Frequently Asked Questions - KB-A 30 PEAVEY

What is the total power of the PEAVEY KB/A 30?
The KB/A 30 amp delivers 50 watts in total: 40 watts RMS for the woofer (at 8 ohms) and 10 watts RMS for the tweeter (at 8 ohms). This bi-amplified configuration ensures faithful reproduction across the entire frequency range.
How many input channels does the KB/A 30 have?
It has 4 channels. Channels 1, 2, and 3 are accessible on the front, while channel 4 (monitor input) is located on the rear panel. Each front channel has its own independent 2-band EQ.
Can a microphone be directly connected to the KB/A 30?
Yes. Channel 1 accepts microphones thanks to its combo XLR input (XLR or 6.35 mm jack). It is optimized for mic or line signals and has a 2-band EQ to adjust the sound.
How do you connect an acoustic guitar to the KB/A 30?
Use channel 2, which is specifically designed for line or acoustic inputs. It has a gain switch to better handle piezo or magnetic pickups from acoustic guitars, in addition to its 2-band EQ.
Is there a headphone output on the KB/A 30?
Yes, a stereo 6.35 mm jack headphone output is directly accessible on the front. It allows you to practice silently without disturbing others, which is convenient for late-night rehearsals.
How do you send the KB/A 30 signal to a mixing console?
The KB/A 30 is equipped with a balanced XLR output on the rear panel, ideal for connecting the amp to a console. The 1/4" effects send jack can also function as a direct output to a PA system.
How does the channel equalization work?
Each front channel has a 2-band shelving EQ: +/-15 dB at 80 Hz for bass and +/-15 dB at 10 kHz for treble. This allows you to independently adapt the tone of each connected instrument.
What speakers are equipped in the KB/A 30?
The amp uses a 2-way coaxial system: a 25.4 cm (10-inch) woofer paired with a 2.5 cm (1-inch) ferrofluid compression tweeter. This coaxial configuration ensures consistent and homogeneous full-range diffusion.
What is the frequency response of the KB/A 30?
The frequency response covers 20 Hz to 20 kHz (+0 / -3 dB), encompassing the entire audible spectrum. This makes it suitable for keyboards, synthesizers, digital pianos, and amplified acoustic guitars.
Can the KB/A 30 be used as a stage monitor?
Yes. Channel 4, located on the rear panel, is specifically designed as a monitor input. Connect your console's output to use the amp as a stage monitor wedge.
What is the weight of the KB/A 30 and is it easy to transport?
The amp weighs 15.6 kg (34.3 lbs). With dimensions of approximately 38 cm x 28 cm x 43 cm, it remains compact for a 50-watt amp with a coaxial system, easily transportable between studio and stage.
The volume is very low on channel 2 with my acoustic guitar, what should I do?
First, check the position of the gain switch on channel 2: it must be suited to your pickup level (piezo or magnetic). If the problem persists, clean the jacks and test another cable. An unsuitable gain setting is the most common cause of insufficient signal on this input.

What cable should I use to connect a digital piano to the PEAVEY KB-A 30 amplifier?
Frequently Asked Questions - 02/02/2026
Response Notice-Facile

To connect your digital piano to the PEAVEY KB-A 30 amplifier, you need to use a 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) jack cable that connects the audio outputs of your keyboard to the inputs of the amplifier. The KB-A 30 has two jack inputs particularly suited for keyboards and digital pianos: channel 2 (line/acoustic input) and channel 3 (instrument/line input). These two channels accept a very wide dynamic range, meaning they handle both the powerful signals from synthesizer keyboards and the lower levels from practice or entry-level digital pianos.

Before connecting your piano, first check the type of audio output available on your instrument. If your piano has 6.35 mm stereo or mono jack outputs, a simple jack cable will suffice. If your piano only has 3.5 mm mini-jack outputs, you will need to use a mini-jack to 6.35 mm jack adapter. For optimal sound quality, prefer a TRS (stereo) cable if your piano offers a stereo output, which will allow you to fully enjoy the bi-amplified system and the two speakers of the KB-A 30.

For the connection, plug the appropriate end of the cable into the audio output of your digital piano, then connect the other end to one of the two jack inputs of the amplifier (channel 2 or channel 3, both located on the front). Channel 2 has a 12 dB gain switch that will be useful if your piano emits a weak signal. Once connected, turn on the amplifier, gradually adjust the volume of the chosen channel and the output of the piano to avoid distortion or clipping.

For the best results with your digital piano, always use good quality audio cables that minimize unwanted noise. Each channel of the KB-A 30 also offers a 2-band equalization (bass and treble, +/-15 dB) to adjust the sound according to your preferences and environment. If your piano has a headphone output, it is a good indicator that it also has a quality line output that you can easily connect to the amplifier.

KB/A™ 30 Full-Range Biamped Combo

When you've got to have it all in a portable, high-powered, full-range amplifier — the KB/A™ 30 is it! This amp provides the perfect combination of size, power and features, and is the latest edition to Peavey's popular KB/A™ line of amplifiers.

MOBILITY

The KB/A 30 is compact enough to fit in the tightest locations and weighs only 34.3 pounds.

FULL RANGE SOUND

The KB/A 30 offers a special two-way coax speaker system featuring a 10" woofer with a 1" ferro fluid compression tweeter for exceptional full-range output. The coax design provides the advantages of a point source system, therefore when you move your head, the center point doesn't change. The dome tweeter provides a clean extended response that is extremely smooth.

The KB/A 30 cabinet, borrowed from our bass division, offers an isolated, sealed enclosure which provides optimum bass response.

BIAMPLIFICATION EXPONENTIALLY INCREASES OUTPUT

Unlike any other combo in its class, the KB/A 30 is biamped, which provides dedicated power amps to both the woofer and tweeter. Biamping greatly increases the sound output as the amplifiers work much more efficiently. The signal passes through a specially-designed electronic crossover which feeds the two amplifiers. A 40-watt amp powers the woofer, and a dedicated 10-watt amp powers the tweeter. Biamping greatly increases the available headroom and enables the KB/A 30 sound output to go beyond what you would expect.

FOUR INPUTS

Channel one is optimized for mic or line input (XLR combo input) and features two-band EQ. Channel two is optimized for line or acoustic inputs and features a gain switch to better handle acoustic inputs in addition to the two-band EQ. Channel three is a dedicated line/instrument input and features two-band EQ. A fourth channel is located on the rear panel and offers a monitor input. This signal passes only to the amp and is not part of the line output signal. This is handy for click tracks or other monitoring. You could even have the console monitor signal fed to the amp through this input giving the KB/A 30 a dual function. An effects insert (send/return) is also provided for adding your favorite EFX device to the master signal. The variety of inputs provided on the KB/A 30 make it a versatile power packed system.

OUTPUTS

The KB/A 30 offers an XLR balanced line output in addition to a 1/4'' effects send jack that can function as a direct output. Also, the all-important headphone output is placed on the front for easy access. When the headphone is used, the amplifier signal is automatically muted.

This amp provides the perfect combination of size, power, and features. With excellent sound, roadworthy design, and unmatched reliability, the KB/A 30 is the amplification choice for your keyboard, acoustic guitar, and vocal applications.

And don't forget ... with every KB/A series amplifier, you get Peavey's excellent warranty and the best in support from its award-winning service department.

17 LINE OUT

Balanced XLR output can be used to route signals to a mixing console, tape recorded, etc.

18.EFFECTS PATCH

A stereo out/in jack allows the use of various auxiliary units (chorus, flanging, tape/digital/analog delays, equalizers, etc.) in line before the power amp section. To utilize this system, a stereo plug (tip/ring/sleeve) to a "Y" cord must be used. The tip portion of the 1/4 stereo jack serves as the signal send (output) while the ring portion will return the processed signal to the system. The sleeve portion serves as the ground.

Since this is a stereo jack configuration, the first click on the jack may be used as a pre power amp output with a mono 1/4" plug if desired. This first click will not disturb the signal flow to the remainder of the system as it is fed into the power amp section. NOTE: If the second click of the out/in jack is utilized without returning any signal to the system from an effects device the power amp will be disabled.

CHANNEL FOUR

19.MONITOR LEVEL
