USER MANUAL WD 1590 MOULINEX
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS •Please read these instructions for use carefully before using your appliance for the first time and keep them to hand for future reference. •This appliance is intended for indoor, domestic household use only. It is not intended to be used EN in the following applications, and the guarantee will not apply for: - staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; - farm houses; - by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; - bed and breakfast type environments. •Any commercial use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply. •Never leave the appliance unattended when in use. •This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by an adult responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they 26
do not play with the appliance.
•This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years. • Accessible surface temperatures can be high when the appliance is operating. •Make sure that the electric power supply is compatible with the power rating and voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance. •This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remotecontrol system. •Any connection error will invalidate your guarantee. •Given the diverse standards in effect, if the appliance is used in a country other than that in which it is purchased, have it checked by an Approved Service Centre. •If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be 27
replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent in order to avoid a hazard.
•Inspect the appliance and power cord for signs of wear or damage before to connecting to the power supply. •Do not use your appliance if it does not operate correctly, if it has been damaged or if the power cord or plug is damaged. To maintain safety, these parts must be replaced by an Approved Service Centre. •Any intervention other than normal cleaning and maintenance by the customer must be performed by an Approved Service Centre. •Never immerse the appliance or power supply cord in water or any other liquid. They are not dishwasher safe. •Before first use, remove all packaging materials, stickers and accessories from the inside and the outside of the appliance. •Fully unwind the power cord before plugging in. •If it is necessary to use an extension lead ensure that it is of suitable construction and power rating, with an earth connection; take all necessary precautions to prevent anyone tripping over an extension cord. •Always plug the appliance into an earthed socket. 28
•Never disconnect the plug by pulling on the power cord.
•Read the instructions carefully, common to different versions depending on the accessories supplied with your appliance, and keep them within reach. •If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary. •Before first use, wash the plates, pour a little cooking oil onto the plates and wipe with a soft cloth or paper kitchen towel. •The appliance must be placed and used on a flat, stable, heat-resistant work surface, away from water splashes. •The power cord must never be close to or in contact with hot parts of the appliance, close to a source of heat or resting on sharp edges. •Position the power cord carefully, whether an extension is used or not, so that guests can move freely around the table without tripping over it. •Always use a wooden or plastic spatula to avoid damaging the cooking plate. •Allow the appliance to cool down completely before you clean and store it. •Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals which have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds. We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area. •If the appliance is used in the centre of the table, keep it out of the reach of children. •If parts of the appliance should catch fire, never try to extinguish flames with water. Disconnect the appliance and smother the flames with a damp cloth.
•Never leave the appliance plugged in when not in use. •Never leave the appliance unattended whilst connected to the power supply, even if for a few moments, especially where children are present. •To prevent the appliance from overheating, do not place it in a corner or against a wall or below a wall cupboard. •Never move the appliance as long as it is hot. •Never place the appliance below or close to easily inflammable objects (e.g. curtains, etc.). •Never place the appliance directly on a fragile surface (glass table, tablecloth, varnished furniture, etc.) or on a soft surface such as a tea-towel. •Never place the appliance on or near hot or slippery surfaces; never leave the cord hanging over a heat source (hotplates, gas stove, etc.). •Do not place cooking utensils on the cooking surfaces of the appliance. •Never cut food directly on the plates. •Do not use metal scourers or scouring powders to avoid damaging the cooking surface (non-stick coating). •Do not heat the appliance in vertical position. •Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance: use the handles. •Do not use the appliance empty.

Instructions for use
Explanatory drawings are at the end of this leaflet. •Place your appliance on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface. •Open the appliance using the lid closing latch (3) - C. •Close the appliance - D. •Plug the cord into the mains - E : the red light will light up (1) - F. •Allow the appliance to pre-heat - G : the green light will light up (2) showing that the appliance is ready to use - H. •The green light goes out and lights up again regularly during the cooking process, to show that the temperature is maintained. •Open the appliance and fill each mould of the lower plate with the batter - I - J. Do not let it overflow into the groove along the edges. •Close the appliance - K. •Leave the preparations to cook for the desired time - L. •Unplug the appliance when cooking is complete - O. •Leave it to cool down at least 2 hours - P.
•Check that the appliance is unplugged before cleaning. •Clean the plates and body of the appliance using a clean cloth, hot water and washing-up liquid. •The appliance and its power supply cord must not be put in the dishwasher.
