ENGLISH Instructions for use Please see illustrations on page III Illustration 1 Wash the lid, jug and funnel in warm soapy water. Do not use any abrasive cleaners. Note: the jug and the funnel may be washed in the dishwasher. The lid, incl. the electronic Memo, must not be washed in the dishwasher. Illustration 2 Bluestone Sales and Distribution Ltd. Naxxar NXR 04 Tel. 021413985 To prepare the cartridge, please remove protective wrapper (note: cartridge and inside wrapper may appear moist, this is simply condensation). Immerse cartridge in cold water and shake it gently to remove any air bubbles, the filter is now ready for use. Illustration 3 Place the BRITA filter cartridge in the funnel so that the groove on the side of the filter cartridge fits into the wedge of the funnel. Press the filter cartridge into the funnel firmly to ensure a tight seal. The cartridge should stay in place if the funnel is turned upside down. Illustration 4 Fill the funnel with cold tap water and allow it to filter through. When filling the funnel, make sure that the jet of water does not go directly onto the cartridge, but is aimed into the funnel to the side of it. Discard the first two fillings (or use the water for your plants) in order to remove any carbon particles.
ENGLISH ENGLISH Memo The BRITA cartridge: When to change? Please see illustrations on page IV To ensure an optimum performance you should change your cartridge at least every four weeks. Illustration 5
To ensure optimum performance you should change your BRITA filter cartridge on a regular basis. For best results change your cartridge every four weeks. The unique ”BRITA Memo” measures the recommended time of use of your cartridge. Memo is easy to use and automatically reminds you when to change your cartridge. To start / reset the exchange indicator (Memo) Illustration 5.1 to 5.3 To start Memo please press and hold down the start button on the lid until all four bars appear in the display and flash twice. The Memo is now set. A small flashing dot in the bottom right hand corner of the display will show that the Memo is working. Illustration 5.4 After each week one bar will disappear to show the remaining cartridge life. Illustration 5.5 Change the filter cartridge when all the bars have disappeared and an arrow starts to flash after approximately four weeks. A new cartridge should be primed and inserted and the exchange indicator reset as above (please follow illustrations 5.1 to 5.5). Note: When one bar remains in the display ensure that you have a new cartridge ready for exchange. Remember: The BRITA Memo is designed to be used only with the original BRITA cartridge range. Memo, the electronic cartridge exchange indicator automatically reminds you when to change your cartridge. Cartridge life depends on local water quality, for example in an area with hard water (based on carbonate hardness of 10° to 12° German hardness) the BRITA Classic cartridge will filter approx. 100 litres. Please store any replacement cartridge in the original sealed wrapper and in a dry and cool place. Care of system ● Keep your water filter system out of sunlight and away from heating elements, e.g. stove, coffee machine. We recommend you store your water filter in a cool place. ● Remember that water is a foodstuff. We recommend that filtered water is consumed within one to two days. ● Wash the parts of your filter system regularly in warm soapy water at least every time you change the filter cartridge. Do not use any abrasive cleaners. Note: the jug and the funnel may be washed in the dishwasher. The lid must not be washed in the dishwasher. ● Should your BRITA system not be in use for a prolonged period (e.g. vacation), we recommend that you discard any water left inside the system and leave the cartridge inside the funnel. Before using the system again take out the cartridge, clean the system, and repeat step two to four of the “Instructions for use”. Important notes The BRITA cartridge The BRITA cartridge reduces substances like chlorine, limescale and heavy metals. To achieve optimum filter performance BRITA recommend that if you have re-filled the funnel 2 – 3 times in quick succession you should allow the cartridge to rest by not refilling the funnel again for 15 – 30 minutes. You will enjoy cleaner, clearer, great tasting water for hot and cold drinks and delicious food. Also your domestic appliances will have less scale build up. ● BRITA Memo – The electronic cartridge exchange indicator has a life of approximately 5 years. If your BRITA Memo is no longer working, contact the BRITA Care Customer Services team who will be pleased to help with a replacement for a small charge. At the end of the Memo’s life please remember that it is an electronic device and to dispose of the lid accordingly.

BRITA filter cartridges are steam sterilised. An independent institute certifies the BRITA water filters as well as the cartridges are food grade quality. the notch next to the “Memo” and push it out. Please note that “Memo” should not be removed for any other reason than to dispose of it.

Terms & Conditions ● The BRITA Household Water Filter System is designed for use only with municipally treated tap water (note: this water is constantly controlled and according to legal regulations safe to drink) or with water from private supplies which has been tested as safe to drink. If an instruction is received from the authorities that mains water must be boiled, the BRITA filtered water must also be boiled. When the instruction to boil water is no longer in force, the entire filter system must be cleaned and a new filter cartridge inserted. ● Only filter cold water. ● For certain groups of people (e.g. those with impaired immunity and for babies), it is generally recommended that tap water should be boiled; this also applies to filtered water. Irrespective of the water used, you should use utensils with stainless steel, such as kettles and saucepans, to boil the water. In particular, people who are sensitive to nickel should use appliances made of stainless steel or kettles with concealed elements. ● For reasons of hygiene, the cartridge is given a special treatment with silver. A small amount of silver, which poses no known threat to health, may be transferred to the water. This transference would be within the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines. ● Note for people with kidney disease or dialysis patients: You request for a refund must be made within 30 days of the date of purchase.
