What is the power of my Rotel Professional Plus iron?

The Rotel Professional Plus steam iron has a power of 800 W under a voltage of 230 V ~ 50 Hz.

How to fill the boiler of my Rotel Professional Plus iron?

Before filling, unplug the iron. Use the supplied funnel (11) and measuring cup (12). Pour a maximum of 300 ml of tap water. Never exceed this amount.

Can I use demineralized water?

Yes, but it is advisable to mix it in equal parts with tap water to avoid water droplets. Exclusive use of demineralized water may cause leaks.

How to get continuous steam?

Turn the adjustment dial (2) to the right. The steam flow becomes constant and continuous. To interrupt, turn the dial to the left.

What to do if water comes out of the soleplate holes?

This can happen if the boiler is overfilled or if the iron is not hot enough. Make sure not to exceed 300 ml and wait for the indicator to turn off. If the problem persists, perform descaling.

How to clean the soleplate of my iron?

Use a damp cloth soaked in a mixture of water and vinegar (no abrasives). Then wipe with a dry cloth to avoid scratches.

How often should I descale my iron?

It is recommended to descale every three months or as soon as you notice water leaks. Use a commercial descaling product or Rotel Clac Clean.

How to empty the boiler after use?

Turn off the iron and unplug it. Let it cool for about 2 hours. Unscrew the safety cap (1) using the unscrewing cap (3) and tip the iron over a sink to empty all residual water.

Can I iron hanging clothes?

Yes, use the vertical steam function. Hang the garment on a hanger, hold it with one hand and steam by pressing the steam button (4) without touching the fabric with the soleplate.

What is the duration of the warranty?

Rotel offers a 5-year warranty on the high-pressure boiler (part no. 6). Other parts are covered by the legal warranty. Keep the warranty card and the receipt.

The ROTEL PROFESSIONAL plus**** functions on an entirely different technological concept than any other conventional steam iron. This iron was developed based on the knowledge that when ironing all manner of textiles, the best results are achieved via high pressure steam, and not by the greatest heat possible. Business sectors such as laundries, hotels, bed and breakfast inns, boutiques and tailors have long since realized this fact. Thanks to the high pressure steam, you can now iron textiles such as silk, wool, linen, etc. at the same temperature. It is neither necessary to adjust the temperature, nor use an ironing cloth. You can now iron your clothes without any fear of scorching something!

Your ROTEL PROFESSIONAL plus***** was so designed and constructed that it will offer you perfect, trouble-free ironing for many years to come. We would nevertheless like to provide you with the following practical advice for prolonging your iron's service life and optimizing its performance.

Even though the appliances are manufactured in conformance with the valid European standards, and all potentially dangerous components have thus been protected, to avoid accidents and damage, carefully read these instructions and only use the appliance for its intended purpose. INTENDED USE

You can use your ROTEL PROFESSIONAL plus***** to either dry or steam-iron all types of clothing, curtains and fabrics (even when hung on a clothes hanger). When ironing, follow the instructions indicated on the label. We recommend ironing on a stable and absorbent surface. This holds true for both positioning the fabrics, as well as setting down the iron to get another garment. The appliance is only intended for private use and is thus not suitable for industrial or commercial purposes. The manufacturer has not intended that this appliance be used for any other purpose. The manufacturer does not accept any liability for damages arising from unintended use of this appliance. All warranty rights shall be forfeited in cases of unintended use.

Caution!

Risk of burns! – The construction properties of the appliance referred to in this manual render it impossible to protect the user against potential contact with the soleplate, neither during its intended use, nor during the couple of minutes after it has been switched off. We furthermore recommend extreme caution when steam is emitted. Never point the steam jet at body parts or pets.

After turning off the iron and pulling the plug from the socket, place the iron out of reach for children on a stable surface to cool off.

Danger for Children

• This appliance may not be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities. Users who either lack experience or knowledge of the appliance, or who have not received instructions in using the appliance, must be supervised by a person who is responsible for their safety.
• Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• Keep all packaging from children, as it represents a source of danger.
• If the appliance has to be disposed of, we recommend severing the connector cable to rend it unserviceable. We moreover recommend rendering components harmless, particularly those which could be dangerous for children playing with the appliance.

Danger Due to Electricity

• Prior to connecting the appliance, you must check whether the line voltage (mains supply) corresponds to the specifications indicated on the appliance's type plate.
• The appliance must be connected to a grounded electrical socket.
• NEVER IMMERSE THE APPLIANCE IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUIDS.
• Do not iron when you have wet hands or naked feet.

Dangers Arising from Other Causes

• Fill the steam generator with water prior to initial operation of the appliance. Before refilling with water, always disconnect the appliance by pulling the plug out of the socket.
• When filling the generator with water, always use the funnel (11) and the measuring cup (12).
• Only turn on the appliance at the place you have set up to work.
• The first time you use the appliance, it could emit a slight amount of smoke. This occurs because several parts were lightly lubricated. Within a short time, this will no longer happen.
• When using the appliance, position it on a horizontal surface.

• Never leave the appliance unsupervised as long as it is connected to the power supply.

• The appliance must be used and set down on a stable surface.

• After ironing, or should you wish to leave the house for a brief period, please do not forget to turn the switch (7) to "0" and pull the plug from the socket.
• Before the iron has reached the optimum temperature, water could be emitted from the steam holes, should the steam button be pressed.
• The appliance may not be used when it has fallen, is visibly damaged or when it leaks water. To prevent risks of danger, all repairs, including the replacement of the power cord, must be carried out by our customer service or and authorized electrician.

Important Note on the Risk of Scalding and Burns

• Never iron clothes while they are being worn.
• Do not touch the metal parts, hot water or steam during operation and the first few minutes after switching off the appliance because of the risk of burns.
• Never point the steam jet at body parts or pets.

Caution – Property Damage

• Before using the appliance for the first time, remove any labels or protective films that might be on the soleplate.
• Uncoil the cable prior to use.
• Do not use sparkling mineral water (with added carbon dioxide. We recommend using decalcified water should your water be particularly calciferous (refer to the notes in paragraph "Care").
• Never set the hot iron down on the power cord or connecting cable. Ensure that they do not come into contact with the hot soleplate.
• Never remove the plug from the socket by pulling the power cord.
• To clean the appliance, first pull the power cord plug out of the socket, and wait until all parts have cooled off. Subsequently clean the appliance using a soft, non-abrasive and slightly dampened cloth. Never use solvents, as they will damage the plastic parts.
• The steam generator must be cleaned at least every three months to remove possible limescale build up, which could impact the appliance's proper functioning.
• Do not pour vinegar or other perfumed substances into the steam generator. All warranty claims will otherwise be forfeited.
• Do not wrap the power cord around the soleplate as long as the iron is still hot.
• Do not place the soleplate on metal surfaces.
• Do not expose the appliance to climatic conditions (rain, sun, etc....).

Note: When you first turn on the iron, a slight amount of smoke and water drops could be emitted. This is normal and will cease after approximately two fillings.

Filling the Boiler with Water Prior to Use

aution!

Unplug the iron before you fill it with water.

• Place the iron in a horizontal position, and fill the boiler using the measuring cup (12) and funnel (11) provided (Fig. B).
• NEVER FILL IT WITH MORE THAN 300 ml WATER. This amount corresponds to the quantity indicated on the measuring cup. If too much water is added, when you start to iron water will either leak or be sprayed out of the steam holes.
• Do not use any chemical additives and fragrances.
• Empty the boiler after use.

Preparing to Use Your Iron

The safety cap (1) must be properly secured. However, do not screw it on too tightly. NEVER TIGHTEN IT USING THE CAP SCREW (3). Only turn the safety cap as far as it will go. Screwing it on too tightly could damage the seal and steam would emit from the safety cap.

It is imperative that you use an absorbent ironing pad.

Turning on the Appliance

• Position the appliance on a level and stable surface.
• Before you connect the appliance to the power supply, please check whether the data specified on the type plate corresponds to your power supply voltage, and then set the switch (7) to "ON."
• The illuminated control light (5) indicates that the iron is heating up.
• Wait 4 - 5 minutes, until the control light goes out.
• The iron is now ready-for-use.

Steam Ironing

You can steam-iron using either STEAM JETS or CONTINUOUS STEAM GENERATION.

• To iron using steam jets, press the steam button (4, Fig. C), exerting more or less pressure to regulate the desired steam rate.
• Should you wish to use the maximum steam intensity, completely depress the steam button. The steam flow will always remain constant, and in proportion to the pressure you exert.
• To obtain continuous steam generation, turn the steam regulator (2, Fig. D) clockwise as shown in the diagram. You thus obtain a uniform and continuous flow of steam, which is the most intense, when the steam regulator is completely turned.
• You can also increase the steam jet during continuous steam generation by pressing the steam button (4).
• No matter whether you are ironing using the steam jet function or with continuous steam, never turn the iron upside down, nor tilt it too far to the fore or side.

It must be emphasized that steam is also generated in the automatic mode during short interruptions in ironing, e.g., when you are preparing the next garment to be ironed or you briefly switch off the ROTEL

PROFESSIONAL. However, if you take into consideration just how easily steam is generated manually, it is advisable to avoid automatic steam output, and thereby save energy and steam.

You will achieve the best ironing results by categorically turning off the steam button and, when necessary, trigger a super steam burst by lightly pressing the steam button. When ironing, NEVER use continuous steam or uninterrupted super steam bursts the whole time, because your laundry will otherwise become too wet and the steam supply is exhausted.

When setting down the ROTEL PROFESSIONALplus**** there is a risk of it slipping!

When the water volume has completely evaporated, no more steam will be emitted.

Caution!

Before setting down the iron, always switch off the steam flow.

NEVER OPEN THE SAFETY CAP (1) DURING USAGE. FIRST SET THE SWITCH (7) TO "0" BEFORE OPENING THE SAFETY CAP. SUBSEQUENTLY, PULL THE POWER PLUG OUT OF THE SOCKET AND THEN RELEASE THE PRESSURE IN THE IRON BY PRESSING THE STEAM BUTTON (4).

Filling with Water during Ironing

Always turn the appliance off and pull the power plug out of the socket before filling the boiler with water.

Should you need to refill the iron when ironing, please proceed as follows:

• Set the switch (7) to "0."
• Pull the power plug out of the socket.
• Completely depress the steam button (4) and discharge the steam pressure in the interior.
• Remove the safety cap (1) on the boiler. Use the cap screw provided (3) to facilitate its removal. The cap screw provides for a better grip on the safety cap and protects you from inadvertent burns.

- Pour a small amount of water into the boiler 2 or 3 times to discharge the steam in the boiler. Subsequently refill the boiler as normal.

Bear in mind that you never fill the iron with more than 300 ml water, i.e., the amount stipulated on the measuring cup. To ensure that the stipulated water volume is not exceeded, the iron must first be emptied before it is refilled.

• Completely retighten the safety cap.
• Plug the power plug back into the socket.
• Steam will be generated within a short time.

PRACTICAL ADIVCE

You should iron pure woollen materials, silk and synthetics either on their reverse sides or vertically to prevent shine marks on the materials. For other fabrics, particularly velvet, you can prevent shine marks by ironing in a single direction (with a cloth), and applying slight pressure. Make sure you continue moving the iron over the material being ironed.

Straight items: Lay the garment on the ironing board. Press the steam button as long as you see creases. When there are no more creases, run the iron over it again until it has dried. If you fold the garment, then first use super steam (press the steam button), and subsequently iron it until there is no trace of moisture.

Tucked sleeves (puffed sleeves): Place the iron in a vertical position. Hang the tucked sleeve at its seam over the tip of the iron. Press the steam button until the sleeve is wrinkle-free.

Never hold your other hand in front of the appliance, as the steam emitted is very hot!

How to iron trousers: Position the trouser leg onto the ironing board. Iron in a crease. Lift the appliance when you reach the seams and steam them. Vertically steam the upper part.

How to iron hung clothing: Hang the item of clothing on a clothes hanger, making sure that it hangs freely (no wall or the like behind it). Use one hand to hold the part you are going to iron so that the garment cannot swing back and forth. The soleplate must make complete contact with the material. Now press the steam button until the garment is smooth.

AFTER IRONING

COMPLETELY EMPTY the water tank after EACH use!

To avoid limescale build up, empty the appliance after each use. Prior to emptying the appliance, turn it off and pull the power plug out of the socket.

• Set the switch (7) to "0."
• Pull the power plug out of the socket.
• Press the steam button (4) to discharge the steam pressure

Let the iron cool off (approx. 2 hrs).

• Remove the safety cap (1) using the cap screw (3), turn the iron upside down to empty the water remaining in the boiler (Fig. E). Proceed carefully, because the water is boiling hot. This simple procedure will likewise assist in always maintaining a clean boiler interior.
• When you have finished ironing, never completely tighten the safety cap (1), but rather close it with 3-4 turns.
• Turn the steam regulator (2) counter-clockwise as far as it will go.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Caution!

Before you clean your iron, pull the power plug out of the socket and let the iron cool off.

Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. Regularly check the power cord for damage before using your iron. Should you detect any damage, take it to your nearest customer service and let it be replaced by a qualified specialist.

Cleaning the Soleplate

Deposits and other fabric residues can be removed from the soleplate using a cloth moistened in a water and vinegar solution. Use a dry cloth to wipe the soleplate dry.

Do not use a scouring agent to clean the soleplate. Ensure that the soleplate remains smooth: avoid contact with metal objects.

Cleaning the Iron

Clean the plastic parts with a wet, non-abrasive cloth, and dry it using a dry cloth.

Emptying and Cleaning the Boiler

Caution!

Turn off the appliance after ironing and pull the power plug out of the socket. Before you remove the safety cap (1), completely discharge the steam (depress the steam button) and wait until the appliance has sufficiently cooled off (approx. 2 hours) and the internal pressure is dispersed.

The following maintenance work must be carried out when water drips out of the steam holes, or at least about every 3 months.

• Before you clean your iron, pull the plug out of the socket and make sure the iron has completely cooled off.
• Completely empty the boiler over a sink.
• Fill the boiler with tap water. Close the safety cap and shake the appliance.
• Once again, empty all the water in the boiler.
• Repeat the process until the water running out is clear and clean.

Decalcifying

In addition, you can decalcify your appliance (in the case of water leakage) or flush it with water. Limescale residues can be removed using a commercially available decalcifying agent. However, to best care for your appliance and achieve optimum results, we recommend that our customers use the decalcifying agent Rotel "Clac Clean". Fill the measuring cup at a ratio of 1:2 with 1/3 decalcifying agent and 2/3 water, and pour it into the water filler hole. NEVER HEAT IT UP! Pour out the liquid after 1 to 2 hours. Rinse it out with tap water several times.

What Kind of Water is Suitable?

Tap Water

The manufacturer recommends operating the appliance using tap water with a total hardness of up to 17^ water hardness degree. Call your local water utilities service for information on the water hardness degree. Should your area have extremely hard tap water – for the sake of your laundry – we recommend adding boiled or distilled water to the tap water at a ratio of 1:1.

Distilled Water

Please take into consideration that exclusively using distilled water could impede steam generation. Water drops could then drip out of the soleplate. Distilled water should either be mixed with tap water at a ratio of 1:1, or you should occasionally only use tap water 3 to 4 times in a row.

What Kind of Water is not suitable?:

Water with Additives

Under no circumstances may starches, fabric softeners, perfume and glazes be added, residues will build up in the steam chamber, which could damage the appliance and dirty your laundry.

Mineral Water

The carbonic acids in mineral water provoke decomposition in the special steam chamber.

Rain or Pond Water

The so-called biofouling contaminates the water, which in turn obstructs the water flow.

Condensation Water Originating in the Refrigerator or Dryer

This type of water can contain foreign bodies. The water flow will also be impeded.

Battery Water

Battery water available at gas and petrol stations is not to be recommended, as even the slightest acid concentration will damage the iron.

Water Originating from Water Softening Systems

Water softening systems extract calcium from water, but add other substances to the water, which renders this water inappropriate for irons.

DECLARATION OF WARRANTY

We accord a 5-year guarantee for the high-pressure boiler.

The guarantee is valid without prejudice to any warranty rights provided by law and is exclusively in reference to the boiler and the high-pressure boiler. The term of guarantee commences with either the date of the purchase contract or with the delivery of the ROTEL PROFESSIONAL, and is valid for the duration of five years. In the case of a guarantee claim, the purchaser shall be obligated to immediately inform the guarantor in writing of the defect, that is to say, without any culpable delay. In the case of a guarantee claim, the purchaser is entitled to rectification of defects. To enforce the guarantee claim, the purchaser must send the iron together with the guarantee card and proof of purchase (sales receipt or purchase contract) to the respective customer service of the Rotel. The purchaser may not claim breakdown compensation from the seller corresponding to the duration of the repair. The shipment costs are at the expense of the purchasers. The guarantee card must indicate the date of purchase and a dealer's stamp. A guarantee will not otherwise be accorded. Self-inflicted defects or damages are excluded from the guarantee The guarantee rights expressly exclude damages incurred due to unintended use or operation, calcification of the boiler, excessive fluctuations in the supply voltage, incorrect installation or incorrect connection of the appliance, insufficient or improper maintenance, in as far as the instruction manual contains a maintenance plan, and any intervention on the appliance, which was not carried out by the Rotel service staff.

We accord legal warranty rights for rectification of all defects that are verifiably due to material or manufacturing faults. The warranty claim will be compensated by either a repair or replacement of the defective parts, according to our option. It will only be accorded when the guarantee card has been furnished with the date of purchase, a dealer's stamp and signature, and the sales receipt, together with the appliance, has been sent to customer service. Return shipments should be sent in the original packaging. Shipment costs are at the purchaser's expense. Repair and/or replacement of parts during the warranty period do not in any case extend the term of warranty. Liability for consequential damage will not be accorded.

Excluded from warranty:

• Damage due to unintended use or operation.
• Damage due to calcification or wear-and-tear.
• Wear-and-tear parts and fragile accessory parts made of plastic and rubber.
• Incorrect installation or incorrect connection.
• Excessive fluctuations in the supply voltage.
• Insufficient or improper maintenance.
• Shipping the appliance in inadequate packaging.

- Customer intervention or by third-parties, who are not employees of the specified customer service.
