1. Standards When installed in line with these instructions, the product will be compliant with standards EN 13241-1 and EN 12453. The instructions referred to in the installation manual and instructions for use of this product are designed to ensure that damage to property and injury to persons is avoided along with compliance with the above standards. Failure to comply with these instructions absolves Somfy from any liability for any damage that may be caused. FREEROLL RTS is a product that must be installed inside the garage with a built-in back-up control system (RDO CSI motor). Somfy hereby declares that the device is compliant with the essential demands and other relevant requirements of directive 1999/5/CE. A declaration of compliance is available from the web site at www.somfy.com/ce (FREEROLL RTS). This product is usable in the European Union and in Switzerland.

2. Safety instructions

Every 6 months, test that the motor drive unit reverses its motion when it encounters an obstacle that is at least 50 mm from ground level. If this is not the case, call your installation specialist. Before manually operating the door or performing maintenance work, always turn the power off. Never let children play with door control systems. Keep the remote controls out of reach of children. When replacing the light bulb, select a 230 V 25 W E14 type. Regularly check the operation of the door to identify any sign of wear, deterioration or incorrect balancing. Do not operate the door if repairs or adjustments are required. Remain at a safe distance when operating the door.

PRODUCT PRESENTATION Description

The FREEROLL RTS system is designed to power rolling garage doors in residential use. This drive system comprises: . A tubular motor (RDO CSI) with manual override head. . A receiver and control unit (FREEROLL RTS) with integrated courtesy light, control buttons on the cover, Safety Edge Transmitter and magnets.

1. Normal operation a. Using a Keytis or similar remote controls

b. Obstacle detection operation

The detection of excess weight during door opening will stop the door (anti-lift function)

EN The detection of an obstacle during door closure will stop and partially re-open the door.

To go back to a normal operation mode, it is necessary to operate on the system. This operation won’t be taken into account by the system.

c. Integral lighting operation

The light will come on every time the control unit is operated. It will go out automatically after 2 minutes once the door stops.

2. Special operation

Depending on the peripherals installed and the operating options set by your installer; the FREEROLL system may perform the following special operations: a. Orange Warning Light The Orange Warning Light will come on with a 2 sec warning every time the control unit is operated. It will go out automatically after 2 minutes once the door stops.

b. Safety photoelectric cell operation.

An obstacle detected between the cells will prevent the door from closing. The door will stop and then partially reopen when an obstacle is detected during the close cycle. The cover LED will blink RAPID RED until the obstacle is removed (then it will change to SOLID AMBER).

c. The Alarm buzzer function

If the roller is lifted manually above the BOTTOM Magnet, the alarm sounds for five minutes. To reset the alarm press a button on a remote control. The rolling garage door will start moving in the up direction.

TROUBLESHOOTING The cover control unit LED indicates the status of the control unit and rolling door.

The cover LED is a three-colour: RED, GREEN and AMBER lamp mounted on the front of the control unit. The status indications are detailed below: Door Positions Cover LED signal

1. Change the batteries of the remote controls

2. Replacing the bulb in the light unit

Remove the light cover from the top of the unit by pressing in at the bottom on both sides (see arrows) and lifting it away from the unit. The front cover can now be lifted a few centimetres clear of the unit.

3. Checking the obstacle detection function

Every six months, check that the door reverses direction when an obstacle prevents the door from closing (at least 50 mm above floor level).

4. Checking the safety mechanisms (Photo-electric cells)

Check correct operation every six months.
