How do I install the rainwater collector on my downpipe?

Start by marking the drilling point with a spirit level and a pencil. Drill the hole with the supplied hole saw, then deburr the edges. Select the flange suitable for your pipe (70-80 mm or 90-110 mm), attach the flat gaskets, and secure the clamp connector. Insert the clamp connector into the hole and tighten the nut. Apply soap to the rubber tongue and press it into the pipe through the opening. Snap the collector onto the clamp connector.

Can the collector fit plastic and metal pipes?

Yes, the collector is suitable for plastic or metal downpipes with a nominal diameter of 70 to 110 mm. For 70 mm pipes, you need to cut the rubber tongue at the notches.

How do I adjust the summer/winter mode?

For winter mode, turn the regulating valve across the flow direction to prevent freezing. For summer mode, turn it in the flow direction to allow collection. See figures L and M in the manual.

How do I clean the filter?

Remove the regulating valve and the filter insert from the collector. Remove accumulated leaves from the filter, then rinse the regulating valve with a hose. Reinsert the filter insert and reassemble everything.

What safety equipment should I use when drilling?

Wear safety goggles and protective gloves without fail. Handle the hole saw carefully and be careful when deburring with a knife or file.

What maximum roof area is supported?

The collector can be used on roof areas up to approximately 80 m². Beyond that, performance may be insufficient.

How do I connect the collector to the cistern?

Drill a hole in the cistern with the hole saw. Place the rubber gasket DN 19/32 from the outside. Soap the end of the connection hose and push it through the gasket. Then connect the collector and the cistern with the connection hose.

What if my downpipe has a diameter of 70 mm?

For a 70 mm diameter, you must cut the rubber tongue at the notches using scissors. Then follow the standard assembly steps using the appropriate flange (70-80 mm).

Does the collector require a power source?

No, the collector operates entirely manually and requires no electrical power. The summer/winter regulation is manual.

Congratulations!

With your purchase you have decided in favour of a quality product. Familiarise yourself with the product before installation and before taking it into use for the first time. In this regard, please read the following assembly instructions attentively. Use this appliance only as described and only for the specified areas of application. Retain these instructions for future reference. In addition, pass these documents on, together with the product, to any future owner.

Intended use

This rainwater collector is intended for installation in a vertical downpipe. There it collects rainwater flowing from the roof water and directs it to a rainwater barrel. It can be used for roof areas of up to about 80m^2 in size. This rainwater collector can be installed on standard rainwater downpipes made of metal or plastic with diameters from 70 - 110 mm. The rainwater collector is intended solely for domestic use. This appliance is not intended for any other use or for uses beyond those detailed. Claims of any kind for damage resulting from unintended use will not be accepted. The user alone bears liability.

Downpipe and rainwater barrel

IMPORTANT

The borehole in the downpipe is also the maximum filling height of the rainwater barrel.
- Be aware of unevenness in the terrain, so as to prevent subsequent overflows from the rainwater barrel. It is best to place the rainwater barrel at its final intended location and to then transfer the marking for the max. filling level onto the downpipe with a spirit level.

1. Using a spirit level and a pencil, mark the hole positions onto the rainwater barrel and downpipe (see Figure D).

WARNING - RISK OF INJURY

• When drilling, be sure to wear personal protective equipment (goggles and gloves).
  Exercise caution when handling the crown drill.
  Exercise caution when deburring with the carpet knife. The blade is very sharp!

• Drill the hole in the down pipe with the crown drill (see Figure E). Take care to drill with light pressure only, especially in sheet metal downpipes. Then deburr the drillhole with a suitable tool, such as a carpet knife for plastic downpipes or a file with sheetmetal downpipes.

• Now drill the hole in the rainwater barrel with the crown drill and then deburr the drillhole (see Figure F).

Rainwater collector

NOTICE

• With a downpipe size of 70mm you will need to cut off the rubber tabs at the indentations with scissors (see Figure G).
• Select the flange (2 or 3) appropriate to the size of your downpipe. Take note of the size details indicated on the inside of the flanges.
• Glue one of the flange gaskets 4 into the recess provided on the inside of the flange. To do this, remove the adhesive backing from the flange gasket (see Figure H).
• Guide the clamping device ⑥ through the flange. When inserting it, ensure that the guides in the flange grip the rails on the clamping device. Press the two parts firmly together, so that the clamping device engages (see Figure. I).
• Turn the nut of the clamping device open such that there is sufficient space between the snap hook and flange. If need be, push the O-ring back (see Figure 1).
• Insert the clamping device into the hole in the downpipe. Thereby, press the clamping device upwards slightly and then press it firmly into the downpipe (see Figure 1).
• Turn the clamp nut clockwise until it is hand tight (see Figure 1).
• Moisten the outer sides and the neck of the rubber tabs with detergent (see Figure J).
• Press the rubber tabs together and slide them through the opening of the clamping device into the downpipe. Ensure that the tongued and grooved connection between the clamping device and rainwater collector interlocks correctly (see Figure J).

Connection to the rainwater barrel

1. Insert from outside the supplied rubber seal DN 19/32 in the hole of the rainwater barrel.
2. Moisten the end of the connecting hose with detergent.
3. Firmly press the connection hose through the rubber seal DN 19/32.
4. Connect the rainwater collector 7 and the rainwater barrel with the connection hose (see Figure K).

Summer and winter operation

To make the rainwater barrel frost-secure in winter, the feed should be shut off to rainwater barrel.

1. To do this, place the control valve at a right angle to the flow direction (see Figure L).
2. To switch back to summer mode, turn the control valve in the flow direction (see Figure M).

Cleaning

Clean the outer surfaces of the rain water diverter with a damp cloth.
Remove the control valve and the filter insert from the rainwater collector (see Figure N).
Remove any accumulated leaves from the filter and rinse the control valve with a water hose (see Figure N).
Replace the filter insert back into the control valve and then into the rainwater collector.

Disposal

Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility. Pay heed to the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre.
