Safety instructions

Step-by-step instructions
The instructions for use apply to several versions of this appliance. Accordingly, you may find descriptions of individual features that do not apply to your specific appliance.
INSTALLATION
- The manufacturer will not be held liable for any damages resulting from incorrect or improper installation.
- The minimum safety distance between the cooker top and the extractor hood is 650 mm (some models can be installed at a lower height; please refer to the paragraphs on working dimensions and installation).
- Check that the mains voltage corresponds to that indicated on the rating plate fixed to the inside of the hood.
- For Class I appliances, check that the domestic power supply guarantees adequate earthing.
Connect the extractor to the exhaust flue through a pipe of minimum diameter 120 mm. The route of the flue must be as short as possible.
- Do not connect the extractor hood to exhaust ducts carrying combustion fumes (boilers, fireplaces, etc.).
- If the extractor is used in conjunction with non-electrical appliances (e.g., gas-burning appliances), a sufficient degree of aeration must be guaranteed in the room in order to prevent the backflow of exhaust gas. The kitchen must have an opening communicating directly with the open air in order to guarantee the entry of clean air.
When the cooker hood is used in conjunction with

appliances supplied with energy other than electric, the negative pressure in the room must not exceed 0.04 mbar to prevent fumes being drawn back into the room by the cooker hood.
In the event of damage to the power cable, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or by the technical service department, in order to prevent any risks.

- If the installation instructions for the gas hob specify a greater distance than that stated above, this must be taken into account. Regulations concerning the discharge of air must be fulfilled.
- Use only screws and small parts in support of the hood.
Warning: Failure to install the screws or fixing device in accordance with these instructions may result in electrical hazards.
Connect the hood to the mains through a two-pole switch having a contact gap of at least 3 mm.
USE
- The extractor hood has been designed exclusively for domestic use to eliminate kitchen smells.
- Never use the hood for purposes other than for which it has been designed.
- Never leave high naked flames under the hood when it is in operation.
- Adjust the flame intensity to direct it onto the bottom of the pan only, making sure that it does not engulf the sides.
- Deep fat fryers must be continuously monitored during use: overheated oil can burst into flames.
- Do not flambé under the range hood; risk of fire.
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of

experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
CAUTION: Accessible parts may become hot when used with cooking appliances.
MAINTENANCE
- Switch off or unplug the appliance from the mains supply before carrying out any maintenance work.
- Clean and/or replace the Filters after the specified time period (Fire hazard).
- The Grease filters must be cleaned every 2 months of operation, or more frequently for particularly heavy usage, and can be washed in a dishwasher.
- The Activated charcoal filter is not washable and cannot be regenerated, and must be replaced approximately every 4 months of operation, or more frequently for particularly heavy usage.
- "Failure to carry out cleaning as indicated will result in a fire hazard".
- Clean the hood using a damp cloth and a neutral liquid detergent.

INSTALLING THE COOKER HOOD

The clearance height between the inferior part of the cooker hood and the hob must be 650 mm (some models can be fitted at a lower height from the hob, please refer to the installation paragraph).

Drilling the Ceiling/Support Shelf
- Use a plumb line to mark the centre of the hob on the ceiling/support shelf.
- Place the drilling template 21 provided on the ceiling/support shelf, making sure that the template is in the correct position by lining up the axes of the template with those of the hob. Mark the centres of the holes in the template.
- Drill the holes at the points marked:
- For concrete ceilings, drill for plugs appropriate to the screw size.
- For hollow brick ceilings with wall thickness of 20 mm: drill ø 10 mm (immediately insert the Dowels not provided).
- For wooden beam ceilings, drill according to the wood screws used. For wooden shelf, drill ø 7 mm. For the power supply cable feed, drill
- For the air outlet (Ducted Version), drill according to the diameter of the external air exhaust duct connection.
Insert two screws of the following type, crossing them and leaving 4-5 mm from the ceiling:
- For concrete ceilings, use the appropriate plugs for the screw size (not provided).
- For cavity ceilings with inner space, with wall thickness of approx. 20 mm, screws not provided.
- For wooden beam ceilings, use 4 wood screws (not provided).
- For wooden shelf, use 4 screws with washers and nuts (not provided).

The frame must be securely fastened so as to support both the weight of the hood and the stress caused by occasional axial pressure against the fitted appliance.
After fixing, make sure that the base is stable even when the frame is subjected to lateral stress.
If the ceiling is not strong enough in the area where the hood is to be fixed, the installer must strengthen the area using suitable plates and counterplates anchored to resistant structures.

INSTALLING THE COOKER HOOD
The cooker hood is more effective when used in the extraction mode (ducted to the outside).
Venting kits may be purchased through your retailer or DIY store, and must be ducted to an outside vent of ∅125mm (5") or ∅150mm (6").
For the best performance use the shortest possible duct run and the minimum number of bends.
Where flexible ducting is fitted it should not be turned through very tight bends as this may impair the performance of the hood.
It is recommended a maximum length of 3 metres with one bend, to be installed, to be reduced metre for each 900 bend. If a distance is greater than 3 metres the efficiency of the hood could be impaired.
The ducting used must be manufactured from fire retardant material conforming to the relevant British Standard or DIN 4102-B1.
When the cooker hood is ducted to the outside the charcoal filter must be removed.

Ducting Connection
Connect the ducting chosen to:
- the ∅150mm ducting spigot on top of the motor housing, or the ∅150-120mm ducting spigot item 9 and secure using the jubilee clips item 25 (not provided).
- A ∅120-125mm collar item 10 is provided the ∅120mm ducting spigot when 125mm fitted.

If the room where the cooker hood is to be used contains a fuel burning appliance such as a central heating boiler, then its flue must be sealed or balanced flue type.
If other types of flue or appliances are fitted sure that there is an adequate supply of air to the room.
The cooker ducting (extraction mode) must never be connected to central heating flues, radiators or water heaters etc.
Recirculation
The cooker hood is supplied specified for use in the recirculation mode, with the charcoal filter fitted.
In the recirculation mode contaminated air is passed through the charcoal filter to be purified and into the kitchen through the grille outlets on either side of the chimney.

Recirculation Connection
- Insert the reducer flange 9 on the air outlet of the extractor.
- Attach the adhesive Novastik gasket 13 to the air outlet connection 15 and fix this to the upper frame using the 2 knobs 24.
- Fix the air outlet connection extension piece 14 to the air outlet connection 15.
- Place the air outlet connection tube 29 between the two air outlets.

The lower chimney measures (with the Hood body and recirculation grilles) 750 mm and the upper measures 460 mm. The overall installed measurement is min. 750 - max 1200 mm.

Fitting the Upper Chimney and Hood Body
- Insert the upper duct and fix it on the upper duct connection using the 12c screws (2.9 x 9.5) supplied with the appliance.
Recirculation version
- It is necessary to make sure that the air outlet connection 15 is placed correctly so that the air outlet grid in it corresponds to that of the chimney.
- If the grids of the two parts do not correspond to each other, it will be necessary to remove the chimney and adjust the position of the air outlet connection 15, and finally assemble the parts again by following the earlier indications.
