Frequently Asked Questions - KN 14 GUDE

What type of staples to use for the KN 14?
Use type 14 staples, 6 mm wide and 4-14 mm long. These staples are commonly available in stores.
How to load staples into the stapler?
Open the magazine by sliding the cover backwards. Insert the staple strip with the points down. Close the magazine until it clicks.
Can the stapler staple into hardwood?
Yes, but manual power may be limited. For hardwoods, use shorter staples and press firmly. For heavy-duty applications, prefer a pneumatic stapler.
How to adjust the stapling depth?
Most KN 14 models have an adjustment knob on the side. Turn it to adjust the driving force and thus the staple depth in the material.
What to do if the stapler jams?
Unlock the safety trigger. Open the magazine and remove the staple strip. Use pliers to manually remove the stuck staple. Then lubricate the mechanism.
Is the KN 14 stapler suitable for upholstery work?
Yes, it is perfectly suitable for attaching light fabrics, canvas, or plastic films to wooden frames. Use 6 to 8 mm staples for optimal results.
How to maintain the stapler to make it last long?
After each use, clean it with a dry cloth. Oil the moving parts with a drop of machine oil. Store it in a dry place. Avoid drops.
Is the warranty included?
Yes, Güde offers a 2-year warranty on manufacturing defects. Keep the invoice and manual for any claims.
Can I use staples from other brands?
Yes, as long as they are type 14 and meet the dimensions (width 6 mm, length 4-14 mm). Generic staples usually work well.
What to do if the stapler does not drive staples fully?
Check that the staples are properly loaded and of the correct type. Adjust the stapling depth. If the problem persists, lubricate the mechanism or replace the impact spring.

Maintenance table

Following the maintenance instructions specified in this document will provide this high-quality product with long and trouble-free operation. Disconnect the appliance from the compressed air source for maintenance and treatment. To ensure long and trouble-free working of your tacker/nailer, it is necessary to clean it every day and regularly lubricate it. For this purpose, special tool oil should only be used:

Via oil mist lubricatorA complete maintenance unit includes an oil mist lubricator and is fitted on the compressor.
Via lubricator on the pipingIn the immediate vicinity of the appliance (app. 50 cm distance), a lubricator sufficiently providing the appliance with oil is installed on the lubricator piping.
Manually If your appliance has no maintenance unit or lubricator on piping, 3-5 oil drops must be added to the compressed air connection before the pneumatic appliance is put into operation. If the pneumatic appliance has been out of service for several days, 5-10 oil drops must be added to the compressed air connection before switching the appliance on. Store your pneumatic appliances only in dry rooms.

Lubricate the appliance with special oil for pneumatic appliances using an extension if there has been a long operation break.

Store the appliance in a cleaned, dry, dust-free condition and at temperatures above 5°C.
