Frequently Asked Questions - R30 R40 SEAC

How do I install the battery correctly?
Open the aluminum cap at the end of the handle and remove the plastic charging ring. Insert the Li-ion battery with the positive pole (+) facing into the torch. Apply silicone grease to the O-rings, then screw the charging ring and aluminum cap back on clockwise. Always respect the polarity markings to avoid short circuits.
How do I recharge my SEAC torch?
Unscrew the end cap, connect a micro-USB cable to the torch port, and plug the other end into a 5V 1-2A adapter. The red LED near the port indicates charging; when it turns green, the battery is fully charged. Unplug the mains side first, then the torch. Avoid leaving it charging for more than a few hours after full charge.
Can I adjust the beam width?
Yes, the torch allows adjusting the light cone from 12° to 75° by rotating the torch head while holding the handle. Turn the head with the rubber ring in the desired direction to widen or narrow the beam.
How does the safety lock work?
The torch has a safety ring nut just below the switch. Rotate it so the pointer aligns with the closed lock icon to lock the switch and prevent accidental activation. Rotate it the other way to align with the open lock icon to enable the switch.
What is the maximum diving depth?
The SEAC R30 and R40 have a maximum depth rating of 100 meters. Do not exceed this depth.
What battery type is used in the R30?
The R30 uses a rechargeable Li-ion 26650 battery with 3.7V and 5000mAh. Use only the same type of battery for replacement.
What battery type is used in the R40?
The R40 uses a rechargeable Li-ion 26800 battery with 3.7V and 5400mAh. Always replace with the identical type.
How long does the battery last on maximum power?
On Hi mode, the R30 delivers 1500 lumens with a burn time of 2 hours; the R40 delivers 2300 lumens for about 1.5 hours. On Low mode, the R30 lasts about 5 hours and the R40 about 4 hours.
Can I use the torch outside water?
It is recommended to use the torch exclusively underwater because high temperatures can occur when used out of water. If you use it on land, avoid prolonged operation and never point it at eyes.
How should I maintain the torch after diving?
After each dive, rinse the torch with fresh water and dry it. Inspect and grease the O-rings with silicone grease whenever you open the body. Avoid cleaning with chlorine-based products or solvents, and have the torch inspected annually by an authorized SEAC center.

SEAC R30 R40 - WARNING - 2

ADJUSTABLE LIGHT BEAM WIDTH

The torch has a system that allows users to adjust the angle of the light cone during use from 12° to 75° by turning the head.

Grasp the handle of the torch firmly with one hand, and with the other grip the head of the torch where the special rubber ring is located. Rotate one direction or another depending on whether you want the light beam to be broader or narrower.

WARNING

During this operation, be careful to grasp the base of the torch firmly and do not touch the end cap, because unscrewing this could cause the torch to flood.

WARNING

Strictly follow the polarity markings when inserting the battery!

INSERTING THE BATTERY

  • Unscrew the aluminum cap at the end of the handle, turning counterclockwise.
  • Remove the plastic charging ring, turning counter-clockwise.
  • Insert the battery, making sure that the positive pole (+) is pointing into the torch.
  • Grease the sealing O-rings with a layer of silicone grease.
  • Screw the plastic recharging ring nut back on clockwise, taking care not to damage the threading while doing so.
  • Screw the aluminum terminal at the end of the handle back on, turning clockwise.

WARNING

Failure to fully tighten this cap could result in water leaking into the torch during use.

- Check that the torch switches on using the switch.

SEAC R30 R40 - WARNING - 1

WARNING

If the battery is inserted incorrectly (inverted polarity), a short circuit will be created, causing irreversible damage and a risk that the torch could explode.

SWITCH

The torch has a sliding magnetic switch with three positions: 100% light output, low power setting (30% of maximum power), and flashing.

ENGAGING OR DISENGAGING THE SAFETY

The torch features an exclusive and effective safety system, designed to prevent the torch from switching on accidentally. To insert the safety, rotate the circular ring nut right below the switch as far as it can go. The pointer engraved into the ring nut will line up with the closed lock icon. The switch will be locked. To disengage the safety, simply turn the ring nut the other way until the pointer lines up with the open lock icon. In the position the switch is not secured and is operative.

SEAC R30 R40 - ENGAGING OR DISENGAGING THE SAFETY - 1

PRE-DIVE INSPECTION

  • If your torch has not been used recently, check the condition of the batteries by ensuring that it switches on.
  • Check that the body is fully closed.
  • As soon as you enter the water, check that no bubbles emerge from the body of the torch.

RECHARGING THE BATTERY

WARNING

Pay the utmost attention to ensuring that there are no flammable objects or products near the torch while it is charging.

  • Unscrew the end cap counter-clockwise (where the strap attaches).
  • Insert the micro-USB cable connector to the port on the torch and connect the other end to a 5 Volt, 1 - 2 Amp power adapter. The red LED near the micro-USB housing on the end of the torch will light up immediately. This indicates that the battery is charging. When the LED turns green, it means that the battery is fully charged. Unplug the connector plugged to the power adapter or computer USB port first, and then unplug the micro-USB connector from the torch.

WARNING

Avoid leaving the torch connected to the power once it is charged, and in any event not longer than a few hours. Failure to do so could cause damage to the product and pose a danger to people and/or things.

FLOODING

If water gets into the torch, open the body, remove the battery, and immediately rinse the internal parts in fresh water. Then dry everything with a cloth and a hair dryer using warm air, paying close attention to mechanical parts. Remove any oxide that may have formed on the metal parts and conduct an operations test.

If a significant quantity of water has entered the torch and has remained there for a long period, open the torch body and immediately rinse the internal parts in fresh water. We suggest that you immediately contact a competent repair center or contact the closest SEAC shop.

USAGE RESTRICTIONS

  • The maximum operating depth is 200 m.
  • Because of the high temperatures that can arise in the torch when used out of the water, we recommend that you use it exclusively underwater.

MAINTENANCE AND TRANSPORT

It is important to abide by the following instructions:

  • Always transport the torch in a bag that will protect it from any blows.
  • When you aren't using the torch, always make sure you have fully inserted the safety in order to prevent the torch from switching on accidentally, which could cause fires. For extended transport in the trunk or hold, it's good practice to always remove the batteries from the torch. This provision may be mandatory with certain airlines.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
  • After a dive (sea, lake, or pool), always rinse with fresh water and dry.
  • Check the condition of the gaskets (O-rings) every time you open the body of the torch.
  • Clean and grease the parts involved in opening the torch with silicone grease.
  • Avoid cleaning the torch with products containing chlorine (sodium hypochlorite/bleach, etc.), aggressive surfactants (such as degreasers), or solvents to avoid damaging the rust protectant anodic treatment, the plastic parts, and the sealing gaskets.
  • It is advisable to have your product inspected annually by an authorised SEAC center.
