WARNING: When using electrical products, basic cautions should always be followed, including the following:

  1. Read these instructions.

  6. Clean only with a dry cloth.
  7. Do not block any of the ventilation openings. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
  8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding plug. The wide blade or third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
  10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point they exit from the apparatus.
  11. Note for UK only: If the colors of the wires in the mains lead of this unit do not correspond with the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:

a) The wire that is colored green and yellow must be connected to the terminal that is marked by the letter E, the earth symbol, colored green or colored green and yellow.
b) The wire that is colored blue must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter N or the color black.
c) The wire that is colored brown must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter L or the color red.

  1. Only use attachments/accessories provided by the manufacturer.

Thanks for purchasing the Ecoustic 110/112 amplifier from Peavey. Whether you play an acoustic guitar, oud, violin or zither, you've just found your amplifier. The Ecoustic 110 and 112 will accurately reproduce those delicate tones and individual nuances of your instrument with amazing results. Vocals sound great too! Those crazy Peavey engineers have crammed so much tone and so many features into these amps that there wasn't room for anything else.

The Ecoustic uses special buffers, EQ and feedback controls to capture the texture of acoustic sound. Built-in 24-bit effects and an amazing congregation of other features make the Ecoustic 110/112 one of the most versatile acoustic amplifiers on the market.

Did we mention power? The Ecoustic 112 comes equipped with a 12" Blue Marvel® coaxial speaker and a high-definition dome tweeter. Bi-amped, with a 100 watts dedicated to the lows and mids, and 25 watts for the highs, this amp will cut through in just about any volume situation. The 112's smaller sibling, the Ecoustic 110, is a very robust amp as well. Loaded with a 10" Blue Marvel coaxial speaker, a high-definition dome tweeter and the same great effects, this amp is a punchy, light-weight amp that has no rival. Power Switch (1 & 20)

This switch applies power to the unit in the ON position. Pressing the lower portion of the switch turns the power off.

Master Volume (2)

This control sets the overall volume level. Go ahead, turn it up and see what a 100 watts of clean power will do for your acoustic instrument.

Tweeter Level (3)

This control sets the volume level for the tweeter. Dial in just the right amount of highs for your application.

Auxiliary Channel Low (4)

This is an active, shelving type EQ for increasing the low end on the auxiliary input channel.

Auxiliary Channel High (5)

An active, shelving type EQ for dialing in the highs on the auxiliary input channel.

Input (6)

This 1/4 mono jack is designed to accommodate most any signal input. Gain can be adjusted by the Auxiliary Input Level (7).

Auxiliary Input Level (7)

This control sets the overall level of the auxiliary channel.

Microphone Channel REV/DLY (8 & 21)

The Ecoustic 112 and the Ecoustic 110 include separate effects for the Mic channel and the Instrument channel. These controls set the amount and mix of delay/reverb and when depressed, turns on and off the chorus for the Mic channel. See the Tweak Section of this manual for more information and hidden features.

PEAVEY ECOUSTIC 110 - Microphone Channel REV/DLY (8 & 21) - 1

As the knob is turned clockwise, the surrounding LED ring will light, indicating the amount and/or mix of reverb and delay. When turned fully counter-clockwise, the reverb/delay effects are off.

When the knob is pushed in, the Chorus LED will light, indicating the chorus effects are engaged.

Instrument Channel REV/DLY (9 & 22)

This control sets the amount and mix of delay/reverb effects for the Instrument channel. As the control is turned clockwise, the surrounding LED ring will light, indicating the amount and/or mix of reverb and delay. When turned fully counter-clockwise, the reverb/delay effects are off.

EFX Adjust (10 & 23)

Repeatedly depressing this control cycles through the available effects: Doubler, Phaser, Chorus and Rotary Speaker. The LED adjacent to each effect name will light indicating which effect is active. Rotating this same control will change various parameters for each effect. The surrounding LED ring will also illuminate indicating relative value of the parameter being adjusted. The effects and their corresponding parameters are listed on the next page.

To return to the factory effects settings, press and hold both the EFX ADJUST and REV/DLY controls while turning the amp on.

Select (Freq Out™ Anti-feedback) (11 & 24)

The built-in Freq Out anti-feedback system, armed with sophisticated algorithms, distinguishes between music and feedback, seeking and destroying the feedback, leaving your music alone. The Select switch is a 3-position control: Off, narrow and wide. If you experience feedback, press the Select switch once. If this eliminates the feedback, try pressing the Select switch (High Q setting) again which narrows the effected range of frequencies. If the feedback doesn't return, leave the switch in this position. If it does return, press Select twice more to return to the Low Q setting. The corresponding LED will light when activated.

Note: This setting is global. It will not change with a preset change.

Ecoustic 110: 4-band · Ecoustic 112: 5-band EQ (12, 16, 25 & 29)

The Instrument and Microphone channels on the Ecoustic 110 include a 4-band, active EQ. The Ecoustic 112 Instrument and Microphone channels include a 5-band, active EQ.

Level (13, 17, 26 & 30)

The Level control on both the Instrument and Microphone channels sets the volume level.

Low Z Input (14 & 28)

Use this input with low impedance microphones or high-level sources equipped with a male XLR connector.

High Z Input (15, 18, 27 & 31)

Use with high impedance microphones or high-level sources equipped with a 1/4 " phone plug.

Phase Reverse (19 & 32)

Reverses the phase of an instrument signal in order to reduce feedback or to correct out-of-phase conditions. This is especially useful when using both the Instrument and the Microphone input on a single instrument.

Ground Polarity Switch (33)

This 3-position, rocker-type switch should normally be operated in its center or zero position. If the unit is producing an audible hum and/or noise, position the Ground Polarity switch to either the positive or negative position (+ or -).

Note: If the noise or hum problem continues, consult your Authorized Peavey dealer, the Peavey Factory or a qualified service technician.

IEC connector/detachable line cord (34 & 40)

This is a standard IEC power connector. An AC mains cord having the appropriate AC plug and ratings for the intended operating voltage is included in the carton. The mains cord should be connected to the amplifier before connecting to a suitable AC outlet.

U.S. Domestic AC Mains Cord

The mains cord supplied with the unit is heavy-duty, 3-conductor type with a conventional 120 VAC plug with ground pin. Never break off the ground pin on any equipment. It is provided for your safety. If the outlet used does not have a ground pin, a suitable grounding adapter should be used and the third wire should be properly grounded.

Remote Switch Connector (35 & 41)

This 8-pin DIN connector is provided for connection of the Ecoustic PFC 3 footswitch (optional). The footswitch cable should be connected before the amp is powered up. See the Footswitch section of this manual for explanation of switch operation.

Note: Adding the optional footswitch allows the user to store 3 presets as well as remotely mute the amplifier.

Power Amp In (36 & 43)

This 1/4 " jack is used to connect a line-level signal source to the power amplifier.

Preamp Out (37 & 42)

This 1 / 4'' jacks allows patching to mixing consoles, tape recorders, etc. Use a shielded cable to patch from this jack to the input of the device receiving the signal. This patch does not affect the operation of the amplifier or the signal continuing to the power amp and speakers.

Note: A single button, shielded footswitch used in the preamp out jack can be used to mute the amplifier.

Line Out: Low Z (38)

An XLR jack is provided to route the balanced signal to mixing/recording consoles.

Pre/Post EQ Switch (39)

Selects either Instrument (Pre EQ) or both the Instrument and Microphone channel (Post EQ) signals and routes to the Line Out XLR jack (38).

Note: For proper ventilation, allow a minimum of 12" of clearance on all sides of the unit.

The optional Ecoustic PFC 3 footswitch offers tremendous, hands-free control over the effects built into the Ecoustic 112 & 110. A perfect addition for the those critical performances!

Mode Select (44) and Mode LED (45)

The PFC 3 footswitch (optional) operates in two modes: EFX Select mode and Preset Select mode. Pressing the Mode Switch (44) selects between the two modes. The active mode is indicated by the Mode LED (45). Illumination of the LED indicates EFX Select Mode; non-illumination indicates Preset Select Mode. Controls and indicators perform different functions relative to the active mode.

Preset Select Mode (44)

In this mode, all three switches control effects presets. Their corresponding LEDs indicate which preset is active. Once desired settings are achieved utilizing the effects controls on the front panel, double-click one of the Preset switches (46, 48 or 50) to store the settings. For a detailed explanation on creating and storing presets, refer to the Tweak Features section on the next page.

Note: When entering the EFX select mode, the current preset will remain active.

Preset 1 (46)

In this mode, Preset 1 (46) mutes and un-mutes the signal completely. The Mute LED (47) will illuminate when the signal is muted.

Preset 2 (48)

Preset 2 (48) toggles between two effects and their respective settings. This button may be used as an on/off switch if one of the settings has no effects active. To use the Modulation LED (49) as a status indicator, the OFF (or lower setting) should be made with the LED dark and the ON (higher setting) made with the LED illuminated.

Preset 3 (50)

Preset 3 (50) toggles between two reverb and delay settings. As with effects settings, this switch may be used as an on/off switch for reverb and delay. Both functions change simultaneously when this switch is depressed.

Ecoustic amplifiers offer hidden features to further adjust the parameters of the digital effects. In addition to the adjustments described in the EFX Adjust section of this manual, additional tweaks may be made to customize effects to user preferences. Tweaks are made by pressing and holding the EFX ADJUST (10 & 23) control while simultaneously rotating the REV/DLY (9 & 22)control.

Note: The EFX Adjust control must be pressed for at least one second to enter Tweak Mode. Reverb settings will not be affected while in Tweak Mode.

The surrounding LED ring will now reflect the value of the effect being tweaked. As in standard parameter changes, the effect being tweaked will be the active effect as indicated by the LED adjacent to the effect name.

Creating and Storing a Custom Preset

The following steps explain the creation and storage of two different effects/settings as well as two different settings for REV/DLY. The Doubler and Chorus effects were selected at random. These steps will accomplish custom presets using any of the available effects.

  1. Assure the footswitch is in the EFX Select Mode by pressing the Mode Select switch (44) if necessary. The Mode LED (45) will illuminate.
  2. Use Preset 1 (46) to select Mute or Un-mute. The Mute LED (47) will illuminate for Mute.
  3. Select the position of Preset 2 (48). The Modulation LED (49) may be illuminated or dark at the discretion of the user.
  4. Select Doubler and adjust the amount to preference using the EFX Adjust (10 & 23) control on the front panel of the Ecoustic (standard adjustment).
  5. Press and hold the EFX Adjust (10 & 23) control while adjusting the Doubler delay time to preference with the RVB/DLY (9 & 22) control on the front panel (Tweak mode).
  6. Press Preset 2 (48) to change to the other Modulation position. The Modulation LED (49) will illuminate or go dark depending on its status in step 5.
  7. Select Chorus and adjust rate to preference using the EFX Adjust 10 & 23) control on the front panel (standard adjustment).
  8. Press and hold the EFX Adjust (10 & 23) control while adjusting the Chorus wet/dry mix to preference with the RVB/DLY (9 & 22) control on the front panel (Tweak mode).
  9. Select the position of Preset 3 (50). The REV/DLY LED (51) may be illuminated or dark at the discretion of the user.
  10. Adjust Reverb/Delay to preference using the REV/DLY (9 & 22) control on the front panel.
  11. Press Preset 3 (50) to change to the other REV/DLY position. The REV/DLY LED (51) will illuminate or go dark depending on status in step 10.
  12. Adjust Reverb/Delay to preference using the REV/DLY (9 & 22) control.
  13. Set the position of Preset 1 (46), Preset 2 (48) and Preset 3 (50) to the settings preferred as defaults. (Default setting is the one that is active when the preset is selected.)
  14. Press the Mode Select (44) switch to return to the Preset Mode.
  15. Double-click Preset 1, 2 or 3 to store settings in that location.

Freq OutTM Setup

The Freq Out is probably the most unique feature added to the Ecoustic amplifiers. The Freq Out automatically eliminates feedback by using a set of precise, digital filters and sophisticated algorithms. By taking just a minute to properly set up the Freq Out, you can optimize this great feature of your new Ecoustic amplifier.

  1. Once you are set up and ready to play, set the level on the instrument channel and ensure the other channels are turned down. Then, turn the Ecoustic's gain and volume up to the desired level. Turn on the Freq Out by depressing the switch (11 or 24) once.
  2. Play various notes/chords on your instrument. Let the notes/chords ring out long enough to feed back. You should notice the Freq Out kick in with a corresponding reduction in feedback. Note: If you initially experience a tremendous amount of feedback, first, try reversing the phase switch, changing your playing position in relationship to the amp or reducing the overall volume level. The Freq Out utilizes 8 filters, 4 of which lock down after locating and eliminating feedback. The remaining 4 filters roam continuously searching to reduce feedback problems as they occur. It is very important that the first 4 filters lock down on actual feedback problems. If you feel they have locked down because of the position of your instrument or microphone you may have to reset the Freq Out. To do this, simply power down the Ecoustic amplifier and wait 10 seconds before turning the amp back on. Then, repeat the procedure below.
  3. Now, repeat the procedure with the microphone channel.

Note: If you initially experience a tremendous amount of feedback, first, try reversing the phase switch, changing your playing position in relationship to the amp or reducing the overall volume level. The Freq Out utilizes 8 filters, 4 of which lock down after locating and eliminating feedback. The remaining 4 filters roam continuously searching to reduce feedback problems as they occur. It is very important that the first 4 filters lock down on actual feedback problems. If you feel they have locked down because of the position of your instrument or microphone you may have to reset the Freq Out. To do this, simply power down the Ecoustic amplifier and wait 10 seconds before turning the amp back on. Then, repeat the procedure below.

What Peavey Will Do

We will repair or replace (at Peavey's discretion) products covered by warranty at no charge for labor or materials. If the product or component must be shipped to Peavey for warranty service, the consumer must pay initial shipping charges. If the repairs are covered by warranty, Peavey will pay the return shipping charges.

How To Get Warranty Service

(a) Take the defective item and your sales receipt or other proof of date of purchase to your Authorized Peavey Dealer or Authorized Peavey Service Center. OR
(2) Ship the defective item, prepaid, to Peavey Electronics Corporation, International Service Center, 412 Highway 11 & 80 East, Meridian, MS 39301 or Peavey Canada Ltd., 95 Shields Court, Markham, Ontario, Canada L3R 9T5. Include a detailed description of the problem, together with a copy of your sales receipt or other proof of date of purchase as evidence of warranty coverage. Also provide a complete return address.

Limitation of Implied Warranties

ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY, INCLUDING WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE LENGTH OF THIS WARRANTY.
