How to insert the battery and memory card?

Open the compartment located under the device. Insert the battery with the Samsung logo facing up. Insert the memory card with the contacts facing up (chip facing up). Close the cover.

How to charge the battery?

Use the supplied charger. Plug it into a power outlet. The indicator light is red during charging and turns green when charging is complete.

How to set the date and time?

Turn on the device. On first startup, the setup screen appears. Use the navigation buttons to select 'Date & Time', then adjust the values with the arrows. Confirm with OK.

How to take a photo in automatic mode?

Turn the dial to AUTO mode. Frame your subject. Press the shutter button halfway to focus (a green frame appears). Press fully to take the photo.

How to record a video?

Turn the dial to video mode. Press the shutter button to start recording. Press again to stop. You can pause recording with the appropriate button.

How to transfer photos to a Windows PC?

Install the supplied CD-ROM. Connect the device to the PC with the USB cable. Turn on the device. On the computer, go to 'My Computer' > 'Removable Disk' > 'DCIM' > '100SSCAM'. Copy the desired files.

What memory card can I use?

The device accepts SD cards up to 4 GB, SDHC up to 8 GB and MMC Plus up to 2 GB. Use recognized brand cards.

How to clean the lens?

Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the lens. Avoid any contact with liquids. Do not use chemicals.

What are the important safety precautions?

Do not use the device near flammable gases or liquids. Keep it out of reach of children. Do not use the flash less than 1 meter from eyes (risk of injury). Use only Samsung batteries and chargers.

How to use the zoom?

Use the zoom lever located on top of the device. Push towards T (Tele) to zoom in, towards W (Wide-angle) to zoom out. The optical zoom is 10x; beyond that, digital zoom activates.

Turning on your camera

1 Press [POWER].

• The initial setup screen appears.

2 Press [O].
3 Press [ ] or [ ] to select a language and press [OK].
4 Press [■] or [■] to select Date & Time and press [心].
5 Press [4] or [0] to select an item.
6 Press [■] or [■] to change the number or select another date format and press [OK].

In Shooting mode, press [Fn].
2 Use the navigation buttons to scroll to an option or menu.

• To move left or right, press [4] or [心].
  To move up or down, press [■] or [■].

3 Press [OK] to confirm the highlighted option or menu.

• Press [Fn] again to go back to the previous menu.

Capturing photos or videos

Taking a photo

1 Rotate the mode dial to AUTO.
2 Align your subject in the frame.
3 Press [Shutter] halfway down to focus automatically.

• A green frame means the subject in focus.

4 Press [Shutter] all the way down to take the photo.

Recording a video

1 Rotate the mode dial to
2 Align your subject in the frame.
3 Press [Shutter].

• Press [ ] to pause or resume.
  4 Press [Shutter] again to stop the recording.

Transferring files to a PC (Windows)

1 Insert the installation CD in a CD-ROM drive and follow the onscreen instructions.
2 Connect the camera to the PC with the USB cable.

Disconnecting safely (for Windows XP)

3 Turn on the camera.
4 On your PC, select My Computer → Removable Disk → DCIM → 100SSCAM.
5 Select the files you want and drag or save them to the PC.
