What is the maximum load supported by the wall mount?

The mount is designed for a 65-inch (163.9 cm) or 55-inch (138.8 cm) TV. The wall must support at least four times the weight of the TV. The WM1 mount weighs 5.1 kg and the WM5 0.5 kg.

Can I install the wall mount myself?

It is strongly recommended to have the installation done by a certified professional installer. Improper mounting can cause the TV to fall and result in serious injury.

What types of walls are compatible with the SU-WL900 mount?

The mount can be attached to wood, drywall with studs, solid concrete or concrete block. The maximum thickness of drywall is 16 mm and solid concrete must be at least 203 mm thick.

What screws should be used to attach the mount to the wall?

Use four screws with a diameter of 8 mm (or equivalent) with washers, suitable for the wall material. Screws are not supplied. For wood, 8 mm × 60 mm screws are recommended.

How to prepare for the TV installation?

Check the installation position, keep the instruction manual and TV guide at hand, then prepare the tools: drill, 5.5 mm drill bit for studs or 10 mm for concrete, spirit level and 1.5 N·m torque wrench.

Does the wall mount allow the TV to swivel?

Yes, the mount arm can be pulled out and the TV can swivel. The WM3 piece must be attached to the part of the TV that comes into contact with the wall when swiveling, and it should not be placed on labels, ventilation openings or the speaker.

Can I move the TV after it has been mounted on the wall?

Do not remove the screws or move the TV alone. Moving it should be done by certified installers and requires two or more people (three for TVs 75 inches and larger).

What are the risks associated with the magnets on this mount?

The mount and its accessories contain magnets. They can interfere with pacemakers or other medical devices and present a choking hazard if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and consult a doctor if ingested.

Why can't the TV be flush against the wall?

Depending on the type and number of connected cables, the TV may remain slightly away from the wall. This is not a malfunction, but care should be taken to ensure that the cables are neither twisted nor pinched.

When should you call a professional to remove the mount?

The TV should be removed by reversing the installation procedure. It is recommended to use a professional installer to avoid any risk of falling and injury.

Installing the TV to the Wall

Using the optional Wall-Mount Bracket (SU-WL850 or SU-WL450)*1 (not supplied) To Customers:

For product protection and safety reasons, Sony strongly recommends that installation of your TV be performed by Sony dealers or licensed contractors. Do not attempt to install it yourself.

Provide full attention to safety during the installation, periodic maintenance and examination of this product.

- Be sure to use the screws supplied with the Wall-Mount Bracket when attaching the Wall-Mount Bracket to the TV set. The supplied screws are designed as indicated by illustration when measured from the attaching surface of the Wall-Mount Bracket. The diameter and length of the screws differ depending on the Wall-Mount Bracket model.

Use of screws other than those supplied may result in internal damage to the TV set or cause it to fall, etc.

- Be sure to store the unused screws and Table-Top Stand in a safe place until you are ready to attach the Table-Top Stand. Keep the screws away from children.

Troubleshooting

General troubleshooting for issues like: black screen, no sound, frozen picture, TV does not respond, or network is lost, do the following steps.

1 Restart your TV by pressing the power button on the remote control for about five seconds. The TV will restart. If the TV does not recover, try unplugging the AC power cord (mains lead) then press the power button on the TV and release it. Wait for two minutes, and plug in the AC power cord (mains lead).

Or, press the power button on the TV for about 40 seconds until the TV turns off.

2 Refer to the Help menu shown below.

3 Connect your TV to the Internet and perform a software update. Sony recommends you to keep your TV software updated. Software updates provide new features and performance improvements.

4 Visit Sony support website (information provided at the end of the supplied safety documentation).

When you plug in the TV, the TV may not be able to turn on for a while even if you press the power button on the remote control or the TV.

It takes time to initialize the system. Wait for about one minute, then operate it again.

The remote control does not function.

- Replace the batteries.

The parental lock password has been forgotten.

- Enter 9999 for the PIN and enter the new PIN.

The screen becomes darker while watching TV.

- If the whole image or part of the image remains still, the screen brightness will be gradually reduced to prevent image retention. This is not a malfunction of the TV.

You are concerned about image retention.

If the same image is displayed repeatedly or for long periods of time, image retention may occur. To reduce image retention, we recommend that you turn off the TV normally by pressing the power button on the remote control or the TV.

Note

- Images that include logos and bright colours (including white) easily cause image retention. Avoid displaying these types of images for long periods of time, otherwise image retention may occur.

The message [Panel refresh did not finish...] is displayed.

- When i) the TV is turned on, ii) the AC power cord (mains lead) is unplugged, or iii) the room temperature falls outside of the range between 10°C and 40°C during the Panel refresh, the Panel refresh is not completed. Please avoid the above three conditions during the Panel refresh.

For more information, refer to the Help Guide. Press ↗ (Quick Settings) on the remote control and select [Help]. If [Help] does not exist, select [Edit] and add [Help].
