USER MANUAL SM 3798 SEVERIN
Before using the appliance, please read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by persons familiar with these instructions.

Connection to the mains supply
Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds to the voltage marked on the rating label of the appliance. This product complies with all relevant CE-labelling directives.
Important safety instructions
- In order to avoid hazards, and to comply with safety requirements, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by
our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix).
- The appliance may only be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
• Children must not be permitted to operate the appliance. The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children.
• Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance.
- Care is required when dealing with hot liquids, as there is a chance steam might escape from the blender jug.
• Always disconnect the appliance from the mains and allow it to cool down before it is cleaned.
• To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids
or immerse it.
• After switching off, always wait until the motor has come to a complete standstill. Do not touch any moving parts. - The individual attachments should be cleaned after each cycle of use. For detailed information, please refer to the section Cleaning and care. - The blades are extremely sharp. To prevent injuries, take special care while emptying or cleaning the processing bowl, and when cleaning the blender attachment. - Caution: Any misuse can cause severe personal injury. - Always remove the plug from the wall socket
- before assembling or disassembling the appliance,
- in case of any malfunction,
- when there is no supervision,
- after use,
- before cleaning the appliance.
- This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as
- by staff members in shops,
offices and other similar working environments,
- in agricultural working environments,
- by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar establishments,
- in bed-and-breakfast type environments.
- Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – these materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
- Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
- Do not allow the appliance or its power cord to touch hot surfaces or to come into contact with any heat sources.
- During operation, the appliance should be placed on a scratch-resistant surface.
- No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
Before using for the first time
Before the appliance is used for the first time, it must be thoroughly cleaned as described in the section Cleaning and care.
Short-time operation
The appliance is designed to process average domestic quantities of food. With the blender or chopping attachment, it may be operated without interruption for a maximum of 1 minute at any switch setting, after which it should be allowed to cool down for approximately 3 minutes. When using the whisk attachment, it may be operated without interruption for a maximum of 2 minutes at any switch setting. Allow it to cool down to room temperature for approximately 3 minutes afterwards.
Operating button
The blender is equipped with 2 push-type operating buttons and a speed control.
Operating button ⓘ:
the speed can be adjusted with the speed control.
Operating button TURBO: highest speed setting.
Operation
- When fitting the blender attachment to the drive unit, ensure that the arrow mark on the drive unit and the open-lock symbol on the attachment are aligned: to lock, turn the attachment so that the arrow is aligned with the lock symbol.
- Always use a suitable container for operation. A tall container with a flat base is best.
- Push the blender attachment down into the ingredients in the bowl before briefly switching the appliance on with the operating or turbo button.
- Make sure that the unit can rotate freely inside the bowl and is not blocked during operation.
- As soon as the operating or turbo button
is released, the appliance will switch off. Always wait until the motor has come to a complete standstill before lifting the blender attachment from the mixture.
- Always remove the plug from the wall socket after use.
Attachments
Always wait until the motor has come to a complete standstill and remove the plug from the wall socket before changing any attachments.
The attachments are fitted to the drive unit. Ensure that the markings on the drive unit and attachments are correctly aligned.
Chopping attachment
- Caution: Exercise extreme care: the blades are very sharp. When handling the blades, always hold them by the upper protective plastic covering.
- Fit the cutting blade unit into the bowl before filling the bowl with the food to be chopped.
- Place the lid on the bowl.
- Attach the drive unit to the lid of the bowl and turn to lock; ensure that the arrow and lock symbols are properly aligned.
- Insert the plug into the wall socket and press the turbo button in brief bursts until the mixture has reached the desired consistency. During processing, the lid and bowl should be securely held in place.
- Avoid overfilling the bowl; it may be filled with herbs etc. up to two thirds maximum. Before the bowl is filled, the food to be processed should be cut into pieces of about 1 cm.
- Do not fill the bowl with hot liquid or hard material such as ice cubes, nutmegs,
hard grain, coffee beans, rice or spices. Other food items such as hard cheese, chocolate or raw meat are also unsuitable for processing.
- After processing, always remove the plug from the wall socket before taking the lid off or detaching the drive unit. To detach the unit, turn it so that the arrow mark and open-lock symbol are aligned. Remove the lid and take out the processed food and the blade unit.
- When processing further food after the first cycle, make sure that the receptacle for the blade unit at the bottom of the bowl is free of food residue before refitting the unit.
For maximum performance when using the blender attachment, the following recipe may be used:
Blend 280 g soaked carrots and 420 ml water for 60 seconds.
For maximum performance when using the chopping attachment, the following recipe may be used:
Process 200 g of boneless meat.
Whisk attachment
The whisk attachment is suitable for whipping cream or beating egg-white, or for processing liquids such as soups or sauces.
- Fit the whisk attachment to the whisk mounting.
- Fit the drive unit to the whisk mounting; then turn to lock it, ensuring that the arrow and lock symbols are properly aligned. • Always use a suitable container for operation. Any tall container with a flat base is suitable. Push the whisk attachment down into the ingredients in the bowl before briefly switching the unit
on with the operation buttons.
• Always wait until the motor has come to a complete standstill before lifting the whisk attachment from the mixture. - Remove the plug from the wall socket after use.
For maximum performance when using the whisk attachment, the following recipe may be used:

Blender jug
The blender jug has a non-slip base which can also be used as a lid.
Mounting the wall bracket
Drill two 6 mm holes in the wall to match the mounting holes in the bracket. Insert the plugs provided into the holes. (Depending on the nature of the wall, the use of special plugs may be required.) Screw the bracket on to the wall. Afterwards ensure that the wall bracket is securely held in place.
Cleaning and care
• Always remove the plug from the wall socket before cleaning the appliance. - Do not use abrasives, harsh cleaning solutions or sharp or pointed objects for cleaning. - Remove any food residue after each cycle of use. - To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the drive unit or power cord with liquids or immerse them. The drive unit may be wiped with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth. - The blender attachment may be cleaned with hot, soapy water, using a mild detergent. Caution: The blades are
extremely sharp.
- To clean the blades of persistent food residues, a suitable brush may also be used.
- The lid of the chopping unit and the whisk drive may be cleaned with a damp cloth, using a mild detergent. • Make sure that water does not enter the drive shaft of the blender rod, chopping unit lid or whisk drive from above.
- The whisk attachment, blender jug with lid, processing bowl and chopping blade may be cleaned with hot, soapy water, using a mild detergent. Caution: The blades are extremely sharp. • These parts are not dishwasher-safe.
Disposal

Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter.
Guarantee
This product is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to one of our authorised service centres. This guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the instructions, and provided that it has not been modified, repaired or interfered with by any unauthorised person, or damaged through misuse.
This guarantee naturally does not cover wear and tear, nor breakables such as glass and ceramic items, bulbs etc. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, nor any legal rights you may have as a consumer under applicable national legislation governing the purchase of goods. If the product fails to operate and needs to be returned, pack it carefully, enclosing your name and address and the reason for return. If within the guarantee period, please also provide the guarantee card and proof of purchase.
