Frequently Asked Questions - 90564 DeLOCK

How do I connect the DeLOCK 90564 barcode reader to my computer?
Plug the USB cable into any available USB port on your computer. The reader is recognized as a HID keyboard and requires no drivers for basic operation. It will automatically start scanning barcodes into any text field.
Can I use this barcode reader with my smartphone?
The standard model connects via USB, so it works with OTG-enabled Android or iOS devices using a compatible adapter. However, it is primarily designed for desktop computers.
What types of barcodes does the DeLOCK 90564 support?
It supports most common 1D barcodes (UPC, EAN, Code 39, Code 128, etc.) and 2D codes such as QR Code, Data Matrix, and PDF417.
How do I clean the scanner lens?
Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol. Gently wipe the lens in a circular motion. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in liquid.
The scanner is not reading barcodes properly. What could be wrong?
Check if the barcode is damaged or dirty. Ensure the scanner is within proper distance (usually 2-12 inches). Verify that the reader is set to the correct symbology. If issue persists, reset the scanner by holding the trigger for 10 seconds.
Is it safe to look directly into the laser?
The DeLOCK 90564 uses a Class 2 laser, which is safe for accidental exposure. Avoid prolonged direct eye contact, but momentary exposure (less than 0.25 seconds) is generally not harmful.
Can I configure the scanner to add a prefix or suffix to scanned data?
Yes, the scanner can be configured using programming barcodes provided in the manual. You can set prefixes, suffixes, or even change the output format (e.g., add tab or enter).
What should I do if the scanner stops working?
First, check the USB connection. Try a different port or computer. If still not working, reset the scanner by unplugging it for 10 seconds and plugging it back. If problem continues, contact DeLOCK support for repair or replacement.
Does the scanner work with Linux or macOS?
Yes, it is plug-and-play on most operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux. It emulates a keyboard, so no drivers are required.
How do I know which programming barcode to scan for a specific setting?
Refer to the user manual (available for free on notice-facile.com) for a complete list of programming barcodes. Common settings like adding a carriage return have a dedicated barcode in the manual.
