How to change the battery?
Turn off the camera. Open the battery compartment cover by sliding the latch. If using the D-LI109 lithium-ion battery, insert it respecting polarity. To use AA batteries, first insert the batteries into the optional D-BH109 holder, then insert the holder into the compartment. Close the cover.
How to adjust focus?
Set the focus mode selector to AF (autofocus). Press the shutter button halfway: the camera focuses. The focus indicator in the viewfinder lights up when sharpness is achieved. You can also choose AF.S (single), AF.C (continuous), or MF (manual) depending on the subject.
How to clean the lens and sensor?
For the lens, use a soft brush or microfiber cloth. Never use solvents. For the CMOS sensor, the camera has an automatic cleaning system (vibration). You can also use a blower. For deep cleaning, contact an authorized PENTAX service center.
How to format an SD memory card?
Insert the card into the camera. Press the MENU button, go to the [Preferences] tab, select [Format] then [SD memory card]. Confirm with OK. Caution: formatting erases all data. It is recommended to format new cards or those used on other devices.
How to use scene modes (SCN)?
Turn the mode dial to SCN. Press the MENU button, choose a scene mode from the list (Portrait, Landscape, Macro, Sport, etc.). The camera optimizes settings for the situation. You can also access scene modes via the parameter setting screen.
How to connect the camera to a computer?
Use the provided I-USB7 USB cable. Connect it to the camera's PC/VIDEO terminal and to a USB port on the computer. Turn on the camera. By default, the USB connection mode is set to MSC (card reader). You can transfer images. To install the software, insert the provided CD-ROM and follow the instructions.
How to play and edit videos?
In playback mode, select a video using the dials. Press OK to start playback. You can pause, fast forward, rewind. To edit, press MENU in playback mode, go to [Video Edit] to cut the beginning or end. Videos are recorded in H.264 format.
How to set the date and time?
Go to the [Preferences] menu > [Date setting]. Use the navigation keys to choose the date format (dd/mm/yy, mm/dd/yy, or yy/mm/dd) and time format (24h/12h). Then set the month, day, year, hour, and minutes. Press OK to confirm. The seconds value resets to zero.
How to activate stabilization (Shake Reduction)?
Stabilization is active by default when the camera is on. You can disable it in the [Capture Mode] menu > [Shake Reduction]. For videos, a specific mode (Movie SR) is available in the video menu. Stabilization corrects camera shake, especially when shooting handheld or in low light.
