SUUNTO QR (QUICKRELEASE)

This SUUNTO QR (quick release) is a heavy duty connector for connecting SCUBA cylinder pressure gauge to regulator high pressure port. Connecting or disconnecting without the need for tools is enabled. The QR is installed between gauge and hose or between hose and regulator.

Though designed to withstand the rigors of scuba diving you must treat the QR with proper care and caution as any other diving equipment.

The SUUNTO QR has been tested and approved to be used in SCUBA equipment according to European standard EN 250.

WARNING!

Do not expose the QR to any gas mix containing more than 40% oxygen. Greater oxygen content presents a risk of fire or explosion and serious injury or death.

1.1. Installation

Suunto recommends that your QR is installed by an authorised dealer or distributor.

Disconnect the hose at the place where you want to install the QR. Install the QR ends to their respective places. The joint designs are identical to the ones without the QR. If the QR is installed at the gauge the swivel stem must be installed at the hose to QR joint. If the QR is installed at the regulator, one o-ring (9.25 × 1.78) must be installed on the QR before threading into HP port on regulator. When making the assembly check the condition of all the o-rings and replace if needed with supplied spare parts. Make sure all parts are clean before assembling.

If the QR is installed at the instrument end it may be necessary to open up the hose hole size in the console housing in order fit the QR connector.

1.2. Use of the QR

Connecting is made by pushing on and turning clockwise. Make sure the connector is locked by pulling hard and turning counterclockwise.

Disconnecting is made by pushing and turning counterclockwise and then pulling the connector off. Use the end plugs for protecting the open connector ends against dust or dents.

CAUTION!

Do not connect or disconnect the hose with the cylinder pressure present. Close cylinder

valve and purge system before connecting or disconnecting.

1.3. Service

Service your QR and hose assembly every two years or after 200 dives (whichever comes first) by an authorised dealer or distributor. This service will include a general operational check, replacement of worn parts, and pressure leak check. The service may require special tools and training. Therefore, it is advisable to contact an authorised SUUNTO dealer or distributor for biennial service. Do not attempt to do any service that you are not sure about how to do.

Under severe use the inside o-ring in the male connector may be damaged. It can quite easily be replaced with a spare o-ring (3.80x1.50 90shA). Pry out the old o-ring with a mini screwdriver. Push the new o-ring into its groove with a suitable small wooden stick. Do not damage the o-ring or the sealing surfaces!
