What types of batteries can I use with the Pentax K-50?

You can use the supplied rechargeable lithium-ion battery D-LI109 or, optionally, the battery holder D-BH109 with four AA batteries (lithium, rechargeable Ni-MH, or alkaline).

Which lenses are compatible with the K-50?

Compatible lenses include DA, DA L, D FA, FA J lenses and lenses with an A position on the aperture ring. Other lenses may have limited functionality.

How does the Shake Reduction image stabilization work?

The Shake Reduction stabilization uses sensor shift to compensate for camera movement. It is activated via the menu and has three modes: standard, vertical panning, and horizontal panning.

How to clean the CMOS sensor of the K-50?

Use the Sensor Cleaning function in the menu to vibrate the sensor and dislodge dust. For deeper cleaning, use a blower or send the camera to a PENTAX service center (fee-based).

How to adjust the autofocus?

The focus mode selector offers AF.S (single), AF.C (continuous), and MF (manual). In AUTO mode, the selection is automatic. You can select the AF point using the navigation button.

Can I record Full HD videos with the K-50?

Yes, the K-50 records Full HD 1080p video at 30 frames per second. Use the mode dial to select the video position and adjust settings in the Video menu.

How to use the built-in flash?

Press the Flash button to pop it up. You can choose between Auto, Red-eye reduction, Slow sync, etc. The flash fires automatically in AUTO mode if needed.

How to save an image in RAW format?

In the Capture mode 1 menu, set the file format to RAW or RAW+JPEG. You can also press the RAW/Fx button during instant review to save the image in RAW format.

What to do if the camera does not turn on?

Check that the battery is charged and correctly inserted. Make sure the memory card door is securely closed. If the problem persists, try a new battery or contact PENTAX after-sales service.

How to reset to factory settings?

In the Preferences 3 menu, select Reset. You can choose to reset all settings or only some. Confirm with the OK button.
