Frequently Asked Questions - PCE-N15 ASUS

How to install the driver for ASUS PCE-N15 card?
Before installing the driver, insert the card into a free PCI-E slot. Then insert the support CD into the drive and launch automatic installation. If autorun is disabled, manually run SETUP.EXE. Select the language, then click Install Utilities/Driver. Follow the instructions and restart the computer.
How to connect the card to a wireless network?
After driver installation, double-click the ASUS utility icon in the taskbar. Go to the Survey or Search tab to see available networks. Select your network, enter the security key if required, and click Connect. The connection is established when the Link LED lights up.
How to use the WPS function?
Make sure your access point supports WPS. Open the ASUS utility and go to the WPS tab. Choose Use the WPS button, then press the WPS button on your router. You can also use a PIN code: select Use PIN code and enter the 8-digit code from the router.
What to do if the card is not detected by Windows?
Check in Device Manager (right-click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager). Open the Network adapters section. If the card appears with an exclamation mark, reinstall the driver. Make sure the card is fully inserted into the PCI-E slot and that the computer is off during installation.
How to improve signal quality?
Raise the dipole antenna to a vertical position for better reception. Keep the card away from interference sources such as microwaves or large metal objects. Move closer to the access point if possible. You can also try changing the channel in the advanced settings of the utility.
Can I use the card as an access point (Soft AP mode)?
Yes, the card supports Soft AP mode under Windows XP/Vista/7. To activate it, click the AP icon in the ASUS utility, then the General tab and the ICS button. Your computer must be connected to the Internet via a wired network to share the connection.
How to configure WEP or WPA security?
In the ASUS utility, go to Config > Encryption. For WEP, select Open or Shared as the authentication method and enter a 5 or 13 character ASCII key. For WPA-PSK, choose WPA-PSK and enter a key of 8 to 63 characters. The encryption type can be TKIP or AES.
Which operating systems are compatible?
The ASUS PCE-N15 card is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Newer systems (Windows 8/10/11) are not officially supported, but Windows 7 drivers may sometimes work in compatibility mode.
How to reset the card to factory settings?
There is no hardware reset button. To restore default settings, uninstall the driver and utility via Control Panel, restart, then reinstall the software from the CD. You can also delete saved profiles in the ASUS utility.
The card slows down my Internet connection, what should I do?
Check that you are using the latest driver (downloadable from the ASUS website). Avoid interference by changing the channel in the utility. Make sure Soft AP mode is not enabled if you are not using it, as it can reduce performance. You can also try switching to 802.11g only mode for more stability.
