How to connect the DDJ-FLX4 to my computer?

Use the included USB cable (Type-C) to connect the device to a USB port on your PC/Mac. Make sure the DJ software (rekordbox or Serato) is installed before connecting. For sufficient power, plug directly into the computer or use a 9V/3A USB AC adapter on the power port.

Can I use the controller with my smartphone or tablet?

Yes, via a USB or Bluetooth connection. For iOS/Android, install rekordbox for iOS/Android. For USB, use the appropriate cable and an AC adapter to power the device. For Bluetooth, pair via the app settings on your mobile device. Note that sound is not transmitted via Bluetooth; use the device's outputs.

What to do if the device is not recognized by my PC/Mac?

1. Use the included USB cable without a hub. 2. Close other applications. 3. Restart the computer. 4. On Mac, check in 'Audio MIDI Setup' that 'DDJ-FLX4' appears. 5. On Windows, check in Device Manager. 6. Try another USB port. Consult the Pioneer DJ online FAQ if the problem persists.

How to set up audio in rekordbox?

In rekordbox, go to Preferences > Audio. For Mac, set Output Channels to 'DDJ-FLX4: MASTER' for the main output and 'DDJ-FLX4: PHONES' for the headphones. For Windows, select 'DDJ-FLX4 WASAPI' as the audio device, then the same output channels. Enable or disable the PC MASTER OUT function depending on whether you want sound through the computer's speakers.

How to use the Smart Fader?

Load two tracks on decks 1 and 2. Press the [SMART FADER] button to activate it. Beat Sync activates automatically. Then use the channel faders and crossfader to mix. The Smart Fader automatically adjusts BPM, LOW EQ, and adds an echo effect to smooth the mix. To deactivate, press the button again.

How to create an auto beat loop of 4 beats?

During playback of a track, simply press the [4 BEAT/EXIT] button. A 4-beat loop starts immediately. To cancel, press the same button again. You can also adjust the loop length with the [CUE/LOOP CALL] buttons (halve or double) or use the Performance Pads in Beat Loop mode.

The microphone is not working, what to do?

1. Plug the mic into the [MIC] input on the back. 2. Adjust the [MIC ATT.] knob on the rear panel to set the gain. 3. Turn the [MIC LEVEL] knob on the top panel. 4. In rekordbox, go to Preferences > Controller > Mixer and set Microphone input to 'Effect Mode' to use effects, or 'Low Latency Mode' for direct sound. Also check that the mixer panel shows 'MIC ON'.

How to sync the tempo of two tracks?

Use the Beat Sync function. Press the [BEAT SYNC] button on a deck to automatically sync its tempo and beat grid with the master deck. The master deck is the one where the [BEAT SYNC] button is held down for at least one second. To cancel sync, press [BEAT SYNC] again.

Which DJ software is compatible with the DDJ-FLX4?

The controller is compatible with rekordbox (Mac/Windows/iOS/Android) and Serato DJ Lite (provided free). It also works with Serato DJ Pro (paid license required). How to reset the device to default settings?

To reset settings, you can use Utilities mode. Disconnect the USB cable. Hold down the [PLAY/PAUSE] buttons on both decks and reconnect the USB cable. The level indicators flash. Then press Performance Pad 8 on the left deck (to reset all settings) or follow the Utilities mode instructions. Demo mode can be set via pads 1-4 on the left deck.
