Frequently Asked Questions - 6029562 INTENSO

What is the storage capacity of the Intenso 6029562 external hard drive?
The 6029562 model has a capacity of 1 TB (1000 GB), enough to store thousands of photos, videos, or documents.
Is the Intenso 6029562 hard drive compatible with my computer?
Yes, it is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is formatted in exFAT, allowing immediate use on these systems without reformatting.
How do I format the hard drive for specific use (e.g., NTFS on Windows)?
Connect the drive, open your system's disk management utility (e.g., Disk Management on Windows), then format the partition to the desired format (NTFS, FAT32, etc.). Note that formatting erases all data.
What is the transfer speed of this external hard drive?
With USB 3.0, the theoretical maximum speed is 5 Gbit/s, but in practice, the transfer rate is about 100-120 MB/s for sequential read/write, depending on files.
Can I use this hard drive with a TV or game console?
Yes, provided the TV or console has a USB port and supports external storage. For Xbox or PlayStation consoles, reformatting may be required.
How do I back up my files automatically with this hard drive?
Use your system's built-in backup software (e.g., File History on Windows, Time Machine on macOS) by selecting the Intenso drive as the destination.
The hard drive makes noise or heats up. Is this normal?
A slight rotation noise and moderate heat are normal during intensive use. If the noise becomes abnormal or the heat excessive, check ventilation and avoid soft surfaces.
Is the provided USB cable standard? Can I use another cable?
Yes, the cable is a USB 3.0 Micro-B to USB-A cable. You can use any USB 3.0 compatible cable, but speed may be reduced with a USB 2.0 cable.
What should I do if my hard drive is not recognized by the computer?
Try a different USB port, another cable, or plug it into another computer. If the drive is still invisible, open Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac) to see if it appears. If so, assign a drive letter or format it.
What is the average lifespan of this hard drive?
Lifespan depends on usage. On average, an external hard drive can last 3 to 5 years. Avoid shocks, extreme temperatures, and always safely disconnect it.

For the functions of star and hash keys, please refer to the following points of these operating instructions.

LED indicator:

Blue LED: When remaining illuminates it indicated that the hard disk is ready for operation. The blue LED flashes when accessing the hard disk (read / write operations). When entering the password, each keystroke is visualised by interruption of the blue LED lighting.

Red LED: Indicates that the hard disk is locked and that you must enter the password to access the hard disk.

Green LED: Indicates that the hard disk drive is unlocked and that you can access any data stored.

1. Use:

Intenso Encryption hard disk drive is already formatted as a factory default and provided with a password so that you can use the hard disk immediately.

In order to access the hard disk, you must first enter the default password and confirm with the hash key. After successful entry, the green LED lights up and you can now find the Intenso drive in file manager.

Note: The default password is: 1234. Please change the password before you store your personal data on the hard disk!

2. General commands

For normal use, you only need the number (0-9) keys and the hash (#) key.

To unlock the hard disk, enter your password using the number keys and press the (#) key to confirm.

Keep the hash (#) button pressed for 3 seconds to lock again the unlocked hard disk. Please note that locking is only possible, if no read / write operations are currently taking place.

3. Changing the password:

Prerequisite: The hard disk must be locked; the LED must therefore light up red.

a) Press the hash (#) and star (*) key simultaneously for 3 seconds, until the LED starts flashing red.
b) Now type your old password and press the hash (#) key. If you have entered your password correctly, the LED will start flashing green (slow flashing). If you have entered your password incorrectly, the LED will flash red. In this case, return to step a).
c) Now enter your new password and confirm your entry by pressing the hash (#) key.

d) The green LED flashes rapidly now. Please confirm your new password by entering it again and confirm your entry by pressing the hash (#) key.
e) If the confirmation of the new password is successful, the green LED lights up for 3 seconds. Then the red LED lights up again and the hard disk is locked. If you enter the new password incorrectly when confirming, the hard disk will be locked and the red or green status LED will no longer be illuminated. Disconnect and reconnect the hard disk again and enter your old password in order to regain access.

4. Correction of password entry

To reset the password entry during the current entry, please press the star (*) key. To confirm the correction, the green LED will light up briefly for three times.

5. Multiple incorrect entries of the password

If the password is entered incorrectly 3 times, the hard disk will be locked. The red status LED will no longer be illuminated. In this case, the hard disk must be re-connected to the computer. If the password is inserted wrongly 100 sequent times, for safety reasons all data saved on the hard disk will be automatically definitively deleted.

6. Password reset

Warning: Through this process, all data stored on the hard disk will be permanently erased!

To reset the password, you must press the star (*) key and digit 1 simultaneously for the time required (about 3 seconds) until the green and red LEDs start flashing in sequence. The system will now be re-initialised and all stored data will be deleted. When initialisation is completed, the LED will turn red.

In this state, the hard disk must be re-initialised in the “Disk Management” of your operating system and formatted. For this purpose, the hard disk must first be unlocked using the default password (1234). Please refer to the valid instructions of the operating system you use for information on how to proceed.
