull on the plug itself when disconnecting the device from the power supply. Never pull on the power cord!
Never carry, pull or rotate the device by the mains cable and never pinch the cable between other objects. Do not wind the cord around the appliance. specific groups of people
- This device is not designed to be used by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental abilities, or by persons with insufficient experience and/or knowledge, unless under observation by a person respon- sible for their safety, or unless they have been instructed in the use of the device.
Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
- On first using the appliance, you may experience eye fatigue or headache. This is normal and soon passes. If the symptoms persist, consult your doctor and stop using the appliance. Proper use
- The LSC phototherapy unit provides a light bath to treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD), also known as the “winter blues”. Contraindication
- Consult your doctor if using the appliance leads to hyperactivity, exhaustion, depression, restlessness, sleep disorders or other health problems. In this case, stop using the appliance immediately. operating the unit
- Use the device only according to its intended purpose as specified in the instruction manual. The warranty will be invalidated if the device is used for purposes other than those for which it is intended.
- Before each use, check the appliance, power cord and plug for damage. Never use the appliance if it is damaged or if its power cord or plug is damaged.

- The appliance is designed for private households only and not for commercial use.
- Only use the appliance in enclosed rooms, never outside or in damp rooms.
Place the device on a firm, level surface during use so that it cannot tip over.

- Do not look directly at the fluorescent screen for any length of time when it is switched on.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended when it is in operation. This is especially important when children are using it.
- Do not cover up the appliance during operation or while it is cooling down.

- You may only clean the device yourself. If the device malfunctions please do not repair it yourself as this leads to the automatic expiry of all guarantee rights. Consult your specialist dealer and only have repairs, such as replacing the power cord, performed by authorised service centres or similarly qualified specialist to avoid any risk of danger.
- Do not immerse the device in water or other fluids.
- If, nonetheless, liquid should penetrate the device, unplug the mains cable immediately.
- After each use and before cleaning, switch off the appliance using the ON/OFF button

Special features of the LSC phototherapy unit
Items supplied and packaging Thank you for your confidence in us and congratulations! The LSC phototherapy unit is a quality product from MEDISANA. To get the best use of your MEDISANA LSC phototherapy unit and to ensure a long service life, we recommend that you carefully read the following instructions on using and taking care of it. Please check first of all that the device is complete and is not damaged in any way. If in doubt, do not use it. Send it to a service point. The following parts are included:
- 1 MEDISANA LSC phototherapy unit
- 2 Instruction manuals The packaging can be reused or recycled. Please dispose properly of any packaging material no longer required. If you notice any transport damage during unpacking, please contact your dealer without delay. WARNING Please ensure that the polythene packing is kept away from the reach of children! Risk of suffocation! Many people suffer from symptoms of tiredness in winter due to the lack of sunlight. The LSC phototherapy unit provides a light bath to treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD), also known as the “winter blues”. It is an appropriate and effective method of compensating for the lack of sunlight in the autumn and winter without resorting to drugs. Possible applications The appliance is used to counteract the following symptoms of winter depression:

Usage 3 Operating Time, frequency and duration of use The most effective time of day to use the phototherapy unit is between 6 in the morning and 8 in the evening. You can use the unit for up to 2 hours daily. You can use the phototherapy unit as often as you like. However, the treatment is most effective if you use it on at least five successive days. The length of time you can use the LSC phototherapy unit depends on how far you are away from it: Distance to panel Maximum duration of use 60 cm approx. 2 hours 40 cm approx. 1 hour 20 cm approx. 30 minutes

5. You can take a break or stop at any time. As long as you do not move more
than 60 cm away from the unit, you can do other things during the treat- ment, such as read or watch television.
6. Do not look directly at the fluorescent screen
for any length of time when it is switched on. It is enough to regularly turn your face towards it.

8. Let the appliance cool down for at least 15 minutes before putting it away
On average, the fluorescent lamps need to be changed after approximately 8000 hours’ use. If a lamp fails, it must be replaced. In order to change a fluorescent lamp, the appliance must be completely disassembled. Have the lamps changed by your specialist dealer, an authorised service centre or a qualified specialist to prevent damage to the appliance. WARNING
- Used fluorescent lamps must be disposed of in accordance with the applicable regulations on environmentally harmful waste. If you have any questions about disposal, contact your local authority or your dealer.
- Before changing the fluorescent lamps, the device must always be switched off using the ON/OFF switch
must be disconnected from the mains socket. Beware of electric shock.
- Be careful when handling fluorescent lamps – they can easily break.
- Always replace fluorescent lamps with lamps of the same type. Always replace both lamps at the same time.
- Before cleaning the appliance, switch it off using the ON/OFF button
and pull the power plug
out of the socket. Risk of electric shock!
- Let the appliance cool down completely before cleaning it.
- Do not immerse the device in water or other fluids.
- When cleaning the device, never use aggressive cleaning agents, scouring agents or solvents; neither should you use scouring pads, steel wool or tough brushes. This can damage the surfaces.
- Clean the appliance using a soft, lint-free cloth, if necessary dampened with mild, warm soapy water and well wrung out. Do not allow water to penetrate the appliance.
- Only use the appliance again after cleaning once it is completely dry.
- Do not expose the unit to direct sunlightor high temperature; protect it against dust and moisture.
- Keep the appliance in a safe, dry place, preferably in the original packaging.

Disposal This product must not be disposed of together with domestic waste. All users are obliged to hand in all electrical or electronic devices, regardless of whether or not they contain toxic substances, at a municipal or commer- cial collection point so that they can be disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner. Consult your municipal authority or your dealer for information about disposal. Please contact your dealer or the service centre in case of a claim under the warranty. If you have to return the unit, please enclose a copy of your receipt and state what the defect is. The following warranty terms apply:
1. The warranty period for MEDISANA products is three years from date of
purchase. In case of a warranty claim, the date of purchase has to be proven by means of the sales receipt or invoice.
2. Defects in material or workmanship will be removed free of charge within
the warranty period.
3. Repairs under warranty do not extend the warranty period either for the
unit or for the replacement parts.
4. The following is excluded under the warranty:
a. All damage which has arisen due to improper treatment, e.g. non- observance of the user instructions. b. All damage which is due to repairs or tampering by the customer or unauthorised third parties. c. Damage which has arisen during transport from the manufacturer to the consumer or during transport to the service centre. d. Accessories which are subject to normal wear and tear
5. Liability for direct or indirect consequential losses caused by the unit are
excluded even if the damage to the unit is accepted as a warranty claim.
