How to record on a VHS cassette with S-VHS picture quality?

Use the function S-VHS ET by pressing the S-VHS ET button on the VCR before recording. This allows recording S-VHS signals on a standard VHS cassette, but only in SP mode.

What happens if the end of the tape is reached during playback?

The tape is automatically rewound to the beginning. This behavior is normal.

Why is the playback picture blurry or interrupted while TV broadcasts are clear?

This usually indicates that the video heads are dirty. Use a JVC EL3 "dry" cleaning cassette to clean them. If the problem persists, consult your dealer.

How to set the clock automatically?

During the first power-on, the VCR performs automatic channel and clock setting via the PDC signal. You can also use pre-set download via a T-V Link compatible TV or manually set the clock in the menu CLOCK SET.

Can I record satellite programs with the timer?

Yes, provided you install the optional satellite controller and connect it to the SAT CTL connector. You must also configure the satellite receiver brand and channel in the menu SAT CONTROL SET.

What to do if the timer recording does not work?

Check the following points: the clock must be set correctly, the timer must be engaged (icon ⊖ lit), a cassette with intact safety tab must be inserted, and the tape must not be at the end. Also refer to the troubleshooting table in the manual.

How to use the SHOWVIEW system to program a recording?

Press PROG to display the SHOWVIEW screen. Enter the SHOWVIEW number of the program using the numeric keys, then press OK to confirm. Verify the information (time, channel) and press ⊖ to activate the timer mode.

What is the difference between the AV1 and AV2 connectors?

The AV1 (L-1) connector is a full input/output (video, S-Video, audio) with T-V Link function. The AV2 (L-2) connector is an input/decoder (no output) intended for connection of a satellite receiver or Canal Plus decoder.

How to clean the video heads?

Use exclusively a JVC recommended EL3 type "dry" cleaning cassette. Insert it into the VCR and let it play for 10 to 15 seconds in playback mode. Do not use wet or abrasive cleaning cassettes.

Can the unit stay indefinitely in pause or still mode?

No. To protect the video heads, the VCR automatically switches to stop mode after approximately 5 minutes in recording pause or still mode.
