Frequently Asked Questions - Easy Jet Plus CHG3 MOULINEX

How to descale my Moulinex Easy Jet Plus CHG3 steam generator?
Use a mixture of water and white vinegar (1/3 vinegar, 2/3 water) in the tank. Turn on the steam function until empty, then rinse twice with clean water. Follow the instruction manual.
What water should I use in the steam generator?
Use tap water or demineralized water. Avoid distilled or softened water as it may damage the appliance.
How to use the vertical steam function?
Fill the tank, plug in the appliance, wait for pressure to build (about 2 minutes), then hold the iron vertically and press the steam button to dewrinkle hanging clothes.
Why is my steam generator not producing steam?
Check that the tank is not empty, the appliance is plugged in, and the heating light is on. Descaling may be necessary if abnormal noises are heard.
How to clean the iron soleplate?
Wait for the soleplate to cool, then clean it with a non-abrasive damp cloth. Never use chemicals or metal sponges.
Can I leave water in the tank after use?
It is recommended to empty the tank after each use to prevent limescale buildup. Let it cool before emptying.
What should I do if the appliance turns off by itself?
The automatic shut-off activates after 8 minutes of inactivity for safety reasons. Turn the appliance back on by pressing the switch.
How to change the anti-scale filter?
The CHG3 model has an integrated anti-scale filter. Open the filter compartment (see manual), remove the old filter and insert the new one. Put back in place.
What types of fabrics can I iron with vertical steam?
Vertical steam is suitable for hanging clothes (suits, dresses, coats) and curtains. Avoid delicate materials that could be damaged by heat.
The generator makes noise, is it normal?

2 - SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • This product has been designed for domestic use only. Any commercial use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply. It is equipped with 2 safety systems: a pressure release valve which, in the event of malfunction, releases any excess steam and a thermal fuse to prevent any overheating.
  • Your iron must only be connected to:
  • an electrical system with voltage between 220 and 240 V. Connecting to the wrong voltage can cause irreversible damage and will invalidate the guarantee.
  • an earthed socket. If you are using an extension lead, ensure that it is correctly rated (10 A) and has an earth connection.
  • Any damaged power cord or iron-base steam hose must be replaced by an Approved Service Centre to avoid any danger or the risk of injury.

Caution:

  • Your iron's soleplate and the rest-plate on the base unit can become very hot and cause burns: never touch these parts.
  • Model with professional iron: always place the iron flat on its rest-plate, never on its heel.
  • Your appliance gives off steam which can cause burns.
  • Handle your iron carefully, particularly when using the vertical function. • Always keep the steam generator out of children's reach.
  • Never leave the appliance unattended:

- when it is connected to the power supply;

- until it has cooled down (around 1 hour).

• Always unplug your appliance:

  • before filling up or rinsing out the boiler
  • before cleaning it
  • after each use.

- Before unscrewing the boiler cap, always wait:

- until the generator has completely cooled down and been unplugged for 1 hour;

- or until there is no more pressure in the boiler.

- Never try to unscrew the boiler cap while the boiler is in use: the steam coming out under high pressure could cause burns.

Caution:

If the safety cap falls or the appliance receives a violent blow, the setting of the pressure release valve may be altered. In that case, have the boiler cap replaced at an Approved Service Centre.

  • Never immerse your steam generator in water or any other liquid. Never put it under the water tap.
  • When rinsing the boiler, never fill it up directly under the tap.
  • If the appliance falls, receives a violent blow or is not operating correctly, do not dismantle it: take it to an Approved Service Centre, to avoid any danger.

3 - PREPARING YOUR STEAM GENERATOR

Filling up the boiler:

  1. Place your steam generator on a stable, horizontal heat-resistant surface.
  2. Check that the appliance is unplugged and cold.
  3. Unscrew the boiler cap (F). ①
  4. Use a jug and fill it up with untreated tap water.
  5. Fill up the boiler, being careful not to overfill it. If any water spills out, wipe off the excess. ②
  6. Screw the boiler cap back on firmly (F).
  7. Fit the hose guide (N) onto the base unit and slide the steam tube in the loop. ③

What type of water should be used?

Your appliance is designed to work with untreated tap water. However, if your water is very hard, mix 50% tap water with 50% commercially available distilled or demineralised water.

What type of water should not be used?

Do not use tumble dryer condensate, scented water, softened water, refrigerator condensate, battery water, air conditioner condensate, pure distilled water or rainwater; they contain organic waste or mineral components that are concentrated by heat and cause spitting, brown staining or premature ageing of your appliance.

4 - STARTING UP YOUR STEAM GENERATOR

  1. Connect your steam generator to an earthed socket.
  2. Press the 2 switches (K and L) on the control panel to start up the boiler and the iron. The steam indicator light (M) on the button (L) lights up and the boiler starts to heat up. When the light (M) goes off (after about 8 minutes), the steam is ready.④

During ironing, the indicator light (C) on the iron and the steam indicator light (M) switch on and off, according to heating requirements.

Caution :

The first time the steam generator is used, there may be some fumes and smell but this is not harmful. They will not affect use and will disappear rapidly.

5 - STEAM IRONING

  1. Set the iron temperature dial (B) according to the type of material to be ironed.

To get steam, press the steam control button (A). ⑤

The steam stops when you release the button.

For delicate fabrics (●), press the steam control button very lightly (A) to avoid any drips.

Our recommendations:

- When using the iron for the first time, or if you have not used the steam function for a few minutes: press the steam control button (A) several times in a row, holding the iron away from your clothes. This will get rid of any cold water that may be present in the steam circuit.

Iron temperature dial setting (B):

  • Start with fabrics to be ironed at a low temperature (●) and finish with those which can handle higher temperatures (●●● or Max).
  • When ironing mixed fibre materials, set the ironing temperature for the most delicate fibre.
  • When ironing woollen items, press the iron's steam control button (A) intermittently and do not bring the iron into direct contact with the material.

Steam output setting (J):

  • If you are ironing thick fabric, increase the steam output.
  • If you are ironing at a low temperature, set the steam output to minimum. Ironing Board

A mesh type (vented) ironing board must be used to allow any excess steam to escape.

- If you use starch, spray it onto the side opposite to the one you are ironing.

6 - DRY IRONING

Put the boiler switch (L) on the "off" position.

  • Keep the iron switch (K) on the "on" position.
  • Set the iron temperature dial (B) according to the type of material to be ironed.

7 - VERTICAL DE-CREASING

  1. Set the iron temperature dial (B) and the steam output dial on the control panel (J) to Max.
  2. Hang the garment on a hanger.

As the steam produced is very hot, never de-crease a garment while it is being worn but always place the garment on a hanger.

  1. With the iron held vertically and tilted slightly forwards, press intermittently on the steam control button (A) while moving the iron from top to bottom. ⑥

Our recommendations :

For fabrics other than linen or cotton, keep the iron a few centimetres away in order not to burn them.

8 - FILLING THE BOILER DURING USE (EMPTY BOILER)

VERY IMPORTANT:

Before you open your boiler, ensure that there is no steam left in it. To do this, press the steam control button (A) until there is no steam left. ⑤

Never unscrew the boiler cap (F) when the iron is still putting out steam.

  1. Press the 2 switches (K and L) on the control panel.
  2. Unplug the generator.
  3. Slowly unscrew the boiler cap (F).
  4. Use a jug and fill it up with tap water.
  5. Fill up the boiler, being careful not to overfill it. If any water spills out, wipe off the excess.
  6. Screw the boiler cap back on firmly (F), plug in your generator and switch it back on.
  7. Wait a few minutes for the boiler to heat up.

The generator and the iron are ready for ironing when the steam indicator light (M) and iron light (C) go out.

9 - CARING FOR YOUR STEAM GENERATOR

  • Before cleaning your appliance, make sure that it is disconnected and the soleplate (D) and the iron rest-plate (E) have cooled down.
  • Do not use any cleaning or descaling agents to clean the soleplate or boiler.
  • Never put the iron or the base unit under the tap.
  • Do not place the iron on a metal rest as this could damage it.

Always place it on the rest-plate on the base unit (E) : it is fitted with non-slip inserts and has been designed to withstand high temperatures.

Your iron's soleplate : Clean the soleplate with a damp cloth after each ironing session.

The base unit : From time to time, clean the plastic parts of the appliance with a slightly damp, soft cloth.

10 - RINSING OUT THE BOILER

Caution:

  • To extend the life of your boiler and to avoid any build-up of scale, it is essential that you rinse out the boiler after every 10 uses. If your water is hard, increase the frequency.
  • Never use descaling agents to rinse out the boiler : they could damage it.
  • Make sure that the generator has cooled down and has been unplugged for more than 1 hour.
  • Use a jug and fill the boiler with tap water until 3/4 full.
  • Shake the base unit a little then empty it out completely into a container.

For best results, we recommend that you repeat the operation once more.

11 - STORING YOUR STEAM GENERATOR

  1. Press the 2 switches (K and L) on the control panel.
  2. Unplug the generator.
  3. Place the iron on its rest-plate (E).
  4. Allow the iron (and the rest-plate) to cool down for 30 minutes.

You can then put your steam generator away in full safety.
