Frequently Asked Questions - K50 PENTAX

How to charge the D-LI109 battery?
Use the supplied D-BC109 charger. Connect the power cord, insert the battery into the charger with the ▲ mark facing up. The indicator lights up during charging and turns off when the battery is fully charged (approximately 240 minutes).
What type of lens can I use with the K-50?
You can use DA, DA L, D FA, FA J lenses and lenses with an A position on the aperture ring. For other lenses, some functions may be limited (see pages 59 and 290 of the manual).
How to insert an SD memory card?
Make sure the camera is turned off. Open the card slot cover, insert the card with the label facing the screen until it clicks, then close the cover. To remove, press the card once.
What to do if the camera does not turn on?
Check that the battery is charged and properly inserted, and that the memory card slot cover is closed (the camera will not turn on if it is open). If the problem persists, contact a PENTAX repair center.
How to use the built-in flash?
Press the flash pop-up button (▼) to raise it. You can set the flash mode using direct buttons or the menu. Available modes include auto, forced, red-eye reduction, slow sync, etc.
Can I use AA batteries with this camera?
Yes, with the optional D-BH109 AA battery tray. Use four lithium AA, rechargeable Ni-MH, or alkaline AA batteries. Set the battery type in the menu [Preferences 3] > [AA Battery Type] before use.
How to clean the CMOS sensor?
The camera has a dust removal system. For thorough cleaning, use the [Sensor Cleaning] function in the menu. If dirt persists, contact a PENTAX repair center for professional cleaning (fee charged). Do not use aerosol.
What is the battery life?
With a fully charged D-LI109 battery, you can take approximately 480 shots under normal conditions (at 23°C) according to CIPA standards. With AA lithium batteries, up to 1250 shots. Results vary depending on usage.
How to transfer photos to a computer?
Use the supplied USB cable (I-USB7). Set the USB connection mode in the [Preferences] menu to [MSC] or [PTP]. Connect the camera to the computer; it will be recognized as a storage device. You can also use a card reader.
What to do in case of an error message on the screen?
Refer to the [Error Messages] section of the manual (page 302). Common solutions include formatting the memory card, replacing the battery, or removing and reinserting the card. If the problem persists, contact customer service.
