What type of fuel should I use for my TWIST N EDGE brushcutter?

Use a mixture of unleaded petrol (octane 89 or higher) and 2-stroke engine oil in a ratio of 50:1. Mix thoroughly in a can before refueling.

How to cold start the device?

Set the switch to 'I', press the primer bulb 5 to 7 times, pull the recoil starter until a first click, then pull firmly. If the engine coughs, push the choke and repeat.

How to replace the nylon line in the cutting head?

Turn off the engine. Remove the cutting head, disassemble the cover, wind the new line (2.4 mm diameter) in the indicated direction, reassemble the cover and head.

Why does my engine stall while running?

First check the fuel level and the condition of the air filter. A dirty filter or empty tank are the most common causes. Also drain the tank if the petrol is old.

What safety equipment is recommended?

Always wear safety goggles, gloves, long trousers, and closed shoes. Use hearing protection if the noise level exceeds 85 dB(A).

How to clean the brushcutter after use?

Let the engine cool down. Brush off grass and soil debris from the housing and cutting head. Do not use water to prevent infiltration into the engine.

Can I use a blade instead of line?

Yes, the brushcutter accepts an optional metal blade (25-30 cm). Make sure to use the appropriate blade guard and follow the installation instructions.

How to store the device for winter?

Empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the tool, oil the cables, and store it in a dry, frost-free place.

What is the replacement frequency of the air filter?

Inspect the filter every 10 hours of use. Clean it with soapy water if dirty. Replace it every 50 hours or if damaged.

OPERATOR SAFETY

S Always wear safety eye protection.
Always wear long pants, long sleeves, boots, and gloves. Wearing safety leg guards is recommended. Don't gobarefoot or wear sandals. Stay clear of spinning line.
$ Secure hair above shoulder length. Secure or remove loose clothing of clothing

with loosely hanging ties, straps, tassels, etc. They can be caught in moving parts.

FUEL SAFETY

S Mix and pour fuel outdoors.
$ Keep away from sparks or flames.
$ Use a container approved for fuel.
S Donot smoke or allows smoking near fuel on the unit.

S Move at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from fueling site before starting engine.
$ Stop engine and allow to cool before removing fuel cap.

CUTTING SAFETY

S Use only for trimming, mowing, edging and sweeping. Donotuse for pruning or hedge trimming.
Inspect the area before each use. Remove objects (rocks, broken glass, nails, wire, etc.) which can be thrown by line or become entangled. Hard objects can damage trimmerhead and bthrow causing serious injury.

TRANSPORTING AND STORAGE

S Allowthe engine to cool; secure unit before storing or transporting in vehicle.

$ Empty the fuel tank before storing or transporting the unit. Use up fuel left in the carburetor by starting the engine and letting it run until it stops.
$ Store unit and fuel in an area where fuel vapors cannot reach sparks or open flames from water heaters, electric motors or switches, furnaces, etc.
S Store unit soline limiter cannot accidentally cause injury. Unit can be hung by the tube.
$ Store the unit out of the reach of children

ASSEMBLY

WARNING: Makesure unitis properly as-sembled and all fasteners are secure.

ATTACHING THE HANDLE

$ Assemble handle to the unit as shown; makesurebottomofhandleis seated inthe groove in the trigger housing.

NOTE: Adjustment knob must be assembled on the side of the unit opposite the operator's position.
$ Pivot handle to a comfortable position. Tighten handle securely.

ATTACHING THE SHIELD

WARNING: The shield helps to protect the operator and others from thrown objects, and is equipped with a line limiter blade which cuts excess line. This blade (on underside of shield) is sharp and can cut you.

$ Remove wing nut from shield.
$ Insert bracket into slot as shown.
S Pivot shield until bolt passes through hole in bracket.
$ Securely tighten wing nut onto bolt.

FUEL YOUR UNIT

This engine is certified to operate on unleaded gasoline. Gasoline must be mixed with a good quality 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil designed to be mixed at a ratio of 40:1. Poulan/Weed Eater brand oil is recommended. (A 40:1 ratio is obtained by mixing 3.2 ounces of oil with 1 gallon of unleaded gasoline). When mixing fuel follows the instructions printed on the container. Always read and follow the safety rules under FUEL SAFETY.

Starting Position

HOW TO STOP YOUR UNIT

Push and hold engine stop switch in the STOP or OFF position until the unit has fully stopped.

WARNING: The trimmer head will turn while starting the engine. A hot muffler can cause serious burns.

COLD ENGINE STARTING OR STARTING AFTER REFUELING

$ Set unit on a flat surface.
$ Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
S Move choke lever to FULL CHOKE position.
S Squeeze the throttle trigger fully and hold through all remaining steps.
$ Pull starter rope handle sharply 6 times.
S Move choke lever to HALF CHÖKE position.
S Pull starter rope handle no more than 6 pulls, until engine runs.
S Allowengine torun 10 seconds, then move choke lever to OFF CHoke position.

RESTARTING A WARM ENGINE

$ Movechokelever toOFF CHOKEposition.
$ Pull starter rope handle until engine runs.
$ If engine does not start in 5 pulls, follow instructions in STARTING A COLD ENGINE.

ADVANCING THE CUTTING LINE

Advance line by tapping the bottom of the cutting head lightly on the ground while engine is running at full speed. Ametal blade attached to the shield will cut the line to the proper length.

TWIST-N-EDGE

$ Pull the tab toward the engine.
S Twist the tube to the edging position; release the tab.

REPLACING THE LINE

S Remove spool by firmly pulling on tapbutton.
S Clean entire surface of hub and spool.
S Replace with a pre-wound spool, or cut a length of 20 feet of .080" (2 mm) diameter Weed Eaterr brand line. Never use wire, rope, string, etc., which can break off and become a dangerous missile.
$ Insert one end of the line about 1/2 inch (1 cm) into the small hole on the inside of spool.

S Wind the line evenly and tightly onto the spool. Wind in the direction of the arrow found on the spool.
S Push the line into the notch, leaving 3 to 5 inches (7 - 12 cm) unwound.
S Insert the line into the the exit hole in the hub as shown in the illustration.
S Align the notch with the line exit hole.
$ Pushspoolintohubuntilitsnaps into place.
$ Pull the line extending outside of the hub to release it from the notch.

CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENTS

Your carburetor is equipped with limiter caps. Carburetor adjustment is a complicated task. We recommend that you take your unit to an Authorized Service Dealer. Damage will occur if you turn the needles beyond the limiter stops.

IGNITION TIMING

The ignition timing is fixed, non-adjustable.

SPARK PLUG

Replace the spark plug yearly using a Champion RCJ-8Y plug. Spark plug gap is .025".

TROUBLESHOOTING

Engine will not start.
