Important safety instructions
- Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.
- Before the appliance is used, the main body as well as any attachments fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. If the appliance, for instance, has been dropped onto a hard surface, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on its operational safety.
- The power cord should be regularly examined for any signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found, the appliance must no longer be used.
- Always place the unit on a level, heat-resistant work surface impervious to
splashes and stains and with sufficient surrounding space. Do not place it underneath any wall-cupboards or hanging objects, nor directly by a wall or in a corner.
- Ensure that no inflammable materials are stored in the vicinity.
- Never pour water into hot or burning oil or fat.
- Never move or carry the appliance when it is hot, i.e. during or immediately after use (because of the danger of tripping).
- Caution: some parts of the appliance become hot during operation, and dangerously hot vapour may be emitted from the lid.
- Caution: when turning over the food, only wooden implements (e.g. the spatulas provided) or heat-proof plastic tools should be used. Metal objects may cause damage to the coating.
- Do not place aluminium foil (or anything else) between the pan and the base.
- Only the original parts provided by the manufacturer and the original wok pan must be used. The pan has been developed specifically for use with this base.
- Do not use the pan on any other heat source.
- The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system
-
Do not let the power cord hang free, and keep the cord well away from hot parts of the appliance.
Always remove the plug from the wall socket, -
after use,
- in case of malfunction,
-
before cleaning.
-
When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself.
Do not let the power cord hang free. - Do not operate the appliance outdoors.
- This appliance is not intended for use by any persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
- This appliance is intended for domestic use only and not for commercial applications.
- In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by qualified personnel, including the replacement of the power cord. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to one of our customer service departments. The address can be found in the appendix to this manual.
Before using for the first time
- Before the appliance is used for the first time, all its parts (except the base) should be thoroughly cleaned using hot water and a little detergent. To prevent any remaining water from mixing with the oil or fat, ensure that all parts are thoroughly dried.
- Before the first use, let the hot-plate with the wok pan on it heat up for max. 10 minutes at maximum power with a little oil or fat. This will help to 'burn in' the protective coating. A little smoke may result; this is normal and will only last for a very short time. Ensure sufficient ventilation.
General information
Cooking with a wok is a typically Asian way of preparing food. Its main feature is the relatively short cooking time, ensuring that the cooked food keeps its flavour. All ingredients should be cut into small, bite-sized pieces. Do not use butter, margarine or
olive oil in the wok, as cooking temperatures are extremely high. Frying or vegetable oils are best suited for cooking with a wok.
Temperature control
The temperature can be set by means of the temperature control. The maximum setting is suitable for searing or gentle roasting. The medium setting is suitable for braising and stewing, while a low setting will simply keep the food warm.
Operation
- The base is activated when the appliance is connected to the mains.
- Pour a little oil suitable for very high temperatures (e.g. sunflower oil) into the wok pan and spread evenly.
- Place the pan centrally of the base hot-plate and insert the plug into a suitable wall socket. Set the temperature control to the required level.
- If required, the storage rack can be fitted to the rim of the wok pan by means of the hooks. The rack may be used for temporary storage of items that have already been cooked.
- Once the oil is sufficiently hot, put a small amount of the bite-sized food into the centre of the pan.
- Always start with those ingredients which require a longer cooking time, such as meat.
- Keep turning the food over; once food is sufficiently cooked on the outside, it should be moved to the side of the pan.
- Other ingredients such as vegetables should always be placed right in the centre of the pan.
- It is important to cook only small quantities at a time and not to over-fill the pan.
- Always remove the plug from the wall socket after use in order to switch off the base. Caution: The bottom of the pan as well as the hot-plate will remain very hot for some time.
General care and cleaning
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the base or the power cord with water and do not immerse them in water. Use only a slightly damp, lint-free cloth and a little detergent to clean the surfaces.
- Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
- All accessory parts may be cleaned in a dish-washer or with hot water and a little detergent.
- Do not pour oil or fat down the kitchen sink. It may be disposed of together with your household refuse while still slightly warm.
Disposal

Do not dispose of old or defective appliances in domestic garbage; this should only be done through public collection points.
