Always follow these basic safety instructions when using electrical appliances. Read all the instructions carefully before use.
WARNING!
The hot oil can cause serious burn injuries if the appliance is tipped over or dropped.
- For household use only.
- This appliance can be used by children from 8 years and upwards and by persons with physical, sensorial or mental disabilities, or persons who lack experience or knowledge, if they are supervised or receive instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance and understand the risks involved with its use. Do not allow children to play with the appliance. Do not allow children to clean or maintain the appliance without supervision. Do not touch hot parts. Use the handle and knobs.
- Never immerse the power cord, plug or the appliance in
water or any other liquid – risk of electric shock.
- Keep the appliance under careful supervision when it is used by, or near children.
- Pull out the plug before cleaning and when the appliance is not in use. Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning or removing parts.
- Place the appliance on a hard, smooth surface, not on a cloth or other soft surface.
- Do not use the appliance if it is damaged or not working properly, or if the power cord or plug are damaged. Take the appliance to an authorised service centre to be checked, repaired or adjusted.

- Do not use the appliance without the oil container, without oil, or with too little oil.
- Do not put the appliance on, or near a hot stove, or in a hot oven.
- Handle the appliance carefully when there is hot oil in it.
- Check that the handles are correct fitted and locked to the basket (see detailed assembly instructions).
- Check before use that the oil container is correctly inserted.
- Never plug in the plug if the oil container is not properly inserted.
- The oil in the container remains hot even after the appliance is switched off. Do not attempt to move the appliance before it has completely cooled. Always use the handles to lift the oil container.
- The detachable oil container can be immersed in water to
clean it, but must be carefully dried before being used again, otherwise there is risk of electric shock.
- Never overfill the oil container with oil. The level of the oil must be between the Min and Max markings on the inside of the container.
- Never put wet food or food containing ice into hot oil.
- Always place the appliance on a stable surface with the handles turned, to avoid spilling hot oil when in use.
- After deep-frying, lift up the basket and wait for a few seconds for the steam pressure to drop.
- Never use the appliance for anything other than its intended purpose.
- Do not use the appliance outdoors.
- Store the appliance indoors and protected from moisture, otherwise there is a risk of material damage.
- Do not allow the power cord to hang over the edge of a table or worktop, or where there is a risk of tripping over it.
- Save these instructions.
- A damaged cord or plug must be replaced by an authorised service centre or qualified person to ensure safe use.
- Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
- The appliance is intended for household use, or for use in staff rooms, hotel rooms or other similar places.
- The surfaces on the appliance get hot during when in use.

Explanation of control panel
- The temperature control starts the appliance and sets the required temperature.
- The status light goes on and off during the deep-frying, when the thermostat starts and switches off the heating
element to maintain a constant temperature.
- The power light goes on when the appliance is in use.
ASSEMBLY
- Put the oil container in place in the casing.
- Align the guides on the control panel to the rails on the metal casing.

- Push down the guides as far as possible.
NOTE:
The appliance has a safety switch to prevent it from starting if the control panel is not correctly fitted on the rails on the casing.
- Fasten the handle on the deep-fryer basket by pressing the ends of the handle together and inserting them in the fixture (the two holes) on the basket (1). Lift up the handle to lock in place, as shown in the diagram (2).

USE
BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
Remove all the packaging material and any stickers from the appliance.
WARNING!
- Never plug in the plug if the control panel is not properly inserted.
- Never plug in the plug if the appliance is not properly assembled and the heating element is covered with oil.
- Do not immerse the control panel, the power cord or plug, in water or any other liquid – risk of electric shock.

Never attempt to boil water in the appliance.
-
Lift out the control panel with the heating element from the slots by pulling it up from the bottom with one hand and holding the appliance in place with the other.
- Remove the oil container from the deep-fryer.
- Wash the oil container and deep-fryer basket with hot water and washing-up liquid. Do not use abrasive substances or materials. Wipe thoroughly dry before use.
WARNING!
Do not immerse the control panel, the power cord or plug, in water or any other liquid – risk of electric shock.
NOTE:
The oil container, deep-fryer basket, handles, permanent filter and the lid can be washed with hot water and washing-up liquid.
USE
WARNING!
Never plug in the plug if the oil container is not properly inserted and filled with oil. Check that the control panel is correctly fitted on the casing and that the heating element in the oil container is covered with oil before plugging in the plug.

Fill up with oil to between the Min and Max markings on the inside of the container. Do not use the appliance with too little or too much oil in the container. The level of the oil must be between the Min (2.0 litres) and Max (3.0 litres) markings on the inside of the container.

Different types of vegetable oil can be used. Do not use olive oil, margarine, butter, tallow, lard, or the equivalent. Never mix different types of oil or fat, and never mix old oil and new oil.

Fat that is solid at room temperature must be melted before use according to the instructions in the section on solid fat.
- Put the lid on.
- Plug in the plug. The power light goes on.
NOTE:
- Never plug in the plug if the control panel is not properly fixed on the appliance.

Turn the temperature control to the required temperature.
- The status light goes on when the set temperature is reached.
- Do not put food in the deep-fryer basket when it is immersed in hot oil. Put the food in the deep-fryer basket. Do not put food into hot deep-frying oil. Do not overfill with food – the maximum amount is 700 g. Deep-fry small portions for optimum results and shorter cooking times.
WARNING!
When deep-frying frozen food remove the deep-fryer basket from the deep-fryer before filling, otherwise there is a risk splashing oil which can cause burns.
NOTE:
When deep-frying frozen food, such as pommes frites, do not fill the basket over the max marking. Remove any ice from frozen food before deep-frying. Residual ice can cause splashing, or make the oil overflow when the food is put into the oil.

Lower the deep-fryer basket slowly into the container to avoid splashing.
-
Put the lid on during the deep-frying.
- Put the temperature control in the OFF position when the deep-frying is ready, and pull out the plug.
- Lift the lid carefully a little, to release the steam, before removing the lid. Keep your face and hands out of the way when opening the lid, otherwise there is a risk of scalding from the hot oil.
- Lift up the deep-fryer basket with the handle and place it on the oil container to run off.
- When the oil has run off, lift the basket from the container to serve the food.
WARNING!
Pull out the plug and allow the appliance to cool (about 2 hours) before cleaning and/or putting away. Never move or carry the appliance with hot oil in the container.
NOTE:
The metal parts on the appliance get hot when in use. Do not touch the sides of the appliance when in use.

TIP
Deep-frying
• Always use the deep-fryer basket.
- The status light goes on when the oil has reached the set temperature.
- Lower the deep-fryer basket slowly into the hot oil. If the deep-fryer basket is lowered too quickly into the oil there is a risk of splashing or the oil overflowing.
- Carefully put the lid on, and always keep it closed during the deep-frying. Otherwise hot oil can splash out from the container.
- Steam is forced out under the edges of the lid during the deep-frying.
- Do not stand too near the deep-fryer when in use.
- Do not mix old and new oil.
- Change the oil at regular intervals. The oil can quickly become contaminated when deep-frying food with a high protein content, such as poultry, meat or fish. If the oil is mainly used for deep-frying potatoes and is filtered after use it can be used 8–10 times. Do not use the same oil for longer than 6 months.
- Change the oil the oil if it gets darker, if it foams when heated, or if it smells or tastes rancid, or if it becomes syrupy.
- Check that the food to be deep-fried is dry. Remove any loose ice from frozen food before deep-frying.
- The food should be divided into equal parts for best results. Larger pieces take longer to cook.
- The cooking times in the table are approximate and refer to deep-frying a half-full basket. The exact times can vary, depending on the amount, personal
taste, and the size of the pieces, etc.
Using solid fat
WARNING!
Do not put solid fat in the oil container or the deep-fryer basket.
- Solid vegetable fat must be melted in a separate container and carefully poured into the oil container.
- Previously used solid vegetable fat that has hardened in the oil container must be removed from the container and melted in a separate container before being used again.
WARNING!
- Never attempt to melt the hardened solid fat in the oil container, this can cause melted fat to splash up through the hardened surface.

Solid fat can only be melted in the deep-fryer as follows.
-
Allow the fat to reach room temperature. If the fat is cold there is a greater risk of splashing.
- Make a few holes in the fat with a fork.
- Make sure the lid is properly closed while the fat is melting.
- Turn the temperature control to 150^ C.
WARNING!
The power light goes on when the plug is plugged in. The status light goes on when the fat/oil in the container has reached the set temperature.
FILTERING AND CHANGING OIL
NOTE:
- Pull out the plug and allow the appliance to cool (about 2 hours) before
changing the oil, cleaning or putting the appliance away.
- It is not necessary to change the oil every time it is used. The oil can quickly become contaminated when deep-frying food with a high protein content, such as poultry, meat or fish. If the oil is mainly used for deep-frying potatoes and is filtered after use it can be used 8–10 times. Do not use the same oil for longer than 6 months.
Filtering the oil
- Pull out the plug and allow the appliance to cool (about 2 hours). Pour the oil from the oil container into another container or bottle.
- Wash and dry the oil container and the deep-fryer basket.
- Pour the oil back into the container through a strainer or paper filter.
MAINTENANCE
CLEANING
Clean the appliance every time it has been used for best performance and lifespan.

Pull out the plug and allow the appliance to cool (about 2 hours) before cleaning.
- Do not immerse the control panel, the power cord or plug, in water or any other liquid – risk of electric shock.
- Do not put the control panel, the power cord or plug, in a dishwasher.
- Clean the control panel with a damp cloth.

The oil container and deep-fryer basket are dishwasher-safe.
-
The lid can be washed with hot water and washing-up liquid. Do not immerse the appliance casing in water or any other liquid, and do not wash it in a dishwasher.
- Clean the permanent filter by removing it from the lid and washing in hot water and washing-up liquid.
- Rinse and wipe thoroughly dry before replacing. Replace the filter cover.
WARNING!
Do not put the permanent filter in a dishwasher.
OVERHEATING PROTECTION
The appliance is fitted with overheating protection. If the appliance does not get hot the reason for this could be that the overheating protection has tripped.
Resetting the overheating protection
- Pull out the plug.
- Wait until the appliance and the oil have completely cooled.
- When the oil has completely cooled, lift up the control panel and use a pen or equivalent to press the button to reset the thermostat, on the inside of the control panel.

- Fit the control panel on the appliance casing and continue deep-frying.
