How to recharge the camera battery?
Use the supplied D-BC8 charger. Plug the power cord into the charger, then into a wall outlet. Place the D-Li8 battery in the charger (PENTAX logo visible). The red indicator light shows charging, green when finished (approx. 100 minutes).
How to install an SD memory card?
Turn off the camera. Open the battery/card compartment cover. Insert the card (label facing the screen) until it clicks. Close the cover. To remove, press the card to eject it.
How to take a photo in auto mode?
Turn on the camera with the main switch. Frame the subject on the LCD screen. Press the shutter button halfway for focusing, then fully to take the photo. The image is displayed briefly (instant review).
How to set the date and time?
Go to the [Preferences] menu by pressing MENU, then select [Date setting]. Use the navigation buttons to change month, day, year, hour, and minutes. Choose 12h/24h format with the display button. Confirm.
How to use night scene mode?
In capture mode, press the navigation button (▼) to display the virtual mode selector. Select the night scene (R) icon and confirm. The camera automatically sets a slower shutter speed. Use a tripod to avoid blur.
How to view photos on a TV?
Connect the camera to the TV using the supplied AV cable. Plug the cable into the camera's AV jack and the TV's video input. Set the TV to the correct input. Images are displayed on the screen.
How to delete an image?
In playback mode, display the image to delete. Press the Delete button. A menu appears: select [Delete] with the navigation button (▲) and confirm. To delete all images, choose [All images].
How to use the self-timer?
In capture mode, press the navigation button (▲) until the self-timer (©) icon appears on the screen. Then press the shutter button. The photo is taken after approx. 10 seconds. The indicator blinks during the countdown.
How to transfer photos to a computer?
Install the supplied software (ACDSee) on your PC. Connect the camera to the computer with the USB cable. Turn on the camera. The images appear as a removable drive. Copy the files. Then disconnect via the safely remove hardware icon.
What to do if the camera does not turn on?
Check that the battery is correctly installed and charged. If depleted, recharge it with the D-BC8 charger. Ensure the battery is properly seated (▲ symbol toward the screen). If the problem persists, use the optional AC adapter.
