Frequently Asked Questions - K50 PENTAX

How do I charge the battery of my PENTAX K-50?

Use the supplied D-BC109 charger. Plug in the power cord, insert the D-LI109 battery with the mark facing up. The indicator lights up during charging and turns off when complete (approx. 240 minutes).

What types of memory cards can I use?

The camera accepts SD, SDHC and SDXC cards, including Eye-Fi cards. For video, use a high-speed card.

How do I format an SD memory card?

Go to the menu Preferences → Format SD memory card. Confirm the operation. All data will be erased.

Can I use AA batteries in the K-50?

Yes, with the optional D-BH109 battery holder. Use four AA lithium, rechargeable Ni-MH, or alkaline batteries. Set the battery type in the menu Preferences 3.

How do I activate the built-in flash?

Press the flash pop-up button (button with lightning icon). Raise the flash manually. In AUTO mode, it may fire automatically.

Which lenses are compatible?

PENTAX DA, DA L, D FA, FA J lenses and those with an A (auto) position on the aperture ring are compatible. Older lenses may have limited functions.

How do I adjust manual focus?

Set the focus mode selector to MF. Turn the lens focus ring while looking through the viewfinder or Live View screen. Use the OK button to magnify the image if needed.

How do I transfer my photos to a computer?

Connect the camera via the supplied USB cable. Set the USB connection mode to MSC or PTP in the Preferences menu. The computer will detect the camera as an external drive.

How do I clean the CMOS sensor?

The camera has a vibration cleaning system (Preferences menu). For deep cleaning, contact an authorized PENTAX service center. Never use spray or solvent.

How do I adjust the viewfinder diopter correction?

Remove the eyecup, look through the viewfinder, and slide the diopter adjustment lever left or right until the AF frame is sharp. Replace the eyecup.
