Frequently Asked Questions - WH-101 W Vivax

How do I install my WH-101 W water heater?
Installation must be performed by a qualified professional. The unit should be mounted vertically on a sturdy wall, with clearances as specified in the manual. Connect the water supply to the inlet using a G 1/2" fitting, and ensure the pressure relief valve is properly attached. Electrical connection requires a 220-240 V outlet with proper grounding.
What is the recommended temperature setting for normal use?
For everyday use, set the thermostat to 55 °C. This temperature is hot enough for showers and cleaning, while reducing energy consumption and preventing scalding. For higher demand, you can increase up to 75 °C.
How often should I descale my water heater?
Descaling should be performed at least once a year. In areas with hard water (>15 °dH), more frequent descaling (every 6 months) is recommended. Use a commercial descaling agent or a solution of citric acid, following the instructions in the manual.
Why is the water not heating?
Check if the power supply is connected and the circuit breaker is on. Ensure the thermostat is set above the current water temperature. If the problem persists, the heating element or thermostat may be faulty; contact customer service.
What does the pressure relief valve do?
The pressure relief valve automatically releases excessive pressure from the tank to prevent bursting. It may drip occasionally during heating; this is normal. If it continuously leaks, the valve may need replacement.
Can I use an extension cord for my water heater?
No, using an extension cord is not recommended. The water heater draws high power, which can overheat extension cords and cause fire hazards. Always plug directly into a dedicated wall outlet.
How do I drain the water heater for maintenance?
Turn off power and water supply. Open the hot water tap to relieve pressure. Connect a hose to the drain valve at the bottom of the heater and open the valve to drain the tank. Ensure water is directed to a safe drain.
What spare parts are available for the WH-101 W?
Common spare parts include heating elements, thermostats, pressure relief valves, gaskets, and anode rods. Contact Vivax customer service or authorized dealers for genuine parts.
Is the water heater safe to leave on overnight?
Yes, the water heater is designed for continuous operation. It automatically maintains the set temperature and has safety features like overheat protection. However, for energy saving, you may use a timer to heat only when needed.
What does the indicator light mean?
A steady green light indicates the heater is powered on and heating. When the water reaches the set temperature, the light turns off or changes to amber (depending on model). Refer to the manual for your specific indicator pattern.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  • Read all instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
  • Remove all packaging.
    • Water boiled for the first time should be discarded.

INSTRUCTION FOR USE

- The filter has been installed on the kettle before shipping. If it has been removed, install the filter before using the kettle. Hold the filter securely and place the slot in the filter over the tab in the cover. Push gently and the filter will snap into position.

- Do not use the kettle without the filter in position as water may spill out when boiling.

- Do not remove the filter when the kettle is hot.

- Fill kettle between the minimum and maximum levels shown on the water level window.

- Note:

Do not attempt to fill while the kettle is on the power base.

Do not use for other than boiling water. Other liquids will contaminate the interior of the kettle.

Do not fill past the MAX level indicated on the water level window. Overfilling may cause water to spill out when boiling.

  • Place kettle on the base making sure it is correctly engaged on its base.
  • Depress the On/Off Switch to the 'On' position. The indicator light will illuminate to indicate that the kettle is in the boil cycle. Once the water has boiled, the On/Off Switch will automatically switch to the 'Off' position and the indicator light will go out.
  • If you want to use the kettle again, allow the thermal safety switch to cool down for 15 – 20 seconds then depress the On/Off Switch to the On position. If the On/Off Switch does not remain in the 'On' position, the water is hot enough to use without reheating.
  • Unplug cord from wall outlet before lifting kettle from power base. Grip the kettle by the Handle only, as the surface and lid will be hot.
  • Return the kettle to the power base or place on a heat resistant surface after use.
  • If the kettle is accidentally switched on when empty, the thermostat will automatically shut it off to prevent the kettle from overheating. If this situation occurs, unplug the power base and let the kettle cool before refilling.
  • It is recommended that the power cord be disconnected from the wall outlet when not in use. Do not attempt to connect any other appliance to the power base or tamper with the connector in any way.

CARE AND CLEANING

  • Unplug power cord from wall outlet. Empty out remaining water and allow kettle to cool before cleaning.
  • If necessary, remove and clean the Aquascreen filter (R) by rinsing under running water. The filter can be removed by grasping firmly between your thumb and forefinger and gently pull off starting at either the right or left edge.
  • Under normal use, a deposit of scale may form on the inside of the kettle and cause some discolouration. Scale, which has accumulated inside the kettle, can be removed by boiling equal parts of white vinegar and water (500 ml / 2 cups of each is recommended). Once the water has boiled, allow mixture to stand several hours or overnight. Empty out mixture and fill kettle to the MAX level with fresh water. Bring water to a boil and discard. For heavy scale build-up, repeat this process.

Note: This build-up can be delayed by pouring out old water and refilling before each use.

  • Do not use abrasive cleaners
  • Do not allow water to enter the power base
  • Do not immerse kettle or power base in water or other liquid.

A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be of a grounded 3-wire cord. The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
