What types of lenses are compatible with the Pentax K-50?

The Pentax K-50 accepts lenses from the DA, DA L, D FA, FA J series as well as lenses with an A position on the aperture ring. Some functions may be limited with other lenses.

How many photos can be taken with a fully charged battery?

With the lithium-ion battery D-LI109, the number of recordable images is approximately 480 without flash and 410 with 50% flash usage (CIPA standard).

How to use the built-in flash of the K-50?

Press the flash pop-up button to raise it. You can choose from several modes: auto, red-eye reduction, slow sync, rear-curtain sync, etc. The flash settings are adjusted via the navigation button or the menu.

Can AA batteries be used in the Pentax K-50?

Yes, with the optional AA battery holder D-BH109. You can use four AA batteries (lithium, rechargeable Ni-MH or alkaline). Before use, set the battery type in the Preferences 3 menu.

How to perform manual focus?

Set the focus mode selector to MF. Then turn the focus ring of the lens while monitoring the image in the viewfinder or on the Live View screen. The camera confirms focus with an indicator light.

Does the Pentax K-50 have image stabilization?

Yes, it has the Shake Reduction system (sensor shift) that compensates for vibrations. For video, Movie SR is available. You can enable or disable stabilization via the menu.

What photo file formats are available?

The K-50 offers JPEG (with three quality levels: ★★★, ★★, ★) and RAW in DNG format. You can also save in RAW+JPEG simultaneously.

How to clean the CMOS sensor?

The camera has a vibration cleaning system for the sensor accessible via the menu. For deep cleaning, use a blower or send the camera to a PENTAX service center (fee-based service).

Is remote release possible?

Yes, you can use an optional remote control (such as the PENTAX Remote Control). The receiver is located on the front of the camera. The release mode must be set to Self-timer (2s) or Remote.

How to transfer photos to a computer?

Connect the camera to the computer via the supplied USB cable (in MSC or PTP mode as needed). You can also remove the SD memory card and use a card reader. The SILKYPIX Developer Studio software is provided on CD-ROM for RAW development.
