Frequently Asked Questions - PL200 WEED EATER

How to start the PL200 string trimmer?
Make sure the tank contains fresh mixture. Press the primer bulb 5-6 times. Set the choke to 'Closed' (or 'Choke'). Pull the starter cord gently until resistance is felt, then pull firmly. Once the engine starts, push the choke to 'Open'.
What gasoline/oil mixture to use?
Use a 40:1 mixture (40 parts gasoline to 1 part oil) with a special 2-stroke engine oil. Respect this ratio to avoid damage.
How to replace the cutting line?
Turn off the engine. Remove the cutting head by turning it counterclockwise. Replace the line with a nylon line of diameter 2.0 mm. Reinstall the head by aligning the notches.
What to do if the engine does not start?
Check the gasoline/oil mixture, the condition of the spark plug (clean or replace), the air filter (clean it), and make sure the choke is used correctly. If nothing works, consult an authorized repairer.
How to clean the air filter?
Unscrew the filter cover, remove the foam element. Wash it with soapy water, dry it, then lightly saturate it with engine oil. Put it back and screw the cover.
What is the break-in period?
For the first 4 to 6 tanks of fuel, avoid running the engine at full load continuously. Alternate speeds to properly break in the engine.
How to store the unit in winter?
Empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the unit, remove the spark plug and pour a teaspoon of oil into the cylinder, then replace the spark plug. Store it in a dry place protected from frost.
The cutting head does not turn, what to do?
Check that the line spool is not stuck or the line is too long. Disassemble the head, clean it and reassemble correctly. If the problem persists, replace the cutting head.
Where to find spare parts?
Spare parts (cutting head, line, spark plug, filter) are available at authorized Weed Eater dealers or on the website www.weedeater.com. Use the model number PL200 to order.
How to adjust the carburetor?
Carburetor adjustment requires a special tool (screwdriver D). Turn the idle screw (T) to adjust idling. For the mixture, turn screws L and H in 1/8 turn increments. Refer to the manual for precise adjustments.
