Frequently Asked Questions - TD-9K ROLAND

How to adjust the tension of the mesh pads (PDX-8)?
Use the supplied tuning key. Hand-tighten the six tension rods, then tighten them an additional two turns following the order in the manual (1-4-2-5-3-6). The tension should provide a response similar to that of an acoustic drumhead. Do not overtighten to avoid damaging the sensor.
How to connect the TD-9 to an amplifier or headphones?
Connect stereo headphones (6.35 mm jack) to the PHONES jack. For an amplifier, connect the OUTPUT jacks (L/MONO and R) using jack cables. For mono listening, use only the L/MONO jack. Set the volume to minimum before connecting and turn off all devices.
How to select a drum kit?
Press the [KIT] button to display the DRUM KIT page. Use the [+/-] buttons or dial to browse the 50 preset kits. The selected kit is immediately active. You can also modify each sound via the INST menu.
How to record my playing with Quick Rec?
Press [QUICK REC] to start recording. Play on the pads, then press [QUICK REC] again to stop. To listen, press [QUICK PLAY]. The recording is temporary; to save it, use a USB flash drive via the SETUP menu.
How to use the built-in metronome?
Press [CLICK (TEMPO)] to start the metronome. Default tempo is 120 BPM. To change it, hold [SHIFT] and press [CLICK] to access the TEMPO page. You can also change the sound and time signature in the CLICK menu.
How to connect a USB flash drive to play audio songs?
Insert the USB flash drive into the port on the front of the module. Press [SONG], then use [+/-] to select 'EXTERNAL SONG'. Audio files (WAV, 44.1 kHz, 16/24 bit) appear. Press [▶/■] to play. Do not unplug the USB drive during access.
How to choke a cymbal (CY-8)?
To choke a cymbal sound, pinch the edge of the cymbal with your hand immediately after striking it. You must grab the edge sensor (located near the Roland logo) for the choke to work. Grabbing the cymbal elsewhere will not cut the sound.
What to do if I hear no sound?
First check connections: Is the special cable properly connected to the module and pads? Is the volume turned up? If using an amplifier, check its settings. Make sure the module is powered on (POWER button lit). Refer to the troubleshooting section of the owner's manual for more details.
How to change the drumhead on a PD-85 or PD-105 pad?
Remove the six tension rods and washers, then take off the ring. Replace the old head with a new one (MH-8 for PD-85, MH-10 for PD-105). Replace the ring and tension rods, then tighten evenly following a cross order. Be careful not to damage the center sensor.
How to reset the TD-9 module to factory settings?
Press [SETUP], then [F3] (UTIL) and [F3] (RESET). Choose 'Factory Reset' and confirm with [F3] (EXEC). All user data will be erased, including custom kits and settings. Back up to a USB flash drive first if necessary.

The Ground Truth image displays a single, solid horizontal line. According to Rule 2 (UNDERSCORE & LINE RULES), this is a stylistic or background line, not a placeholder underscore. Therefore, the OCR result must ignore it and output nothing or only meaningful text. The provided OCR content is "____", which consists of four underscores. This is an incorrect interpretation of the line as a placeholder, violating the rule that stylistic lines must be ignored. The OCR has hallucinated underscores where none should exist based on the GT's visual context. Hence, the OCR result is inconsistent with the Ground Truth.

kez le module (TD-9)

The Ground Truth image displays a single, solid horizontal line. According to Rule 2 (UNDERSCORE & LINE RULES), if the GT contains lines used for stylistic emphasis or as background elements (like ruled paper), the OCR result must ignore them. The provided OCR content is "____", which consists of four underscores. This is incorrect because underscores are not equivalent to a solid line and are not permitted under the “Stylistic/Background Lines (Ignore)” rule. Outputting underscores for a stylistic line violates the rule and constitutes an error. Therefore, the OCR result is inconsistent with the Ground Truth.

The Ground Truth image displays a single, solid horizontal line, which is a stylistic or background element (like a rule line on paper). According to Rule 2, such lines must be ignored by the OCR result. The provided OCR content is "____", which consists of underscores. Underscores are not equivalent to a solid line and are not permitted under the “Stylistic/Background Lines (Ignore)” rule. Outputting underscores for a stylistic line is incorrect because it misinterprets the line as a placeholder fill-in-the-blank area. Hence, the OCR result is inconsistent with the Ground Truth.
