Frequently Asked Questions - LIGHTNESS AX
What is the recommended tightening torque for the bolts of the AX LIGHTNESS saddle?
The tightening torque to be respected is 3 Nm. Excessive tightening could damage the saddle.
Should I replace the saddle after a fall even if it looks intact?
Yes, after a fall or violent impact, the saddle must be replaced even if no damage (scratch, crack, deformation) is visible to the naked eye.
What are the risks if I use clamping parts less than 4 mm thick?
Clamping parts with sharp edges or a thickness less than 4 mm risk damaging the saddle. These damages are not covered by the warranty.
Can I use non-AX spare parts on the LIGHTNESS saddle?
No, it is strongly advised not to replace a component with a foreign part. All parts are matched to ensure safety and performance.
How to clean the AX LIGHTNESS saddle?
Use a soft cloth and soapy water. Avoid aggressive solvents that could damage the composite material.
What is the correct position of the clamping mechanism relative to the saddle?
The ends of the clamping mechanism must be positioned at least 8 mm before the end of the cylindrical part of the saddle frame.
Is the AX LIGHTNESS saddle suitable for carrying loads?
No, it is exclusively designed for normal riding conditions and not for carrying additional loads.
What should I do if I notice deformation or a crack on the saddle?
The saddle must be replaced immediately. Even invisible damage can compromise safety, especially after an impact.
How to check the saddle attachment before each ride?
Visually inspect the saddle and clamping mechanism. Make sure the torque is correct (3 Nm) and that there is no play.
Can I modify the saddle or treat it chemically?
No, the components must not be modified or treated mechanically or chemically. This would void the warranty and could compromise safety.

AX-LIGHTNESS CARBONE PRODUKTE
- The component you have purchased is made from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic. In most cases, the use of these materials results in a major weight reduction compared with solutions involving metal. However, laminates are more sensitive to stresses, so it is essential to observe the instructions below. In addition, the component must be replaced with a new part after falls, buckling and stone impacts, even if no damage can be seen externally (scratches, discolorations, cracks, deformations). Before every journey, check the component visually for scratches, discolorations, cracks and deformations. It is also essential to check that the component has been fitted in accordance with the
relevant instructions. Check before every journey that the parts are firmly secured.
- The individual elements of our components and assemblies are matched to each other and must not be replaced by parts from other sources. Never treat the individual elements of our components and modules with chemicals or do mechanical work on them.
- AX-Lightness components are designed solely for cycling and are not suitable for carrying additional loads.
AX-LIGHTNESS SADDLE
- Use a tightening torque of 3 Nm throughout.
- Those parts of the saddle post clamping mechanism that are in direct contact with the saddle must be radiused to at least 2mm .
- The parts of the saddle post clamping mechanism must end at least 8mm before the end of the cylindrical part of the saddle frame.
- Saddle post clamping parts that have sharp edges and/or thin walls (less than 4mm thick) may damage the saddle. Such cases are not covered by the warranty or guarantee.
