NOVA Contact Grill 4-in-1
NOTHING COMPARES TO NOVA
- NOVA Contact Grill 4-in-1
Read these instructions thoroughly first and keep them for future reference. Check that your domestic electricity supply matches that of the appliance. Only connect this appliance to an earthed socket. The Nova Contact Grill 4-in-1 is a professional 4-in-1 appliance. The appliance can be used as a waffle iron with the 4x4 waffle plates. The Nova Contact Grill 4-in-1 can also be used as a sandwich maker. You can attach the toaster plates to the appliance for this purpose. Finally, the appliance can be used folded out as a grill with the two grill plates that are included. All the plates are of solid, cast light metal and are coated with a non-stick layer. Because of this, the appliance can be cleaned quickly and easily. With its indicator light and variable thermostat, the Nova Contact Grill 4-in-1 is a very practical appliance. We recommend that you wash the plates carefully before use in warm water with a little washing-up liquid, and then dry them well. The plates may give off a little smoke when used for the first time. This is normal for new heating elements and will stop after a short time.
To attach the plates firmly or to switch them, it is best to open out the appliance completely first. This is done as follows: - Raise the cover of the appliance until it remains upright without being held. - Now pull the cover directly upwards until it will go no further. - Now you can fold the cover back so that it is completely flat. This is the position for grilling. To use the appliance as a waffle iron or sandwich maker, fold the lid forward in the reverse order. When the appliance is completely folded open you can change the plates easily. Place the appliance on a stable, heat-resistant surface. The appliance can now be opened. Grease the plates lightly with cooking oil (only the first time and after cleaning). Close the appliance and allow the plates to heat up by setting the temperature regulator on the right side. If you are intending to use the appliance as a grill you do not need to close it while it is heating. The plates will have achieved the right temperature when the indicator light goes out. Experiment a little with the temperature setting until you have found the ideal setting.
TO USE AS A WAFFLE IRON
Important: Wait until the plates are at the right temperature. Always prepare the dough at room temperature. Liquid dough: Use a ladle to ensure that the formed surface of the lower plate is covered sufficiently. Firm dough: Knead 2 balls of dough and lay these on the centre of the plates. Make sure that the dough is distributed evenly. Close the appliance. The dough will now flow into the formed surface of the other plate. When the waffles are ready you can remove them, preferably with a two-pronged fork. Be careful not to damage the non-stick coating when doing this. The plates will have been forced apart a little by steam pressure during the baking process. This is completely normal. Bake at the correct temperature, otherwise the waffles will stick to the plates. Do not open the waffle iron too quickly or the waffles will be pulled apart.
TO USE AS SANDWICH MAKER
Wait until the plates are at the right temperature. Place a slice of bread on the lower plate, then the filling, then another slice of bread. Close the appliance. The toasted sandwich will be ready after about 3 minutes. You should use a wooden or plastic spatula to remove the toasted sandwich in order to avoid damage to the non-stick coating.
In order to grill, heat the appliance while closed as it will heat much faster like this. When the plates are heated, open the appliance. This open grilling position is handy for use in the kitchen and is also very nice at the table! Moreover, it is a healthy way to grill or fry because no oil or butter is required. The cooking time and temperature setting will depend on the chosen dish or ingredients. You can, of course, experiment with the cooking time and the temperature setting to get the best results. Small pieces of meat, fish etc. will be cooked through faster than large pieces. Turn meat and fish once only in order to prevent them from drying out. For the same reason it is better to use a spatula than to prick with a fork. Use a wooden or plastic spatula on the frying plate. Do not use metal implements as these could damage the non-stick coating. You can also grill while the appliance is closed. To do this, place the meat, fish or other ingredients on the lowest frying plate before closing the appliance. CLEANING ALWAYS UNPLUG THE APPLIANCE BEFORE CLEANING. Clean the appliance after each time that you use it. Allow the appliance to cool completely first. Clean the outside with a damp cloth. The plates should be cleaned in warm water with washing-up liquid and then rinsed with clean water from the tap. Do not use any sharp metal objects or aggressive substances on the non-stick coating. If the plates are very dirty they should be soaked for half an hour in hot water and detergent. After grilling it is frequently only necessary to wipe the plates with kitchen paper while the appliance is still warm. DAMAGE TO THE PLATES FROM SHARP OBJECTS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE GUARANTEE!
