How to change the display language?

Press the MENU button to display the menu, navigate to the Preferences tab (key icon), select Language/言語 and choose the desired language. Confirm with OK.

What to do if the camera does not turn on?

Check that the batteries are inserted correctly and of a compatible type (lithium, Ni-MH or alkaline AA). Make sure the battery compartment cover is properly closed. If the battery indicator flashes, replace the batteries. In cold weather, warm the batteries in your pocket.

How to use the Shake Reduction function?

Flip the Shake Reduction switch (hand symbol) on top of the camera to activate. An indicator appears in the viewfinder. This function compensates for camera shake up to about 4 stops. Disable it when using a tripod.

Why are my photos blurry?

Several possible causes: camera shake (use the Shake Reduction function or a tripod), moving subject (increase shutter speed), incorrect focus (check the focus indicator in the viewfinder), or dirty lens. For slow speeds, use Shutter Priority mode or increase ISO sensitivity.

How to set the date and time?

Press MENU, go to the Preferences tab, select Date and Time Change. Set the format (dd/mm/yy or mm/dd/yy), 12h/24h mode, then the date and time with navigation keys. Confirm with OK.

What types of batteries can I use?

You can use four AA batteries: lithium (recommended for cold weather), rechargeable Ni-MH (economical, require charger), or alkaline (emergency use only). Do not mix types or brands. Remove batteries if not used for extended periods.

How to insert an SD memory card?

Turn off the camera. Open the side compartment, insert the card (label facing the screen) until it clicks. To remove, push the card then release. Never remove the card while the access indicator is blinking. Format new cards via Preferences > Format.

What does the battery indicator mean?

The battery symbol on the control panel indicates the status: ∟□ steady = full, ∟□ = discharging, ∟□ low, flashing = battery exhausted (camera turns off). Replace with new batteries.

How to take photos with the built-in flash?

The flash pops up automatically in AUTO PICT mode when needed. To use it manually, press the UP button (flash) to raise it. Use the Fn menu to select the flash mode: Auto, Forced, Red-eye Reduction, etc. Press the shutter button halfway to check the charge (icon 4 in viewfinder).

How to clean the CCD sensor?

Use the Sensor Cleaning function in the Preferences menu: the sensor vibrates at high speed to remove dust. You can also use a blower after raising the mirror (Mirror Lock-up mode). For professional cleaning, contact Pentax after-sales service.
