Frequently Asked Questions - FS-4200DN KYOCERA

How to configure the printer on the network?
Access the control panel, press Menu, select Network, then TCP/IP Config. Enable TCP/IP and set IPv4 parameters (IP address, subnet mask, gateway). You can use automatic DHCP or manually enter addresses. After modification, restart the network card from the Restart Network menu.
How to replace the toner cartridge?
Open the top cover. Remove the old cartridge by lifting it by the handle. Take the new cartridge out of its packaging, gently shake it to distribute the toner, then insert it into the printer until it clicks into place. Close the cover. The toner counter resets automatically.
What to do in case of a paper jam?
Check the error message on the display. Open the indicated covers (front cover, rear cover, or MP tray). Carefully remove the jammed paper by pulling in the feed direction. Make sure there are no debris. Close the covers and press OK to resume printing.
How to perform duplex printing?
In the printer driver (tab General or Layout), select Duplex and choose the binding mode (flip on long edge or short edge). The printer automatically prints on both sides. Duplex is standard on this model.
How to clean the printer?
Turn off the printer and unplug it. Open the covers and use a soft lint-free cloth slightly dampened to clean the exterior and accessible areas. Do not touch the transfer rollers or the fuser unit. Regular cleaning prevents print quality issues.
What types of paper are supported?
The printer accepts plain paper, recycled, colored, envelopes, labels, transparencies, and thick paper. Sizes range from A6 to Legal. Use the MP tray for special media. Supported weight is 64 to 120 g/m² in the trays, and up to 220 g/m² in the MP tray.
How to cancel a current print job?
From the control panel, press Cancel when the display shows Processing. A job list appears; select the one to cancel using the arrow keys, then press OK. Confirm by selecting Yes. Printing stops after the current page.
How to save energy?
Use sleep modes: Quick Recovery or Energy Saving. Energy Saving mode reduces consumption to a minimum. Set the sleep timer in the menu Print Settings > Timer > Sleep Level Settings. Also enable duplex printing to reduce paper usage.
How to reset network settings?
In the Network menu on the control panel, select Restart Network and confirm with Yes. This restarts the network card and applies new settings. To return to factory defaults, use Command Center RX or perform a full reset via Settings/Maintenance.
How to use the multipurpose (MP) tray?
The MP tray allows printing on special media (envelopes, transparencies, thick paper). Open the tray, pull out the support tray, adjust the paper guides to the desired size. Place the media with the print side facing up. In the driver, select MP Tray as the paper source and set the corresponding media type.

What are the causes of ink marks on pages printed with a KYOCERA FS-4200DN printer?
Frequently Asked Questions - 16/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

Ink marks (toner) on pages printed with a KYOCERA FS-4200DN generally come from several sources specific to this laser printer. The most common cause is the accumulation of dust or toner deposits on the heating roller or the registration roller. When replacing the toner cartridge, the manual recommends cleaning the inside of the printer to avoid this problem.

The cleaning procedure for the FS-4200DN is very important: open the top cover and the front cover, remove the developer, then use a lint-free cloth to dust off the registration roller. If you notice dirt specifically on the top edge or the back of the pages, further clean the heating roller which may be dirty or worn.

Repeated black or white vertical lines on your prints generally indicate that the drum or developer is damaged. In this case, cleaning will not be sufficient and you will need to call a maintenance technician. However, you can first try to refresh the drum via the service settings (Service Param. section of the control panel).

Using inappropriate or damp paper can also cause marks. The FS-4200DN accepts paper from 64 to 80 g/m². Ensure that your paper is stored in a dry place and that you are using paper recommended for laser printers. The type of paper selected in the settings must match the one used.

If you live at an altitude above 1500 meters, the printer may produce deposits or scattered spots. In this case, go to the Service Param. menu and adjust the Altitude Adj. setting by selecting High 1, then High 2 if necessary.

A often overlooked factor: only use genuine Kyocera toner cartridges. The manufacturer disclaims any responsibility for issues with third-party cartridges. Also, check that the toner recovery tray is properly installed and not full, otherwise the used toner may overflow and mark the pages.

To maintain good print quality, regularly clean the ventilation openings: open the left cover and the right side of the machine, then dust them with a lint-free cloth. Perform this cleaning with each toner cartridge replacement to avoid dust accumulation that causes defects.

How to clean the drum of the KYOCERA FS-4200DN laser printer?
Frequently Asked Questions - 16/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

To clean the drum of your KYOCERA FS-4200DN laser printer, follow these simple steps and important precautions:

Steps to clean the drum

  1. Turn off and unplug the printer: Make sure the device is completely turned off and unplugged to avoid any electrical risk.
  2. Open the printer cover: Access the toner cartridge by opening the top or front cover depending on the model.
  3. Remove the toner cartridge: Handle it carefully to avoid damaging the components.
  4. Inspect the drum: The drum is usually integrated into the cartridge or located just below it. Avoid touching its surface directly with your fingers, as this can damage it.
  5. Clean the drum: Use a soft, clean, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. Gently wipe the surface to remove toner residue or dust. Do not use solvents or chemicals that could damage the drum.
  6. Let it dry: Ensure that the drum is completely dry before reinserting it.
  7. Reinsert the toner cartridge: Place it back correctly into the printer.
  8. Close the cover and turn the printer back on: Plug the device back in and power it on to resume printing.

Additional tips

  • Clean the drum only if you experience printing issues related to quality (spots, streaks, defects).
  • Always handle the drum with care to avoid scratches or irreversible damage.
  • If you notice persistent issues after cleaning, consider replacing the drum or cartridge according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
