Frequently Asked Questions - M60 PENTAX

How to recharge the camera battery?
Use the supplied D-BC78 battery charger. Connect the power cord to the charger, then to a wall outlet. Insert the D-LI78 battery into the charger with the PENTAX logo facing up. The indicator lights up during charging and turns off when charging is complete (approx. 150 minutes). Only recharge D-LI78 batteries.
How to insert the SD memory card?
Make sure the camera is off. Open the battery/card compartment cover by sliding the lock lever. Insert the SD memory card into the slot with the label facing forward (lens side) until it clicks. Close the cover. To remove, push the card to eject it.
How to set the initial date and time?
When turning on the camera for the first time, the setup screen appears. Use the navigation button to select the language, then set the city and daylight saving time. Then choose the date format (DD/MM/YY, etc.) and 12h/24h display. Use the ▲▼ buttons to change values, then press OK. You can also change them later in the Settings menu.
How to use the face recognition function?
Face recognition is enabled by default. Press the © button to switch between Face Priority On, Smile Capture (automatic shutter release when the subject smiles), and Face Priority Off. The camera detects up to 32 faces and automatically focuses and exposes on the main face.
How to transfer photos to a computer?
Use the supplied I-USB7 USB cable. Connect the small end to the camera and the large end to the computer. Turn on the camera in playback mode (press the ▶ button). The computer will recognize the camera as a storage device. You can then copy the files. Make sure the USB connection mode is set to Computer in the Settings menu.
How to take a night scene photo?
Press the ▼ button to open the capture mode palette. Select the Night Scene (moon) or Night Portrait icon. These modes use slower shutter speeds, so use a tripod or place the camera on a stable surface to avoid camera shake. The flash can be turned off or set to Auto depending on the mode.
What to do if the screen displays 'Battery exhausted'?
The 'Battery exhausted' message indicates that the battery is too low. Replace it with a charged D-LI78 battery or recharge it immediately. The camera will shut down after the message. If the battery is charged and the message persists, it may be at the end of its life. Replace it with a new one.
How to delete images?
In playback mode, display the image to delete. Press the green/️ button. A confirmation screen appears. Use ▲▼ to select Delete and press OK. To delete multiple images, use the 9-image display (wide zoom button) then press green to access multiple selection.
How to use the self-timer?
In capture mode, press the ▲ button (top of navigator). Each press changes the shooting mode. Select the self-timer (clock icon): Self-timer 10 s or 2 s. Press the shutter button fully; the indicator blinks and the photo is taken after the delay. To cancel, press ▲ again until returning to Single shot.
How to protect images from deletion?
In playback mode, display the image to protect. Press MENU to open the Settings menu (or from the playback mode palette). Navigate to the Protect option (or use the context menu depending on display). Select Protect to lock the image. A lock icon appears. To protect multiple images, use the 9-image display and selection. To unprotect, repeat the operation.
