Description

The converter enables you to connect 2.5" and 3.5" IDE HDDs as well as CD-ROM, CD RW-, DVD-ROM und DVD RW drives to the USB port of your PC. You can also connect SATA HDDs to the eSATA port. Just connect the device to the IDE or SATA port of the converter by plugging the enclosed eSATA or USB cable to your PC. Another possibility is to connect two devices, one IDE device and one SATA device to the converter.

Hardware Installation

Connecting IDE/ATA/ATAPI devices:

  1. Make sure that the Jumper is set on MASTER in your device.
  2. Connect the 40 pin connector of the converter to your device.
  3. Connect the 4 pin cable to the converter and the other side to the device.
  4. Connect the power supply to the power socket and the other side to the device.
  5. Now follow the driver installation.

Connecting 2.5" IDE devices:

  1. Connect the 2.5" IDE adapter to your 2.5" HDD.
  2. Connect the 40 pin connector to the converter.
  3. Connect the 4 pin cable to the connector and the other side to the IDE adapter.
  4. Connect the power supply to the power socket and the other side to the converter.
  5. Now follow the driver installation.

Connecting SATAI/II devices:

If you want to use SATA devices make sure your PC possesses an eSATA port. It does not work via USB.

  1. Connect the SATA connector of the converter to your SATA device.
  2. Connect the power supply to the power socket and the other side to the converter.
  3. Now follow the driver installation.

Driver Installation Windows 2000, XP

  1. Switch on your computer.
  2. Plug the USB cable into your USB Port, resp. the SATA cable into your eSATA Port.
  3. Switch on your converter.
  4. The converter will be recognized and you can start using the device immediately.

Windows 98/98SE/ME

Converter for USB:

  1. Switch on your computer.
  2. Plug the USB cable into your Converter and the USB A male into your USB Port.
  3. Switch on your converter.
  4. Afterwards, Windows displays the Hardware wizard.
  5. Put the driver CD in the CD ROM drive and click on "next".
  6. Choose "select the best driver" and click on "next".
  7. Choose the option "CD ROM drive" and choose the path: CD-ROM\Easy IDE\Win98 Driver", click "OK" and on "next".
  8. After the driver "Myson Century" is located, click on "next".
  9. Click on "Finish".
  10. Restart your PC.
  11. After restart you can start using the device immediately.

Windows 98/98SE/ME

Converter for SATA:

  1. Switch on your computer.
  2. Plug the SATA cable into your Converter and the eSATA male into your eSATA Port.
  3. Switch on your converter.
  4. Click "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "System", "Hardware", "Device Manager".
  5. Then click "disk drives" and double click the new Hard Drive. Go to "Settings", click "removable drive" and assign a drive letter. Click "OK".
  6. Your computer will ask to reboot. Click "yes" to restart the computer.
  7. After restart the external drive will be recognized and you can start using the device immediately.
