Frequently Asked Questions - ED-X50EP HITACHI

How do I replace the lamp in the Hitachi ED-X50EP?
Turn off the projector and unplug it. Allow the lamp to cool for at least 45 minutes. Remove the lamp cover by loosening the screw, then pull out the lamp unit. Insert the new lamp and tighten the screw. Reset the lamp timer via the menu: OPTION > LAMP TIME > RESET.
What is the native resolution of this projector?
The Hitachi ED-X50EP has a native resolution of XGA (1024 x 768). It can accept signals up to UXGA (1600x1200) but will scale them to the panel resolution.
Can I connect a component video source?
Yes, you can use an RCA-to-D-sub adapter cable to connect component video (Y, Cb/Pb, Cr/Pr) to the COMPUTER IN1 or COMPUTER IN2 port. Refer to the manual for pin assignments.
How do I clean or replace the air filter?
Turn off the projector and unplug it. Remove the filter cover (located on the side or bottom). Take out the filter and either vacuum it or wash it with mild detergent. Allow it to dry completely before reinserting. Replace if damaged. Reset the filter timer via OPTION > FILTER TIME > RESET.
Why does the projector display 'Lamp Error'?
This could indicate lamp failure, overheating, or a faulty ballast. Check the lamp for damage, ensure proper cooling (air filters clean), and let the projector cool down. If persistent, replace the lamp or contact service.
How do I adjust the keystone correction?
Press the KEYSTONE button on the remote or go to SETTING > KEYSTONE. Use the arrow keys to adjust vertical keystone manually. Alternatively, enable AUTO KEYSTONE in the OPTION menu to automatically correct when the tilt sensor detects an angle.
Can I control the projector via computer?
Yes, connect a RS-232C crossover cable from the projector's CONTROL port to your computer. Use the communication settings: 19200 bps, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit. Commands are sent in hex format (see RS-232C command table in manual).
What is the maximum image size?
The maximum image size depends on throw distance. With zoom lens, a 300-inch diagonal image is achievable at approximately 10-12 meters. Refer to lens specifications for exact distances.
How do I reset the lamp timer?
Go to the OPTION menu, select LAMP TIME, then choose RESET. Confirm the reset. This should be done only after replacing the lamp.
What should I do if the image is flickering or unstable?
Check the input source signal timing. For computer signals, ensure the resolution and refresh rate are supported (see the PC signal table). Adjust H PHASE and H SIZE in the IMAGE menu. Also try using the AUTO ADJUST function.

NOTE • Be sure to check jack type, signal level, timing and resolution before connecting this projector to a PC.
- Some PCs may have multiple display screen modes. Use of some of these modes will not be possible with this projector.
- Depending on the input signal, full-size display may not be possible in some cases. Refer to the number of display pixels above.
- Although the projector can display signals with resolution up to UXGA (1600x1200), the signal will be converted to the projector's panel resolution before being displayed. The best display performance will be achieved if the resolutions of the input signal and projector panel are identical.
• Automatic adjustment may not function correctly with some input signals.
- The image may not be displayed correctly when the input sync signal is a composite sync or a sync on G.
